Description of the Breckenridge vacation home rental
Beautiful mountain home tucked in the woods at the end of scenic Placer Valley. Enjoy spectacular views of 14,000 ft. Mts. Lincoln and Bross from the great room, and from the private outdoor hot tub on the patio off the master bedroom.
The great room, located on the upper floor, has wood floors, vaulted tongue-and-groove wood ceiling with exposed log beams, wood-burning fireplace, and miles of glass facing south and west. Very comfortably furnished, with two sleeper sofas and two Lazy Boy recliners. Relax after skiing or hiking while enjoying high definition television on the large, wall-mounted flatscreen TV. Check your email or surf the web from anywhere in the house with high-speed wireless Internet. Or sit in front of the fire and read a book. There is even a piano!
Three bedrooms and two full baths on the ground floor comfortably sleep two couples and three or four children, with additional sleeping available on the sofas upstairs. The entranceway stores skis and boots. The house has radiant floor heating throughout.
The master bedroom is ensuite. There is a very private patio with hot tub facing the mountains. Built into the custom cabinetry is a gas fireplace (just flip the switch next to the bed) and a hidden plasma television.
The modern kitchen is fully equipped, and even has sharp knives! There is an island with the stove facing outwards for optimal entertaining. The dining table seats eight comfortably.
The home is just over Hoosier Pass, 12 miles south of Breckenridge, one mile from State Highway 9 on County Road 4. Although the road and drive are well-maintained, four-wheel drive is recommended in winter.
We are just 20 minutes to the varied terrain of Breckenridge, 45 minutes to Keystone and Copper Mountain, and one hour to Arapahoe Basin and Vail. There are excellent ski tours on Hoosier Pass and in the Mosquito Range for the Nordic enthusiasts. We love to ski hard all day and then return to the peace and beauty of our private mountain home.
Our (smoke-free) home is perfect for an active family vacation, including excellent alpine, cross-country skiing, or world renown ice climbing in the winter, and mountain climbing, biking, fishing, golfing, and rafting in the summer. Or, the seclusion and setting are perfect for a romantic getaway. This is what the Colorado mountains are all about!
A great home with the most amazing view imaginable. The valley and mountains surrounding the home are absolutely breathtaking. We looked at many different homes to rent for the week and we couldn't be happier with our choice. The owner was very friendly and extremely helpful. The only thing that didn't cooperate with us was the weather. It decided to snow the entire time that we were there. This would have been just fine except we were in a minivan. My only suggestion would be that if you decide to go and there is a hint of snow, take a 4 wheel drive car/truck. The road to the house is manageable but with 4 inches of snow, it was a bit dicey. It snowed a total of 12+ inches while we were there which made it impossible for us to leave at times. Luckily we took enough food to last us the entire week. The house was amazing and the kids loved the hot tub. We will definitely stay here again, but maybe in the spring/summer to avoid the snow/ice. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle, this is the house for you. There are other homes in the valley but you feel like you have the area to yourself. A truly beautiful home in an amazing area!!
House was exactly as advertised, views were spectacular, and it was very secluded. Owner was very responsive and helpful. We stayed here for an anniversary and it was fabulous. The hot tub, the fireplace, two TVs with satellite, kitchen had everything we needed to cook, beautiful views, lots of light. We definitely hope to return. Great mountian home! Very private, with lots of peace and quiet. Well furnished and appointed. Great kitchen for family cooking. The living/great room has amazing views and is perfect for reading by the fire or watching a movie with a group. We will definitely be back. Owner was very curteous and pelasant to deal with.
House was perfect for us, very comfortable...we noticed the altitude to start with but got over it very quickly. The view from the hot tub has to be seen to be believed. All dealing with owner done by email..excellent communication and very helpful..would highly recommend.
My husband and I stayed here by ourselves for a getaway after his return from military deployment. Our only (semi-)regret is that we didn't bring some family to enjoy the house with us! The pics don't do the views there justice... in a word, breathtaking. It is the perfect combination of seclusion with proximity to great mountain activities. We were perfectly happy to stay in a couple of days, watching the snow fall, relaxing by the fireplace, "chilling" in the hot tub outside, and playing board games. The house has everything you'll need for your stay. When the weather cleared, we enjoyed hiking to the reservoir and nearby wooded trails. The pizza at the South Park Saloon in Alma was some of the best we've ever had. The locals are very friendly, and we liked getting away from the overly-touristy atmosphere of the resort towns. We'd love to come back and experience all the summer mountain activities the area has to offer. This is at the top of our list for Colorado destinations.
Great place to stay, secluded, beautiful views, great fireplace and hottub. Really a nice great room for families. Caution: there are stairs up to the great room where the kitchen is located. When you are having to carry lots of things up the stairs and are not used to the altitude, that is a challenge.
Would stay there again.
The property is exactly as described. It is spacious, comfortable and with excellent views. The location is very quiet and peaceful, well away from any busy traffic and not overlooked by other properties but not too remote. The towns of Brekenridge and Alma are easily driveable. Views from the property are exceptional along with excellent fishing very closeby. The hot tub on the deck was lovely to come back to after a days walking or sightseeing, it was all set up ready for our arrival. The rental information and money transactions were dealt with efficiently and smoothly - even from the UK.
