Description of the Brush Creek Forest vacation home rental
The main floor features a custom kitchen, hardwood floors, a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, arched windows and a bedroom with a king-sized bed, flat-screen TV and DVD player. A private rear deck stretches the length of the home and overlooks the winding creek and on-site private stocked fishing pond (catch and release only). The rear deck also features both a charcoal grill & a gas grill.
The loft, with its full-sized bed, plus full-sized futon, features its own full bathroom with Jacuzzi tub!
The lower level features 2 bedrooms (1 queen & 1 full), 1 bath, full-size washer & dryer, and lounge area with 55" TV, DVD and Wii gaming system, a wide selection of books and board games, plus a wood stove for chilly nights.

Top Notch Family Getaway

We stayed here for the first of what we hope will be many years of vacations with our daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter (and one on the way!). The grounds are beautiful, the house is incredible and the owners are so easy to work with. They have thought of everything to help you have a good time. From the hammocks hanging between the trees, to the patio where I listened to the birds while reading a book, to the fire pit area with the cozy circle of chairs, this property says "come on in, relax and forget about whatever was stressing you out". The house is beautiful and spacious for those rainy days and the property is wooded and beautiful to explore on sunny days.

First of all the owners of this property have gone out of their way to provide for about every detail. We have rented homes before but none have gone to the extent they have to provide so much. (All we needed to bring were our clothes and regular weekly groceries.) Plus we were so pleased with the owners going the extra mile to provide extra bikes for our family. Thank you!! The house is very nice and set in a beautiful mountain setting. It is well kept and well maintained. It was so relaxing to just sit out on the front porch or the deck and catch up with the other family that stayed with us. Sitting in the spacious family room provided a comfortable atmosphere to visit in as well. My oldest daughter enjoyed laying in the hammock to read. There is a beautiful fire ring area and also a patio. Going for walks or bike rides on the seldom traveled road as it winds through part of Brush Creek State Forest was great. There are also a few hiking trails within a short drive. The kids loved the fishing. I could go on and on. It was just a great time to spend with our friends and family at such a great place. I boast about this place every time the topic of vacation comes up.

Awesome Place to Stay!

We were a group of athletes who stayed at the home to participate in the endurance triathlon event in Portsmouth. We wanted a "home away from home" where we could stay as a group instead of being cramped in a dingy hotel room. This property lived up to all of the positive reviews and much more. We had more than enough room for all of us (7) and our equipment. It was true what Debbie told me "just bring yourself and your food" and everything else is provided. Although we didn't have too much down time, it was great to have a comfortable home to relax in. The kitchen was very well equipped and the perfect place to make dinner in, and the downstairs area was so comfy to chill and watch tv and just hang out in. Cell reception was pretty null; however, of all of the rooms, we sometimes got a bar or two of reception standing in the main floor bathroom. Having the home phone to use was also great to be able to get in touch with our families. When we first walked in to a note from Lee & Debbie welcoming us, we knew it would be a great time, and it definetly was a great time had by all of us. We hope to be back again next year and maybe stay an extra day so we can enjoy that fire pit that we didn't have the time to enjoy.

What a find!

This place was an amazing escape from our everyday craziness! Close enough to home to prevent us from losing half our trip driving, but far enough away (and remote enough!) that easy access to daily life wasn't a factor. The house was welcoming, stocked with amenities, and the owners were incredibly accommodating. I will definitely rent this property again!

Beautiful!

I hesitate to say what I really thought of the home because everyone will want to rent it and it may not be available next time we want to go! It is a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. We fell in love with the porches and the sound of the creek in the back. The kitchen had everything you might need (except maybe ice... the fridge dispenser wasn't working). We took some lovely drives around the area and visited Miller's and Serpent Mound. We had a wonderful time!

A very Serene Sanctuary

The place is called The Sanctuary and it lived up to it's name.The house was awesome and very well kept. I enjoyed the covered porches immensely. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. It was a very peaceful setting and everything anyone would need was available, the only things you would need are food and clothes. the rest is provided for you. The kitchen was very well equipped. The jacuzzi tub was very inviting and relaxing after hiking around the property too. I have recommended the house to many of my friends and some of them are looking into staying there as well.

My three friends and I stayed at The Sanctuary for a scrapbook retreat. The home was perfectly accommodating to our needs. The only thing we did not have here that we have had at other rentals is internet. It was close enough to drive to the outlet mall a day, drive in to eat at El Charro's, run to Walmart if you need to. Lovely home. We will definitely be back.
