Description of the Canada Lake vacation cottage rental

Located on Canada Lake in the Southern Adirondack Mountains, the cottage is located on a large private lot. It includes the use of a 24 foot pontoon boat, 2 canoes, and 2 kayaks.
There are 2 bedrooms in the main house, one with a queen bed, and one with a full bed. There is also a queen size sleeper in the living room. There is a bunkhouse-playhouse with 2 bunk beds, cable tv, dvd, vcr, and traditional board games, located 20 feet from the main camp.
The camp has a working fireplace,(all firewood is provided) washer, dryer, microwave oven, free wireless internet as well as cable tv, dvd, vcr, and video library. All bed linens and towels are provided.
The camp is ideal for families with children. The lake is very shallow at the beach, and gets gradually deeper. there is no steep drop off. The large lawn provides lots of room to play crocket, bad mitten, volleyball, and horse shoes which are all provided. There is also a fire pit at the lakes edge for campfires and roasting marshmellows.

Area Information

The cottage is located 12 miles from Gloversville. Canada Lake connects to 3 other lakes. There are no public campsites on any of the lakes, and one, Lily Lake, is forever wild with no buildings at all. It provides a very peaceful private experience.
There are a number of hiking trails nearby,and Kane Mountain, which is 10 minutes away, offers an easy trail to it's top where a forest ranger fire tower is located. It provides a beautiful view of the area.
The Canada Lake Store can be easily reached by boat or canoe. It is a true "general store" with all kinds of groceries, camping items, Adirondack souvenirs, and gas for boats at it's dock.
Nick Stoner 18 hole golf course is less than a mile away. There are numerous restaurants within a 15 minute drive. Saratoga, the location of The Saratoga Performing Arts Center and the Saratoga Thoroughbred Racetrack, (the home of the Travers horse race each August) is about 45 minutes away.
Johnstown is about 15 minutes away. Sir William Johnson Hall, which is open to the public, played a role in the American Revolution.
Cooperstown is about a 90 minute drive. The Baseball Hall of Fame and the Farmers Museum are both located there.

Family Vacation

This place is a perfect get away for a family vacation. Very relaxing and the owner are amazing, You also get a whole lot of privacy. I definitely recommend this cottage.

No fish in NY

We went to try out the fishing. NY does not stock fish. The waters are empty of any fish. We tried hard for six days. We caught 1 northern pike. BUT our cottage made up for the loss of fishing experience by being on a quite lake with great neighbors and wonderful hosts. If you go during a rainy season, might I suggest you bring boots. you will have to wade through water if you will be sleeping in the bunk house. But once inside you will be very comfortable. There are no air conditioners but the fans supplied helped out just fine. Our hosts were full of information about the area. They helped us get our truck looked at when we thought we might have had a problem with it. turns out all was well. They pointed us in the right directions for dining and area attractions and gave us full use of there pontoon boat, kyacks, canoes, and life jackets.
