Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are the most fun things to do here?
A: This is a friendly place for people of all ages. We have lots of space, trails and gravel roads on which to walk and hike. The ocean is a great draw for its peaceful sights, coastal smells, and the feel of soft sea breezes. Adventure! It awaits in the small coastal towns of the Blue Hill Peninsula.
Q: What's going on around here?
A: There are some great restaurants, drive-in/take-out seafood joints, some very sophisticated arts and galleries, the Kneisel Hall Music School, several small theater companies that do productions throughout the vacation season. There is the Stonington Opera House too that has something going on there on a near daily basis. There are AMAZING farmers markets and organic growers. Wow, there are many preserves in which to hike and explore. Take the Mailboat to Isle au Haut and have lunch at Black Dinah Chocolates...This is a must do day trip to see the town of Stonington from the harbor and to set foot on an island that doesn't have a car ferry.
Labor Day Weekend is highlighted by the Blue Hill Fair...come see the sheep dog trials. Those dogs are soooo smart and so much fun to watch as they corale the sheep and other animals.
