Description of the Bridgton vacation chalet rental

Waterfront Chalet with a wonderful view of Shawnee Peak Ski Area and 13 mile long Moose Pond featuring twin lakefront decks, 3 bedrooms (sleeps 6), kitchen/living/dining room with breakfast bar, bathroom with shower, telephone, cable color television with DVD/VCR, stereo radio, wireless internet, cell phone access, woodstove with fireplace screen(firewood included), outdoor grille, microwave, 6 way game table, lakeside picnic table, boat docks, swim float, canoe, sunfish sailboat, 14' aluminum rowboat (2.5hp motor avail at $75/week), life preservers, sandy beach and sandy lake access with access to a larger private sandy beach, night spot lights, southerly exposure, 5' basket weave fence with gate surrounding property to corral animals and children, nearby boat launch, year round easy access and more in a very unique New England setting. Perfect spot for a couple, small family and small fishing, hunting, skiing or snowmobiling groups.

Area Information

The chalet - located in the heart of the western Maine lake region and in the foothills of the White Mountains - is off North High St (Bridgton road) on Moose Pond - 3 ponds connected by narrows, 1300 acres, approx 13 miles long, 1 mile wide, 80 feet deep max. Moose Pond is the cleanest lake in the western Maine with a TSI = 34 -crystal clear water to 20 feet depth. The chalet looks up the slopes of Pleasant Mtn/Shawnee Peak - 2007 ft above sea level - Western Maine’s largest ski area and New England’s largest night skiing area featuring top to bottom snow making and night skiing. The town of the Bridgton (7 min east) offers a stores, hospital, antiques, laundramat, movies, restaurants and an 18 holes golf courses. The NH town of North Conway (25min west) offers finest restaurants, super market,factory outlet malls, movies, and many nightspots. There are 12 lakes and nine ski areas within a 1 hr drive. Winter fun: Moose Pond area - skating, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, day/night downhill skiing at your doorstep. Nine ski areas are within a 1hr drive - Shawnee Peak (1min), Cranmore(30min), King Pine(35min), Attitash(40min), Bear Peak (40 min), Black (40 min), Sunday River(40min), Mt Abrams(45min), Wildcat(60min). Access to the Me and NH snowmobile trails is easy via Moose Pond or ROW across the street.

Detailed fishing and beach information: Chalet is located on 13 mile Moose Pond which is actually 3 ponds separated by navigable narrows. The chalet is located on the center basin which is the deepest (80 feet) and known for trout and salmon fishing. The upper basin is shallower and weedy at the very northernmost point known for largemouth bass and pickerel. The lower basin is shallower and less weedy at and known for large and smallmouth bass pickeral and white perch. (The state record largemouth bass (11lbs, 10 oz was taken from the lower basin in 1968). Other fish species available in Moose Pond are yellow perch, hornpout, smelt and white sucker. The best fishing is from April to June. 3+ day licenses are available on line. Chalet has a small private sandy beach in a cove next to the structure that varies depending on lake level. The drop off is very gradual and is fine for children. Patrons have access to a larger shared beach for games, etc. one cottage over from the chalet - best accessed by boat provided

Great get away

The chalet is very cozy and rustic. just what the doctor orded for a quite restfull vaction if that what your looking for .there is plenty of things to do around the chalet for everyone young and young at heart. the chalet has always been clean and neat and welcoming the two times i stayed. Rob the owner is great about getting back with answers for any questions you might have.over all its a fantastic place to spend your vaction and a great price.

Our family of four spent the last few days of 2012 in this chalet. It was somewhat rustic and a little dusty, but overall a comfortable place to stay. The views are spectacular. The DVD player and remotes were not working, but the scenery outside (day or night) was so incredible we didn't care. The whole cabin stayed very warm all weekend, the wood stove was wonderful. The location of this chalet was perfect for skiing and shopping. We all imagined it would be really fun in the summer as well. We would stay here again, but we would bring our own batteries, DVD player and 'swiffers'. We would recommend this chalet to anyone.

Owner's reply:

The DVD player and remote we're fine - the buttons just need to be pressed hard. I can understand why guests might be reluctant to press too hard. I invite all my patrons to call my private cell phone at any time should questions or concerns arise. Regarding the slight dust, I'll try harder!

My friends and I stayed at Rob's chalet last year the weekend of New Years and had a great time, so we've rented it again this New Years. It has everything you need to have a great time including the nice wood heat in the winter. We show up, get the wood stove going, go grab a drink at the bar, and when we come back it's nice and toasty. Initially we thought the chalet was buried in the woods somewhere, but it's right off the main drag and you would never know it. We had 4 people and there was more than enough room for all of us. Highly recommended!

Perfect Getaway

Our stay at the chalet was great. It was well equipped with anything you might need and well kept. Very clean. The perfect size for a small family. Bigger inside then it looks from the road. The water and area was beautiful. Good fishing, very relaxing. Even though it is right off a main road it was private and quiet. I hope to visit again next summer.

Great Week Away

Even though you are on Route 302 this chalet fells like you are way out in the woods and it is right on the lake, which is crystal clear. The chalet is stocked with everything you need and even comes with a Sunfish, a canoe, and a row boat. Whether it is swimming, fishing, or sitting around a campfire it is a very relaxing setting. Restaurants and stores are a few minutes away but you might not want to leave the chalet.

Wonderful secluded and cozy spot

I live in the area but needed some extra space for visiting family. Although I knew the general area where the cabin is located, I was amazed to see such a wonderful, secluded place and view, so close to everything and yet very low profile- I had no idea this little oasis was there. The cabin is right on the water, with big windows so you can look out and enjoy it at all times. I had fun fishing off the dock. The decks with connecting ladder were quite a treat. Hoped to trade my house and stay there myself- but no such luck! Would be fabulous to stay in winter, and watch the skiers make their way down Shawnee Peak. I was concerned that there might be a lot of road noise- but once you enter through the gate it feels like you are a million miles away from everything, and I forgot the road was even there. Cabin is simple and small- no frills- but fun, clean, and well stocked. Definitely has a camp cabin feel - if you like that, you will be very pleased. Great for winter or summer.

A Lovely Spot for a Summer Week

After staying there 3 times over the last 6 years, I would like to recommend the Chalet as a beautiful spot on the corner of a lovely lake. Each time I have brought my family here we have had a great time on Moose Pond: canoeing, swimming, and – a family favorite – sailing, using the owner’s Sunfish sailboat. The cottage is A-frame style and compact, but it has a lot of sleeping space, a well-supplied kitchen, a charcoal grille, and some good extras, like wireless Ethernet. Its owners make a good effort to keep it well maintained. It is a great place to cook-out, eat at the picnic table, and enjoy the loon calls with the coming on of evening -- or to take your morning coffee, sit on the porch, and look up from your book at the lake and summer sky.

the chalet is on a great location and has 'beautiful' views of the pond and shawnee peak,close to restaurants and shops in bridgton,maine as well as a movie theather. the chalet could use hot water in the sink in the bathroom and the dvd player speaker had an issue with scratchy sound; we could not watch the dvd(s) we brought...other than that the short -long weekend get away was nice!

The camp was amazing. The water was nice, and the view was beautiful. The camp its self was well equipped with many amenities. Many sources of entertainment are available that come with the camp. The boats were nice to go out on and view more of the pond. Also The camp makes for a great large family enviroment.
