Description of the Burke vacation home rental

Our 1800’s farmhouse is located 0n 130 private acres right at the base of Burke Mountain, home to never-crowded Burke Mountain Ski Area. Also at the base of the mountain is Burke Mountain Academy, training ground for a number of US Ski Team stand-outs.
The farmhouse has been gently renovated to retain most of the original feel, including many of the original wide board floors and most of the woodwork. Furnishings include microwave, washer and dryer, TV and DVD player. A glass-front gas stove adds a cozy touch to the family room. The house is set up with a small breakfast bar and a full dining room. Two bedrooms are furnished with two twin beds in each; and one is currently furnished with a Queen sized bed.
Rental rates includes all utilities, lawn care and winter plowing. Please call for specifics. The Vermont 9% rooms and meals tax applies to any rentals not exceeding one month and subject to lease agreement.

Area Information

Our farmhouse sits on Pinkham Road, which runs along one side of Burke Mountain and forms a leg of Kingdom Trails, an internationally known and highly acclaimed mountain biking venue. Please check out the satellite view to get an idea of our proximity, yet privacy, from the ski area. Burke Mountain, in association with Kingdom Trails, provides lift service for bikers wishing to ride a number of challenging downhill trails during the summer months. Miles of private trails and Kingdom Trails provide cross country skiing and snowshoeing, as well as mountain biking, all accessible right from the premises. The Farmhouse is only 1/4 mile from whereTrillium Trail meets Pinkham Road.
Three miles away, quaint East Burke Village provides access to gas and groceries, as well as some of the Northeast Kingdom’s finest take-out, casual and fine dining. East Burke Sports provides great skiing, boarding, kayacking and biking sales,service and rental, as does Lyndonville Sports, only 9 miles away. And, for easy access, I-91 is only 10 miles away.
Here, in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom, we're untouched by major growth or sprawl. The area retains its natural beauty and is home to many clean lakes and ponds, excellent for swimming, fishing and canoeing or kayaking. There are many great restaurants scattered about. Catamount Arts, Burke Mountain and other organizations make available a number of concerts, music festivals, art exhibits and sports exhibitions throughout the year. Burke is home to the Burke Mountain Sled Dog Dash each January; and ski races are held at the mountain. A joy in any season, the Northeast Kingdom is well known for its hunting, fishing,skiing, snowmobiling, mountain biking, hiking and outstanding fall foliage.

We stayed at this very nice place on our mountain biking trip, super clean and charming in a very peacefull area of East Burke. We were there on the week-end of the 4th of July and even got to see fireworks from our "Fire-Pit"... very cool. Thanks for everything Ken, see you soon ;)

The place was just perfect!! It is a large house that is most comfortable, very clean, well appointed, and above all, extremely charming. The location is amazing. The owner was very responsive to all of our requests and needs while we were there. He was very helpfull. We had a wonderful trip and we can't wait to return! We go mountain biking every year in East Burke and this is certainly my #1 place. Thanks again Ken! ;)

We are a family of four who rented for the 2010 ski season (Dec. to March) and we could not have been happier with our choice. This house is ideal for skiers and bikers. It's a five-minute drive along a scenic road to get to the base lodge. The house itself is spotless, and virtually all of the amenities are brand new. There's a separate area for storing skis/bikes, and the morning views of the mountain are spectacular. Ken and Linda welcomed us, and made sure that we had a wonderful winter. We give this house our highest recommendation.
