Total peace and quiet
February 16, 2015
This cabin is beautiful. Everything you need is there. The view and the quiet are unbeatable. Lots of room for the dog to run around and explore. Nice beach with plenty of oysters. Would be a great romantic getaway.
Perfect Winter Getaway
November 29, 2014
This is the perfect winter getaway. Fire-up the stove and relax with the comforts of home but the privacy and beauty of Dabob Bay. The amenities are thoughtful and everything one would need for a long weekend. We were very happy to have a kitchen at our disposal and enjoyed some warm and wonderful meals while listening to the storms. We appreciate all the touches the owners have made to make this a wonderful stay. In return, we respected their property for others to enjoy.
Great Honeymoon Place
October 27, 2014
We had a wonderful time. The place was cozy and the perfect setting for or honeymoon. we took walks with our dogs and sat on the deck in the evening or by the fireplace and relaxed. There was a red tide so we could not dig oysters but maybe next time. We would rent it again. The locals were very friendly. Thank you very much.

What a GREAT place!
October 23, 2014
My cousin and I came to the Point Whitney Beach House for rest, relaxation, visiting and a bit of sewing. The first day of our stay the weather was so beautiful we sat out on the deck sipping wine and enjoying the beautiful surroundings until evening, even though it was late October. We loved every moment of it. The rains came for the remainder of our visit, but we still loved every moment of it. This wonderfully appointed cozy cabin has everything you could possibly imagine from the great kitchen to the charming wood stove. And the owners have maintained it so well that you just bring in your groceries, your sweats, a bottle of wine and you are set for a wonderful, warm, get away. Two friendly restaurants serving very good food are just down the road, so when you get tired of cooking, you just jump in the car and drive for a few minutes for a fine breakfast or dinner. If you are fortunate enough to be able to enjoy this great place, be sure to visit the Goeduck Tavern for a basket of oysters or prawns. YUM! We had a super time and will be back.

This home was really fun in the summer and would be cozy and fun in the winter...nice view of water and trail down to beach not hard even for older folks with a hand. Lots of oysters on beach. Owners so nice and helpful it was almost unbelievable.

We returned from our long weekend on Hood Canal full of joy - and full of seafood! Oysters were plentiful, but hauling any number of them up the trail, in the shell, was a chore. The second (and third!) time around we shucked them on the beach, brought up some nice weathered oyster shells from the beach, and cooked them on the bbq "on the half shell". They were deliciious. Short drives to Dosewallips and Quilcene provided all the steamer clams we could possibly want, and a few rings just offshore proved beneficial. No legal dungeness, but numerous rock crab, and they were good (think crab benedict)! Morning coffee on the deck was a treat, and we ate all of our meals outside on the deck as well. The weather was wonderful all weekend (mid to high 80's). Our original group of 5 adults and 2 children (1 being a toddler) ended up to be just 4 adults. In reality, I think we would have felt crowded had there been more than the four of us. The sleeper sofa would have provided enough sleeping space, but the basic living space is small. Like another reviewer, I wouldn't have considered the loft space as usable except for the young and agile between the ages of perhaps 8 and 30. The cabin is delightfully decorated and well stocked. It is a very private location, and I loved that about it. It was very clean on our arrival, and everything was as it had been presented. The owner was wonderful about communicating with me via. email also.. The highlight of our weekend was the engagement of our daughter and her sweetheart. They went for a walk down the trail to the beach on Friday evening after his arrival. When they came back up the trail about an hour later, they were engaged. He proposed to her as they sat on the beach, the big "super moon" glistening across the water as it rose in the night sky,. It was a beautiful evening. This home, and its surroundings, will always hold a special place in our hearts, and theirs as well. That said - there are just a couple of minor details that could be addressed. The "open wall" construction would be an easy fix, and would result in significantly more privacy. Both beds are very squeaky and creaky. Just rolling over caused a fair amount of noise. Beds were comfortable. Just noisy. Perhaps another easy fix? Again- we had a wonderful weekend, and we will definitely be back again! There is talk of a destination wedding up on the canal, so who knows? We may be back sooner than later.

The cabin was situated in a very forested area and the beach was a fun walk down some very architecturally interesting stairs. You could hear all different kinds of birds and there was so much wildlife! I would definitely stay again.

The cabin is just as advertised. What a great place! We had a great time! The owners were extremely easy to work with.

Peace and Quiet!
September 25, 2013
This nicely built cabin is definitely a getaway, but it was not as isolated as I expected. There's a small store nearby and a coffee stand in Quilcene so Seattleites won't go thru withdrawal. Do take your own grocerys and supplies. The kitchen is pretty well outfitted for cooking, has a coffeemaker, pots, pans, soap etc. The view is lovely and for the one afternoon that we had sun we were visited by a Blue Heron as we sat out on the deck surveying Hood Canal listening to Huskies Football on the outdoor speakers (nice touch!) . It's easy to get to, and was a good jumping point for Pt Townsend, Sequim and Pt. Angeles. A bit far, but the drive is beautiful. If you're into wineries you can go to Pt Angeles and Sequim one day for a good selection of wineries, and Pt. Townsend another day for more (and for fun shopping). The beach will not be readily accessible for folks that have difficulty with elevated "trails".

Had a great time, weather was 80 degrees, cabin worked out well. The nice folks at Cove RV were great. Went swimming in the canal, ate clams and used the nice barbecue at the house. We were impressed with the view, the trail down to the private beach, and the location of the cabin.

This is an absolutely gorgeous setting. The house/cabin is immaculate and extremely comfortable. Everything was there and in great condition and very very clean. We had an incredibly relaxing and wonderful stay. The cabin is secluded and quiet with deer and other wildlife cruising the property. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect get-a-way.

The house is exacty as pictured and much, much more. This is a charming place with a spectacular view. We enjoyed our time driving to various locations but always looked forward to the return to Cotty's cabin. It was the perfect accomodation for my husband and I, and we brought along our daughter and our 5 year old granddaughter. This was a trip of many first for her. One first that we all shared was going down to your beach (and that is a bit of a climb for us older ones) and we gathered some oysters and grilled them...YUM! We had 2 deer visit us on our first day. We picked a few blackberries...again YUM! Anyone staying here will be very pleased.

3 of us couples stayed and we brought out little dogs, what a wonderful place, so quite , away from the city. Every amenity you can think of, with tons of oysters. We have already booked a weekend for this year, cant wait
Fall is a perfect time to visit Daybob Bay!
October 31, 2012
Your beautiful, clean, and fully equipped cabin was the perfect escape for us. We loved how quite and peaceful it was - and how fresh the air is there! More oysters than any two people can eat, but with a nice white wine, we ate our share. Endless quite stretch of beach with not another person around. We were glad to see how clean the beach was, and lots of shells and sea life to watch. We had planned to play horseshoes, but got so busy exploring the beach and the quaint little towns close by. The most amazing nursery is just down the road in Brinnon. We were surprised to find such a world class nursery tucked away over there. We did walk up the Dosewalips river for a few miles. What a gorgeous walk/hike that was with all the fall leaves and rushing water. But, of course, the best of it was being in that adorable cabin, with a fire roaring, a glass of wine....and all the beautiful water to look at. If your looking for a perfect place to surprise your sweetheart, it doesn't get any better than this! Everything you need is there....just bring food; they've got you covered. Two gas barbeques, one for oysters, and one for that nice filet of salmon you might bring along. Lots of outdoor seating on a large deck facing the water. We bundled up one afternoon and ate outside...just because it was so beautiful even on a cloudy day. The beach is a bit of a switch-back to get down to, but it's manageable - we are not spring chickens :} My husband was a bit leary about "what will we do there". But, he's totally wanting to go back now. So, if you go with your honey, or a group of friends - you will love this place; cozy, cozy, cozy...Cotty's Cottage! Thank you Richardson family for sharing your gem with us! Alan & Darla Quick

We stayed here for a week, and couldn't have been more pleased. It was a wonderful home base for all kinds of Peninsula adventures, and Seattle, too, since it was only a few hours to the 'big city,' and then we could return to the peacefulness of the cabin. From Port Townsend to Seattle to Hurricane Ridge to Pacific Beach, everything was within easy driving distance --- we put over a thousand miles on the rental car, but one day, we just stayed put and picked berries! The deck is spacious and the views are relaxing; sunrise over the water with our morning coffee was a favorite time of day! Every amenity is top notch, from the washer & dryer to the ice maker to the TV to the new couch to the grills to the bed to the towels... we hope to return next fall for a repeat visit!

A relaxing vacation

Extended family from out of state joined us for our stay. We had a wonderful time enjoying the property and took full advantage of the water.....kayaking, crabbing, etc. The walk to the beach is steep but doable even for toddlers and seniors.

What a great place. The cabin is meticulously furnished and totally comfortable. The kids loved the loft beds and dad really liked the big BBQ. We brought along our rowing dingy and launched it at Pt Whitney, just 0.30 mi N of the cabin. Rowed back to the cabin and set out the crab pot. Six hours later we had three very nice crabs. Again, what a great place.
June 26, 2012
The cabin was absolutely wonderful! This was our first cabin rental on Hood Canal. The cabin was spacious and nicely decorated. Our family enjoyed playing games around the dining room table or just sitting at the bar chatting while meals were prepared in the kitchen. We also liked having a TV for watching movies in the evening. The washer and dryer were also nice features. The property felt very private. The beach was wonderful for collecting oysters (supplying current tide tables would be helpful). We would definitely rent the cabin for another family vacation!

We miss your cabin already!
May 31, 2012
We had a great time in the cabin. We were blown away on how the property looked like inside and out. With the exemption of a couple groups of people coming in the property in different days to use the trail access. It was not a big deal but just a little nuisance considering our family was on vacation and expecting no strangers because it is supposed to be a private property and thinking we had a complete privacy in our time at the cabin. I agree with the other poster regarding the futon, it needs to be replaced or at least the frame need to be fixed. We caught a lot of oysters and kids had a blast at the beach. I will surely recommend this place to all my friends. My kids miss the cabin already. We will surely come back soon. Thanks Bill for all the prompt assistance and communication in our entire stay.
Edward, I'm glad you had a good time at the cabin. You will be happy to here that the livingroom futon has been replaced with a very comfortable couch with fold out queen been that has the usual thin mattress with a inflatable mattress ontop. Very comfortable for sitting and sleeping ( by Lazy Boy). As far as people coming through the property to access the beach, this almost never happens and I've addressed the issue with the realtor listing the property next door so that we can have notice of any showings in the future.

Awesome weekend, couldn't ask for better weather. Great view, and we enjoyed fresh caught shrimp oysters and clams. We will definetly rent again in the future. The mooring bouy is a great plus.

A perfect retreat
May 9, 2012
We were on a tight schedule finding a place was a bit difficult until I contacted Bill with the Point Whitney Beach House. He was very accommodating and made room for us in a pinch. The pictures do not do this property justice. Very secluded but close to quick needs. No large towns close but that is the way we like it. My wife and I met our son and his wife for a weekend of clamming and exploring and it was the perfect home base that you could imagine. Everything worked well from the heat to hot water to an easy to use kitchen to the stereo to the TV. Beds were comfortable and even being 6'6" and my son being 6'7" they were just fine. My wife loved the interior being all wood and I loved the large deck to just set outside and enjoy the trees and. We picked oysters on the beach and when we sat down on a log by the waters edge it was amazing how you heard absolutely NOTHING! Hard to find somewhere like that. If you are looking for a big time party area with lots of people around you may be disappointed with this property. But if you want to get away, recharge the batteries, spend some real quality time with your spouse or family this is a great choice. We love it, and will return as said many times by my wife as we were prying ourselves off the chairs to leave. Thanks Bill your family has a gem! Gary and Jani Schaefer

Besides being no running water, the place was OK. The furniture in the living room is not very comfortable and should be replaced. The location is fantastic, the oysters were plentiful.
Greg, sorry about the well pump failure during your stay, thats all been fixed and in perfect working order. Agreed the living room futon has seen many visitors and needs to be retired. We plan to replace it early this spring. The trail/stairs to the beach have recently been re-done as well and are much more easy to navigate with a pale of oysters in hand.
March 28, 2012
My friends and I had a wonderful time. The cabin was very cozy and had a nice open floor plan. There was not a lot of sound privacy (walls do not reach all the way up to ceiling), but we found that to be a plus. Oysters were plentiful (but bring gloves to avoid cuts) and the cabin was well stocked with necessities. No wifi and signal isn't strong but great place to bond in nature. We couldn't have found a better place!

Great Retreat Get-Away!
March 27, 2012
My Husband and I were looking for a place to rest and re-charge. We hit the jackpot at this cabin! We walked in and felt at home. It was spotless clean and well stocked for every need from linens, kitchen, fire wood, barbques! The list goes on! First class all the way. We had our goldendoodle and she loved the yard and the beach. We got a few oysters and they were incredible!! It was quiet and peaceful. The view from the cabin is amazing! The couch is a futon and not very comfortable for sitting, I woud not sleep on it but kids could as well as the loft. The owner was very easy to make arrangements with. Pack a suitcase and food and your set. Even paper towels and coffee filters are provided! We loved it and will go back and hopefully stay longer next time and bring our horseshoes!

Awsome adventure at the end of our vacation. Our 4-legged children adored the house, porch, yard & beach, as did we. Looking forward to more adventures at this wonderful property! The challenging beach access is the only reason for less then a 5!
August 9, 2011
This is a great place to stay, as we enjoyed this home with our out-of-town guests. The listing is as advertised and was perfect for our two families with younger kids (age 4 to 8). Amazing wildlife came directly on the property, including bald eagles and deer, the latter of which came nibbling on the bushes in the morning. Access to the beach was a bit challenging but certainly do-able as kids (and adults) were able to make it up and down easily and safely. As noted in another review, the loft access is steep and could be challenging for younger kids and older folks, but is no problem for young adults. All in all, this was a very nice getaway. In addition (a real bonus), the owner is honest, straight-forward and a very enjoyable to work with. We will definitely look forward for a chance to visit again.
Actually, 3 and 1/2 stars
March 29, 2011
There were four of us who used the home just for sleeping. It is cozy and attractive, with a lovely view. We would have liked room for a fifth person to sleep, but found that we could not use the loft -- which is advertised as sleeping space for two. Access to the loft is via a steep straight-up-and-down ladder which was too much of a challenge for our knees and shoulders. I suggest that the "loft" sleeping space be more precisely described. Also, having only one shower was a handicap. The home was clean and orderly and the driving directions and instructions about opening gates, etc., were accurate.

Great Getaway on the Canal
March 15, 2011
We recently stayed at Cotty's Cabin on the Hood Canal in Brinnon, Wa. We could not have been more impressed with not only the very reasonable rates, but how cozy and comfortable our two families were for three nights. The cabin is very current and clean with great ammenities to offer, wildlife viewing, shellfish(oysters) and even some salmon fishing was all available at Cotty's. Thank you for a truly memorable weekend, we surely will be back next year... If not sooner. The House Families

Quiet, with a great view.
March 7, 2011
My wife and I stayed at the cabin President's Day weekend and really enjoyed the view, the fireplace, how remote the cabin is (no highway or street sounds), and put the cabin on our list of places to re-visit. The deck around the cabin is great for eating outside, or just kick back and read a book. The beach access is a scramble that is not for people with limited mobility, for sure, but we were fine with that.
March 7, 2011
A truly wonderful escape from town, with a perfect balance between having what you need to enjoy yourselves (or being able to quickly obtain it) and having the feeling of being far away from everyone else. First of all, the oysters. In February they are pristine and extraordinary, and savoring them on the half shell on the banks of the canal in a snow squall is a highlight. Sharing them in the cabin with a glass of wine before the lovely wood stove while the snow continued to pile up was enchanting. We experienced well over half-a-foot of snow during our visit, and it made everything even more special. No trouble getting down and back from the banks of the canal, and the wood stove kept us lazy and tranquil. My daughter repeatedly told me it would be the perfect place to live. I did not hear an automobile the entire vacation. Perfect.

Cozy peaceful cabin
December 17, 2010
We were actually scheduled to stay over Thanksgiving, but with unexpected company and unexpected snowfall we were able to post pone our stay for a week. We had a wonderful time walking on the beach and eating fresh oysters. The wood stove heated the cabin up nicely and we just relaxed and had a great time playing games in the evening. Thank you so much, we'll be back.
November 15, 2010
The cabin was perfect. Everything was stocked and in place. Regarless of weather there was plenty to do and see. The view fromt the wrap around deck was stunning. The beach was beautiful and clean. Oysters were plentiful and easy to collect. We had a seal stay within 40 feet of us the entire time we harvested. The seperate oyster BBQ on the deck was ready for the feast. Kitchen had everything needed to prepare a nice meal. Coffee in the morning looking out through the many windows or any of the 3 sets of french doors was surpurb. We will be back for sure.

Great price for a great cabin.
June 8, 2010
This cabin caught our eye because of its very reasonible price and proximatey to the Lena Lake trail head. We were only looking for a place to sleep after days spent training for a Rainier climb. The cabin ended up being a great place to relax. It has a great mountain feel about it, is on a private and secluded lot, and has stairs leading down to the beach. We were able to collect oysters and had a great meal. I highly recommend this cabin to anyone reading this. We will be back.
Great Cabin on Hood Canal
April 5, 2010
The cabin sits on a beautiful high bank waterfront piece of land. The cabin is clean and well stocked. A great beach is only 1/2 mile away. Great access to several national forest hikes. If you are looking for a quite place to relax, this is one that will not disappoint.
It's everything as described and them some I will come back and stay as often as I can.
