ruined vacation

My husband and I saw this "best deal" advertised on the internet and thought it would be perfect for us. We traveled nearly 10 hrs to get there, and had saved for nearly a year to enjoy 14 days of peace and quiet. Well, we climbed the three stories to the apt. where, when opening the front door was greeted with the strong odor of cigarette smoke, although this was listed as a non-smoking unit. But, after traveling all that way, we bought an air freshener and were ready to stick it out. Then, on the 3rd day of "peace and quiet", roofers, directly over our heads, began ripping, hammering and stomping-replacing the roof-for all but 5 days of our 14 day stay! When the owner finally returned our calls, she agreed that it was, indeed, "unfortunate", but the "only thing she could do was give us a discount next yr??wemay not even be alive by then! Then, she suggested we use the "diner card" left there to get ourselves a nice breakfast out-this card is not honored in any local restaurant, and why, when we spent most of our money to rent someplace with a "fully equipped kitchen, would we want to "eat out". Incidentally, the pots and pans are rusty and the teflon flaking off. Cute little balcony with little biting ants, also awaits you! So, no, I definately would not recommend this place to anyone wanting a "quiet get-away". Being on the third floor, corner unit where traffic runs by day and night is not quiet. And, if you're a smoker, all is well, as smoking is also allowed in the pool area. It's not worth the money spent. IF we ever return, it will be a smoke free unit closer to the beach.

Wonderful Snowbird retreat.

We really enjoyed our extended winter getaway in this lovely appointed 2 b/rm. condo. We were very comfortable and had a marvellous time. The condo is close to Sunset beach, the village of Calabash and many fine golf courses. Being a ground floor condo it’s nice to be able to sit outside and not be encumbered by balcony railings. When our friends dropped by, we could easily entertain them all outside by sitting on the lawn. We have already re-booked for next winter getaway (:-).

Carolina Shores Condo Stay

First of all, the person who met us to let us in seemed frightened to be in the area after dark. The door lock was not working, although the deadbolt worked. The tv did not work. The place smelled very strongly of what seemed to be cigar smoke. All my clothes smelled. There were no towels although it was advertised as linens being furnished. We had to go to the dollar store and buy towels. The place was tiny. On a good note, it was clean and decorated well. As a matter of fact, we moved someone else after the first night and just forfeited our three-night money we had already paid because my allergies could not handle the smell.

Absolutely Beautiful!

We always stay in Myrtle Beach. But last time we were there my wife made me drive a little way up the coast to where the inlet is and we found Calabash, A quaint little fishing village. This time we looked for a place in Calabash and we found this beautiful villa here and we absolutely adored it! We got away from the crowded hotels and we still went to all the attractions of Myrtle Beach!

We found this place to be a great place to relax. We played golf around the corner and at Farmstead, just a short drive from here. Too cold for the beach but we did have a couple of walks along the shore. Drove to Myrtle Beach - definately use the 31/9 bypass to save time! Appreciated the wonderful bed, complete kitchen and the decor. Lynn and Rick - Forrest, Ontario

We've had a wonderful long weekend getaway at this cozy condo. We had wonderful weather for days spent at Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset as well. The pool was nice to come home to and cool off before getting ready for dinner every night. We ate meals at the Boundary House, Sharkey's, Landshark Grill, Fibbers on the Water and Landry's at Broadway st the Beach. My family rents a house at garden city every year so I am more familiar with that area but Calabash was an amazing surprise! We enjoyed ice cream at the Creamery EVERY DAY! Thanks for allowing us to stay! This has been a great mini vacaton and we look forward to returning soon!

Dear Judy & Frank,
Like your previous guests, our stay was fabulous! Thank you so much for being so inviting and hospitable. We travel a lot and we know when we've found a jewel. All of your finishing touches for perfection did not go unnoticed. The area is packed with fun activities, good food and lovely people. Thanks again for the wine and flowers. It just made my birthday that much more special! We WILL be back!

Judy & FRank,
Your place is cute and cozy and close to all amenities. Your recommendations for resutarants were right on. We enjoyed the Boundary House, the Parson's Table and Chianti South. Golf at Carolina Shores was close, reasonable and a great spot to play. We were one of the last folks to go over the floating drawbridge to Sunset Beach.:(

I almost hesitate at writing a review, wanting to keep this lovely condo my own little secret, but when one comes across something as wonderfully charming as this "love nest", coupled with the experience of getting to know the owners, Judy and Frank, well, I just can't keep this to myself. What a wonderful stay at this lovely, lovely condo. It was everything promised and so much more. The attention to detail is evident everywhere you turn; the condo is immaculate and exquisitely decorated. Very well located, just seconds off the main road, but accessible to anything and everything one would or could want to see and do in this lovely coastal town. This Calabash condo can also be used as a home base for visiting Wilmington and Myrtle Beach without the crowds and headaches of a heavily populated area. It's just minutes from exceptional restaurants and local stores for that oh-so-special shopping that belies a typical tourist trap. Sunset Beach with its wonderful sandy beach is minutes away as well. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to the area and enjoying the owners' exceptional hospitality. This one is a keeper!!

Great place, hospitable owner, great location!

This place was a real find! My friend and I spent a girl's weekend here. It's a great location, with tons to do nearby. The owner is very friendly and obviously cares about her guests. She met us at the condo, provided us with a map, and marked various points of interest in the area. She'd also put together a binder full of possible activities for guests to peruse. The bed sleeps like a dream, and all linens are provided. Myrtle beach is nearby, so we went and enjoyed the attractions there one day. Sunset beach is only a 10 minute drive away. Thanks for a wonderful weekend, Judy!

I love golf and my wife and I both love to cycle. This spot is perfect! Golf is across the street or at 12 to 15 other courses to choose from less than 3 miles away! We spent hours on our bicycles going to the beach at Sunset, the shops, the farms and produce stands, and then jumped into the hot tub! The pool was perfect for those hot summer days and the unit was everything we were told and more! My wife has already asked to reserve next year! Very clean! Beautiful and absolutely top of the line!

My husband and I liked this complex so much we bought here! It really is the best location! We first stayed here during memorial day weekend....how wonderful to be able to get around to all our favorite spots with no traffic pile ups....and no noise! Allow us to share our "little secret for love birds" with you. This is all the good and none of the bad you typically get with a beach vacation. No traffic, no noise, easily get to every place with out waiting a year to make a left turn! The beach is breath taking, the people are soooo friendly. Our hosts checked us in and showed us where everything was on a great little map. Just unbelieveable hospitality and friendly professionalism! The accomodations are up to par with any high end hotel...just a fantastic value all the way around for a VERY affordable price! Honestly, we'd pay a lot more to stay here!

We've been catering to couples for the last six years. Whether it's the girls weekend away or a pair of honeymoon love birds or a young family on vacation, this is the perfect condo in the ideal location!
We look forward to having you as our guests and it shows in every detail. Welcome to a truly wonderful escape!
