This gorgeous vacation spot is just 20 minutes from Sault Ste Marie and has everything to make your get-together as relaxing and fun as possible! The 1800 sq foot ground level floor of a large cedar log home is available to rent with its own full kitchen, living room, gas fireplace, bath with shower, satellite large-screen TV with 2 large queen bedrooms. There's plenty of room for cots or sleeping bags, and a bunk-house attached to the sauna has room for 3-4 kids to sleep just within hearing distance of the adults. Free Wi-fi.
Just outside the ground floor awaits a large gas grill for meals and a separate sauna open year round which quickly warms the whole family. A large private outdoor hot-tub has a spectacular view, often lit by moonlight bouncing off of the water, also available year-round. Kayaks, a canoe, fishing poles and snowshoes are available to use upon request for the athletic minded. Bring your bikes to enjoy a fantastic biking and hiking trail surrounding the lake starting right next to the house. The beach is available for sunbathing, volleyball, or even large bon fires weather permitting.
Perfect for water-skiing and tubing, Monocle Lake is warm and invites all ages to swim any time of day or maybe jump off of the dock. A short walk around the corner, access to the beach of Whitefish Bay of Lake Superior provides a very different lake experience with wind and waves ideal for any water fun!
Washer & dryer and dishwasher are inside for your convenience. A small party store with gas is a 2 mile drive, with a larger service station at 8 miles, and a moderate size grocery store about 9 miles away. ATV, boat, and snowmobile rentals are often available in Brimley town, just 5 minutes from the property. If Brimley doesn't have it, you won't need it to enjoy your vacation!
Area Information
This beautiful cottage is hidden away in the heart of the Eastern Upper Peninsula! Year-round fun will be had boating, biking, hiking, fishing, canoeing, hunting, swimming, snowmobiling, and skiing in the small community of Brimley--just 20 minutes from historic Sault Ste Marie. Within 10 minutes of leaving your private vacation stay, you could be gambling at the King Club or Bay Mills Casino... yet still enjoy the scenery and nature of a small town. During golf season, you can play the beautiful 18-hole Wild Bluff champion course owned by the Bay Mills casino, or visit the Point Iroquois Lighthouse and Museum built in 1871. One of the oldest state parks is literally just down the street, Brimley State Park, also located on the Whitefish Bay of Lake Superior. Beautiful Hiawatha National Forest is surrounding all of the area and a 45 minute ride will bring you to the Tahquamenon Falls where you can watch 50,000 gallons of water fall every second!
In Sault Ste Marie, 20 minutes away from the property location, historic sites such as the Soo Locks, River of History Museum, and Tower of History can be investigated, ending with a walk down "fudgie lane". You can enjoy the Sault's 40,000 sq foot Kewadin Casino or visit Canada via the International Bridge (passport required). Forty-five minutes south sits St. Ignace where a ferry can be taken to Mackinaw Island, or you can cross the Mackinac Bridge to visit Fort Mackinac, an 18th century fort originally built to protect the Island.
And if fluff and snow is your thing, enjoy over 6000 connected snowmobile trails that pass right through downtown Brimley or ski the biking trails cross-country. Whatever your pleasure, anything but traffic and crowds awaits you as you relax in your log-cabin getaway in the UP!

summer family vacation good time had by all

The house was beautiful and had everything needed.the sauna was great and loved the hot tub. Had cool rainy weather but that made sauna and hot tub that much better. Bon fire on the beach with marsh mallows perfect while watching shooting stars. Kyaking super fun and the kids had a good time fishing and actually catching some on this lake. Almost everyday afternoons got nice so we could get out some in the sun and the scenery made great pictures. whole family enjoyed this trip it was very relaxing!!!

Best Summer Vacation in Many Years!

We enjoyed our week very much! The weather was beautiful! The cabin was immaculate! The Friday fish fry at The Cozy set the tone for the week ahead...fun, fun, fun! One afternoon we rode our bikes across the road to Lake Superior and then rode down to the lighthouse! We drove to Tahquamenon Falls on another day. We canoed around the lake during the day and enjoyed the hot tub in the evening! Can't wait for next year! Thank you, Roger!

AMAZING!

This perfectly located house had something to do for all ages. Swimming, fishing, kayaking, hiking, and RELAXING! The pictures don't truly show how beautiful this house is. The biggest plus was having a full size kitchen with plenty of cabinet and counter space to cook anything needed. It was also great being able to do laundry and having a nice gas grill to do BBQ. The hot tub, sauna, and big screen tv were added bonuses. We liked having a variety of food options in Brimley and then having the Soo so close. It was a pleasure staying here and we hope to be back. It was fun hearing a family on a pontoon boat go by the house and say "I want to live there!" We smiled and were proud to be staying here.

Great place! Will go there again!

We had such a great experience here. We had 4 generations of our family and with the 4 bedrooms and expansive living room area we had lots of space to move around and enjoy each others company, but yet with the privacy we needed. When we are back in the area again, I'm sure we'll stay at this wonderful home.

Peaceful comfort

House was neat, clean and more than adequately equipped. Lots of porch space with furniture front and back. Lovely view of the beach. Fires allowed on the beach and there was firewood available as well as drift wood. Beds were comfortable. Satellite reception spotty as was cell but expected in an out of ways location. Easy drive to lighthouses and other hiking areas.

Definitely a repeat vacation!!

The pictures on this website were gorgeous but when we go here it was even better!! The weather was beautiful, the lake was clean, clear and gorgeous and the house was spotless, beautiful and tastefully decorated! This is the type of vacation where you actually relax! The dock was perfect for sitting on and reading a book while the kids were swimming. The canoe was used every day for fishing and checking out the rest of the lake. Hiking trails around the lake got used. The fire pit on the beach was perfect for roasting hotdogs and marshmallows. Everything here was top of the line including the grill, lawn chairs and the house itself. This is one vacation you won't regret going on. Oh, if you want some wave action, just drive east on the main road about 10 miles to Big Pine overlook and enjoy the gorgeous Lake Superior beach. We will be back!!

Peaceful....

Stay the week of September 19th...very peacful and relaxing. The owner lives above; however, this was not a problem at all with regard to privacy...we barely saw him and did not hear him! The lake is beautiful and clean. Had a ball fishing for bass (and releasing)...used the canoe and took a walk around the lake. Nights are so quiet and tranquil. Visited Taquemenon Falls, Mackinaw Island, The Shipwreck Museum, and took the Soo Locks Boat Tour - recommend all of it...the "Falls" were just lovely...both upper and lower. House is well equiped with everything you need. There is a Super WalMart in Sault Ste. Marie for all your grocery needs at a reasonable price. We were celebrating our anniversary so at the owner's suggestion we dined at Arturo's in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Oh my...what an AWESOME italian dinner!!! Pricey but worth every penny! We would gladly return to this cabin if we find ourselves in the UP in the future and will certainly recommend it. Hot tub was a definate plus!

Fantastic getaway

Our family enjoyed this beautiful place. We all took turns using the canoe and kayak that were available for our use. The view was spectacular and the hospitality amazing. I would highly recommend this cabin for anyone wanting a great northern escape. It is close to everything and you can still enjoy lake superior even though you are nestled in on a private smaller lake. We made some lifelong memories on our stay.

Beautiful Home

We really enjoyed our stay in this home. It is a beautiful home and well maintained. Everything was so clean. This home is located so that we were able to go for day trips and short trips during our stay. However our favorite parts were swimming in the lake, boating on the lake and fishing in the lake. We very much enjoyed our visit to the Bear Ranch. It is a beautiful home and a pleasure to work with Barb. She was very helpful since we really didn't know the area. She patiently answered all of our questions. I would recommend this home to others.

The best vacation value in Northern Michigan

The lower level of the house on Monocle Lake, which was exactly what was advertised, was in perfect condition when we arrived. The furnishings were very tasteful and matched the log construction of the home. The appliances were in like new condition and as clean as could be imagined. The all wood interior was also in beautiful shape. The setting on the lake was second to none. The home faced state owned land and was the last lot before the state forest property began. The state property which abutted the lot was a beach that had no parking available so was only used by a few local residents. You could only see the cabin next door if you walked onto the dock. We caught many large and small mouthed bass from the dock, the canoe and the kayak that were provided. The gas grill was in very good shape and I could not find one thing that was advertised that was not high a quality as could be imagined.-including the hot tub. It is only a one mile walk to a lighthouse and just a few minute walk to Lake Superior. If I were ever to return for a stay in the Brimley or Saulte St. Marie area I would stay here again.
