Bucerias (meaning "place of divers") is a quaint little fishing town, that is beginning to attract those who don't want the hustle and bustle of Puerto Vallarta, but want amenities of a vacation resort town. Nestled between Nuevo Vallarta and La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Bucerias is truly coming into its own as a favored spot for vacationers.
Bucerias, which is part of Riviera Nayarit is surrounded by mountains and jungle which donates 345 days of sunshine a year. Bucerias has a steady temperature of 80 degrees F (27 C) during the peak tourist season with a cool breeze at night from the ocean that makes sleeping pleasant.
Bucerias is only 10 km from the Gustavo Diaz International airport (PVR). You can easily take a cab to Bucerias, or for the more adventurous, for $10 Pesos (about $1 USD), you can take a bus into town. Simply cross the walkway and take a bus with "Bucerias" painted on the windshield.
You can tell by the numerous developments and the addition of the Mega store, that Bucerias is growing. There are plenty of restaurants to fit any taste and budget. Try the local favorites such as tacos right on the street, fresh seafood and a wide variety of other places, each unique in their offerings. There are plenty of tours and activities that can be taken, but for many tourists and locals alike, meeting in the cool evening at the town square is a ritual. While eating a fresh Churro, you can meet tourists and locals and exchange in casual conversations.
Bucerias also has many art galleries and a great art walk during the peak season.
There are many shops in town, and many tourists come to Bucerias to get souvenirs that are less expensive than Puerto Vallarta.
Of course, the main reason to be in Bucerias is that it boasts 5 miles (8 KM) of sandy beaches, the longest in Banderas Bay. Apart from Sundays, where the locals bring their families, the beach is relatively quiet and the number of beach sellers is much lower than Puerto Vallarta. The shallow water and the waves are great for boogie boarding and swimming, and the beach makes for great walks and jogging.

Thanks for all your help with our trip! We had a terrific time and the villa and staff are truly exceptional. We LOVED the house — the pool is like a kid’s dream and the staff could not have been nicer to the kids (or to us). We do a family trip like this ever year so we’ve stayed in a lot of similar set-ups and Luis, Lily and Angela are truly extraordinary — they went above and beyond in many ways to ensure we had a great time. We care a lot about food and wine and Lily’s cooking never disappointed. She was very attentive to what we wanted, always created delicious meals and even cooked simpler fare for the little kids.
Luis took great care of us and helped create a number of special occasions — he organized the pinata “party” for the little kids, choreographed the entrance and experience of the great mariachi band for my brother’s surprise birthday party, and generally was always looking for ways to make our vacation a great one.
Once again, we loved the villa and staff, thanks for making it all happen.Happy New Year!

"We have rented villas in Puerto Vallarta the last two years, each time being south of old town and was a bit nervous about renting in Bucerias, north of town and really 25 minutes from downtown Puerto Vallarta. But we never missed it . . .before we had to call taxis to get to restaurants and shopping, at Hacienda Camino we could walk to great restaurants and shopping . .and have a walkable beach only 1/2 block away . .what a benefit. We loved the staff, Luis is great, he is always looking to please. He kept asking us if he could get us anything, and did. Lili, what a cook . .everything we gave her to make, was wonderful . .she is also very pleasing . .Angela . .she completes the team, and they are a team, helping each other in all the duties . .Angela helps Lili in the kitchen and cleans the rooms . .This team is the best we have encountered in our villa rental experience . .The heated salt water pool is a bonus . .its so much better than the chemically treated hotel pool . .and why would you want to go to a hotel with this great option. This villa is all that its descibed to be . . and more. It was very clean, relaxing and enjoyable . . .Our group of five couples have already booked for next year . . .We did hire a driver for one trip into PV, but we also took the local bus to Sayulita and into PV for pennies . . .and what an experience . . I always share my travels with my friends, and they are now asking to join us next year . . We’ll never do a hotel again!
