Description of the Brooklin vacation cottage rental

Situated on one of the most inviting sretches of the Maine Coast, the "Wawenock" cottage is located on a wooded acre with more than 60 feet of unobstucted water views.

This historic cottage, built circa 1896, retains much of its original charm, with a huge brick fireplace, four bedrooms upstairs, and a small but fully equipped kitchen.

Private steps off the front yard lead to a secluded beach, a perfect spot for kayaking or a picnic. The lookout Inn, a five minute walk through the woods, offers fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere for those who prefer not to cook.

One hour from Acadia National Park, and just 15 minutes from the charming town of Blue Hill.

Summer rates are $1000 per week for up to seven people.

Area Information

Beautiful wooded area called Flye Point after one of its original inhabitants, Letty Flye. It consists of a small enclave of cottages and homes with spectacular views and easy access to Bluehill Bay. The area is pefect for hiking, boating, kayaking, biking, or just relaxing.

Come to see the fall colors in mid to late September thru early October.....they are spectacular! The weather is usually nice through the first week in October.

Relaxing stay in Maine

We have been going to Maine for 20 years. Staying in different spots.This is a charming, rustic cottage facing Blue Hill Bay. The bedrooms(4) are comfortable, the bathrooms (1-1/2)adequate-the shower is small. The charm is the porch and master bedroom view of the bay, the dawn sun streaming in your windows, the slight walk to the rocky coast that was yours alone.I shared coffee with my wife on the granite rocks every morning.My son beach combed for miles finding star fish, clams, mussels,razor mussels, perriwinkles and baby eels. The birding was fabulous. Brooklin is a charming village with a General Store and a divine gourmet shop called The Cave that has excellent food and wine to go.The Look Out Inn is a short stroll from the cottage with great (not cheap but nothing is cheap in Maine anymore) meals, a great view and cocktails.You have easy access to Blue Hill and then on to Ellsworth for the Big Chicken Barn-best book store in Maine. Surry for dinner at The Surry Inn. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. This is a great location, private and quiet. No TV but cell service was great.No wifi Fireplace every evening and had bbq on the back porch. Nice kitchen supplies. Lobsterman up the road.All linens.Great artesian water. They clean up after you. Well worth the price.

Our stay was wonderful. There were four of us, all adults(retired). We walked every day and picked wild blueberries, we visited Bar Harbour and Arcadia National Park, we visited Blue Hill where we found great restaurents. We also toured the coastline, just beautiful! The cottage is in a quiet area. We read and sat by the ocean and loved every minute, even the lobster boats early in the AM
