A Cabo Matapalo beach and rainforest retreat

I just wanted to say that we had thoroughly wonderful time last week at
Kapu. John was responsible for a lot of it. His great attitude, kindness,
way he managed the place, and above all the cooking was First Class. It's a
lovely place and John made it a very pleasant experience. We also enjoyed a
half day hike/tree climb with Andy & Terrie from Everyday Adventures. Many
of the people who live in Matapalo were so helpful and very fun. So, thank
you for our time at your vacation home. We hope to return again some day.
Hopefully John will still be there too.

I've been there numerous times in recent years and took my son two years ago
when he was only nine. We stayed two weeks and he didn't want to leave when
the time came.
I surf a lot and spend most of my energy and time doing that when I'm down
there. But there's plenty of other things to do instead! The hiking,
horsebacking or just exploring. Just stepping out the front door can be
exciting with all the wildlife and plants everywhere. And I really mean
that!!! It's not unsafe by any means it's just so natural.
The area the Rancho is located in is absolutely a piece of paradise and is
probably more beautiful then you've been told or even can imagine. I'm not
trying to make anything sound any better then it is, I just want to make sure
you KNOW this is a special spot.
Franklyn is and has always been completely honest and upfront with me in all
of our business dealings. I would give him a solid reference and trust him
with any kind of business dealings or with any information he may give you
about the Rancho. He's a great guy and loves the place dearly. He wouldn't
want it to bring you or anyone else anything but happiness.
I know this may be a little short but if you'd like to call me and talk more
in depth about any questions you may have please feel free to.
Now I want to go back!!!! Ha!


Dear Irene and Franklyn,

It has already been several weeks that we got back from your
place on the beautiful Osa Peninsula!

Missing the wonderful jungle and the abundant world of the
animals we got caught up in way too much work and business
travels. However, we treasure the memories and keep nourishing
the dream of at least part time living in Costa Rica.

Thank you so much for the beautiful setting that you created
there!

I wanted to thank you for our trip to Kapu. My wife and I had an incredible time for our honeymoon. I have passed on the info to many friends that are interested in staying with you especially after seeing our photos and hearing our stories. Please pass on special thanks to Joey from us. He made our trip. He organized hiking tours, a boat trip, secret surf beaches for us, etc. His cooking was world class. He was a workaholic. His interest in our comfort and security was obvious. He also fixed my surfboard for free (which was very important being the only board I had with me). We'll be back next year.

I just wanted to write and thank you for Kapu. I think it's safe to say the
4 of us had one of the greatest weeks of our lives. Long live Kapu!! John
Hannegan and Sonia made our stay as pleasant as could be. John is a
tremendous asset for Kapu, making us feel welcome from the minute we
arrived. His meals were delicious and his advice on surf priceless. He was
friendly, funny, and incredibly helpful. Kapu was always secure, clean, and
stocked w/supplies. Sonia is a wonderful cook and very friendly. We loved
having her around.

I think it's safe to say, we will be returning to Kapu someday. Hopefully
that day will come soon. Thank you again, Franklyn, for letting us stay at
Kapu, a very special and secure place.
