Cancun Isla Mujeres: August 14-21, 2003

July 17, 2005

I had a wonderful time. I am glad I stayed on the island instead of Cancun. Took a snorkle trip out to one of the reef areas which was really good. I rented a scooter and went around the island one day and then the next went snorkling at Garraffon Park, they had snuba but I was satisfied with snorkling. Never got around to dive lessons, I quess I'll save that for the next trip. Excellent service at the hotel, I had a villa room with the ocean at my back patio crashing against the rocks, very nice. Travelled to Cancun a couple of times on the the hotel transfer which worked out really well. No problems getting to Puerto Juarez everything went well. I did three days all inclusive not including the 1st and then experienced some of the local eateries, if I was a drinking person I would diffently choose all inclusive but as it was it really wasn't a saving but I loved being able to have room service bring ice cream and having their breakfast in bed option with out worry about the cost. I guess the best thing I liked was renting the scooter and going exploring, it reminded me of Tahiti a long time ago just not as tropical. I did travel to Cozumel and spent the night of the 21st to do some more snorkling before coming home. Thank you for booking Isle Mujeres it was wonderfull.

November 5-14, 2003: Cancun 5*and Boutique

July 17, 2005

Hi Karen, We loved it. Guess what room we got? 8301. We could have had the one in villa 1 but I liked the privacy of the balcony better in 8301. We feel we had the best location in the place. Views from every angle (even from the toilet!). We loved it so much we extended the stay 2 days. The staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. One drawback was the main pool was being worked on when we got there and wasn't filled until Wednesday. We brought this up to Flores, the service rep, and I think this is why he was able to get us the great rate for the extra 2 days. The pool was nice once it was filled but the beach is what I love, so it was really no big deal for me. We went to Boutique on three different occasions once for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not one other customer was in the place each time. We made believe it was our mansion and we had servants. We'd order our food, go play a game of pool. When the food was delivered we'd head back to the dining area and eat. Then we'd get an after dinner drink and go down to the living room area and kickback on the comfortable couches there. It was like we were on Lifestyles of the rich and famous. We loved it. I prefer the 5* to stay at but the Boutique is a nice getaway, epecially if your not all inclusive. Glad we didn't go all inclusive, got us out and about more. Let you in on a secret (if you don't already know), at the member's bar the workers were eating tacos, I asked about them and found out a lady named Flora (I called her mom by the end of the trip) made them homemade for the workers at 6 pesos apiece. I'd go down there and get 4 or 5. Give her a couple buck tip and she was in heaven. She would ask me what kind I wanted the next day and make them special for us. She would save a couple for me each day. She even bought me a gift when I left. Genuinely nice people there. I told Senior Flores I was going to send him an e mail praising the place and the people there. One bummer was at first to get the vip discount card they told us we had to go on the time share presentation. We declined because the 15% is not that big a deal and as long as they were serving us from the mmbers bar without it, it was no big deal. We ended up getting it a couple days later because you needed it to get towels for the beach, so we went back and they got us a card. Senior Flores was not there yet at the time. I liked Isla Mujeres. The place is surrounded by water. The Grand was perfect for us, not too big not too small. The blue water I dream about, waves crashing. We had a great time, I could go on for an hour but I got to get back to reality and try and rmember what the heck I do for a living again. Thanks for all your help and I have a feeling we will be doing this again hopefully, Take care.

Hi Karen. We had a great time on the island. differant, but fun. only rained on wed. for a short time and a few problems with the flight to cancun, but other than that, it's what we wanted. new with the old. found some really good eating places on hidalgo ave. (amigos, picus, rolandi's pizza, taqueria medina was great, and hung out at faynes) i realized that i cannot drink all the beer on the island, but tried very hard. lee ann, member services rep, was good to us...she can talk. the hotel was nice. we stayed in one of the villa's 1031. the sound of the waves outside was great. we didn't do much at the hotel, always out and about the town. had only one problem with a pepping tom one nite outside the balconey. had a great time though and would love to do it again in the future. i will keep in touch about future vacations.

November 22-29, 2004: Cancun Isla Mujeres and Boutique

Hi Karen, Our trip was very good, thank you for following up. We went to Tulum, Xel-Ha, and all around Isla Mujeres. The park at the other end of the island was great. Overall our trip was very good. Our room on the first night on the island was not what we were hoping for. We were moved the next day to one of the rooms overlooking the King's Bath which was very nice. We missed our 2pm boat transfer the first day, but after that everything went smoothly. The resort in Cancun was very nice, very quaint. We were stopped by the timeshare guys at the airport. We didn't realize who they were, lesson learned for us. We will definitely consider going again. Thanks again.

Karen, The trip was great. We really liked the room and the member privileges worked out great. The bartender at the member's bar made really good drinks and they gave us a good discount on food. All in all, everything exceeded our expectations. And, of course, the beach and water in Cancun can't be beat. We were a little concerned when we arrived at the Avalon because the guy at the desk gave us a bad time about the room (said it was not oceanfront) and the member card. He was just trying to get us to go see the time-share people. When we finally got past him, everything was great. All in all, it was one of the best and least expensive vacations we have ever taken. You may be getting some referrals from us. Thanks for your help. Hope you have a great Christmas and New Years.

Hi, We had a great time. The BOB was really cool, though not long enough. Weather was pretty good. Cancun was lovely and not very crowded (running about 50% when we were there). Tell people to bring their paperbacks with them as they cost $13 or more to buy, yikes... The resort is kind of a mixed bag although overall very enjoyable. Minuses - check in was kind of a hassle. For the future, tell your people to reference your name at check in (& they may need to do it off and on getting towels or restaurant too) and tell them what color wrist band they should get (ours were white) and to always double check they are getting the discount at the restaurants and for trips, etc. Pluses - the members bar was nice to have, good pool, corner room was great, location was great, excellent housekeeping service, fine beach, kitchen that you could actually cook a meal in. Also, the staff was incredibly nice. We would stay here again. Thanks Karen and break a leg!

Karen, I just wanted to let you know that Steve and I had a great stay at your resort. It was just what we were looking for. You must have sent a few emails because as soon as your name was mentioned, they were on their toes. We had the top floor (Room 1602) which we thought it was the best studio in the place. The only thing that happened that was weird was the dishes kept disappearing. I called household and a maid bought us those. Thanks again for a wonderful place. I will recommend it to others. Chris

Karen: Just returned from Cancun and wanted to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Both resorts were as you described them, and what we hoped they would be. Our only less-than-positive experience was the usual pressure from timeshare sales people. However, this proved to be a minor annoyance. Transportation arrangements worked out perfectly and were quite convenient. Thanks again for your efforts on our behalf.

Hi Karen, just now getting back into the swing of things. We had a great time in Cancun, I only made it half way through two different books, but we didn't stop for long at a time. We did the Xel-ha tour and the Jungle tour, made the trip down to mercado 28 one evening, couple of trips to the different flea markets. We also went out to the Island one day and rented a scooter, that was interesting. Then just rode around the Island the rest of the day. Our room at the resort was good, we had a great view. The beach and water down there are beautiful, unlike any I have ever seen. They tried to put us down stairs with a partial view, but I told them that wasn't right and they moved us up, no problem. Thanks again for everything.

Hi Karen! Yes, we made it back safely and had a great time! The room was wonderful, with an ocean view, and a few steps from the pool. We had a great time and I really appreciate all your help in this -- you've been fantastic! The location was great for going out to dinner or dancing later. I LOVED the Coco Bongo show (not sure if you've seen it, but it's really fun). We did the Tulum/Xel-Ha tour one day too (very nice). Thanks again for all your help and a fabulous vacation! Perhaps I'll go again next year. Take care!

Cancun Trip Report

July 17, 2005

Hi Karen, I am slammed today trying to catch up, but will tell you we absolutely loved Cancun and your resort. I will give you more details later this week, but for the most part, it was a very enjoyable and much needed vacation. They put us in Room #1402, approx 3rd floor, end unit on right side with two views facing the Carribean Sea (east and south views). Very nice room, spacious, perfect. Member's bar was great and we certainly got our money's worth there, taking your advice to stock up during the day for evening happy hour in the room. Weather was very good. First day (Sat) was great. Sun afternoon and all day Monday we had periods of strong rain/wind from Tropical Storm Cindy. Used those days to ride city bus, go to Walmart, and shop at mall across the street. Tues-Sat were perfect, mostly sunny with a few intermittent clouds. Nice breeze. Did the Jungle Tour (small motor boats) and trip to Xel-Ha (very nice). Went to La Isla shopping mall one evening after dinner. The beach was so beautiful. We pulled the chairs all the way to the left side, facing the sea, actually in front of the adjacent empty residential building to the north. It was like having our own semi-private beach. I actually read a whole book (first one in 10 years). Sand and water was incredible. Ate 3 meals on the premises. Lunch, from the outdoor beachside cafe, very nice. Breakfast at the buffet, nice, lots of food. Oh yeah, went to the gym twice at Avalon, nice. The people at Avalon were very friendly and accommodating to us. We were very gracious guests, tipping everyone that provided good service (bar keeper, maids, concierge, taxi drivers, shuttle van drivers, etc). Your advice to take $50 one dollar bills came in very handy. It was definitely one of our best vacations ever. Thanks so much for hooking us up with one of your bonus weeks. We thought the location (north end of Hotel Zone, near 2 malls, etc) was ideal. We would definitely go back. Take care, will talk more later.
