We offer two free passes to Schlitterbahn Water Park during the Summer for families with children and a free wine tasting for up to six (6) people at Dry Comal Creek Winery, an award winning winery for all who stay at Strawmanor during November 2009 through March 2010. Moreover, our rates are discounted in the Fall and Spring!
We are made with a recycled resource, straw bales. We donate a portion of profits to the Texas Hill Country Conservancy to protect land and water in Texas.

Area Description
The Hill Country now boasts 24 excellent Texas Wineries!! Strawmanor is a few miles away from Dry Comal Creek Winery, an award winning Texas Winery and the start of wonderful day trip to the remaining Hill Country wineries. Other easy day trips can be made to nearby New Braunfels, Gruene, Austin and San Antonio!
We are steps away from the Lake where great bass fishing abounds in the Fall, Winter and Spring. There is also fun sailing, water skiing and swimming on the Lake. Moreover, the Schlitterbahn Water Park is fifteen minutes away and tubing on the near by Guadalupe River is a popular adventure in the summer.
This region is warm most of the year and enjoys plenty of sunshine. During the Spring months, the Wildflowers of Texas are in bloom and wonderful to see. Bike rides through the hills of the Texas during this time of year are great treat. Moreover, there are Lavender Farms and Olive Oil Orchards to be enjoyed in this region.
If you prefer city life, Austin and San Antonio are 60 minutes away, filled with people, music, museums and other fun things to see and do!

We stayed at Straw Manor for our daughters College Grad Celebration. It was so roomy with adequate space to sleep 8 to 10 couples (16 to 20 people) It has several large bathrooms, showers....The Kitchen was Huge as was the Livingroom. The Sunset View from the deck in the evening was amazing. We would highly recommend Straw manor & Bernadine(owner) very helpful throughout the entire process. Located very Close to Canyon Lake Marine, Gruene, The Horse shoe, New Braunsfel and so much more.
Perfect for family with kids, February 18, 2008

This house was perfect for my children, husband and I. We used it as our home base, and took day trips through Austin, San Antonio and the Hill Country. Plus with the excellent kitchen I was able to cook for them and keep their meals healthy something I would have had a very hard time doing if we stayed at a hotel. Also, they had the opportunity to see deer close up, gaze at the stars and we told ghost stories at night. We had great fun and every amenity we could possibly need. Because of the washer and dryer we were able to pack light and save room for souvenirs. I also enjoyed sending my husband to the water park with the kids while I stayed at home, enjoyed the hot tub and relaxed. This house was beautiful, the furnishings were new, everything was very clean and we were very happy here. We will return again next year. I almost forgot to mention how neat it was to stay at a straw house, my kids and I had the opportunity to contribute to helping the environment and have fun!

My husband and I lead very hectic lives
in a major metropolitan city and welcomed the opportunity to be in a warmer, calmer place during February. The fireplace, hot tub and quiet of this manor were exactly what we needed to have a respite from the stress of our hectic city lives. I was very impressed by the clean, new, spacious and well appointed, rooms in this house. We had every amenity we needed. We were able to unwind, have a glass of wine next to the roaring fire, watch the sunset and check our email when we felt like it. Plus I was able to indulge my gourmet side and cook for us, something I rarely do at home because of my schedule. It was well worth the weekend rental price and a serious bargain compared to city prices. Being able to unwind like this and without the loud noise of the city probably saved my husband and I years of marital counseling. Places like this are hard to find. I highly recommend it and will return again every year.

Our family spent a week at Strawmanor recently. The house has great amenities including the hot tub, massive 2nd floor outdoor balcony overlooking the lake for beautiful sunsets and a kitchen to satisfy all the foodies in our family. Plus the location is ideal with the great combination of privacy and close to an array of outdoors activities on Canyon Lake. We loved it!

This is a great house and we had a great time! We love the amenities this house has although the spiral stairs can be difficult. Granny enjoyed rocking her grandchildren in the rocking chair and we had plenty of room for all 13 of us. We even enjoyed eating all together in the same room. There were plenty of deer coming to drink from the pond and the kids really enjoyed it. A couple of frogs croaked throughout the night but were not bothersome once we were inside. We all had a blast. Everyone liked the house and the fact that we all could room together. Thanks for all your help. We will be back. My family is still talking about the house and how comfortable it was for all us even when we were all in one room. Matter of fact it came up again last night while some of us were visiting mom and dad. You should be proud that you have a place that family can gather and have special times together. We use to always talk about the cruise we took mom and dad on. But now, your place has filled our hearts with memories with them. The view is beautiful from the deck. Everything was incredibly clean and looked very nice. The sound system was great. The kitchen was excellent and we had everything we needed.

As someone with architectural training, I can say it was a great experience. The thick walls give the house a Mediterranean feel (enhanced by the lake water colors, the stone and outdoor spaces). Congrats to everyone involved in designing and building the house.
This was our 50th Anniversary. Our 3 children and their children joined us (15 all together). It was a wonderful experience. Our children and grandchildren planned a second wedding for us with flowers (you gave us) and photos. The grandkids were the flower girl, bridesmaid and groomsman. It was outdoors and under the pagoda with music and pictures taken. My wife said it was better than the original. Needless to say there were lots of tears. We could not have stayed at a better place for all of this to happen. We have been blessed and Strawmanor was a part of it. The grandkids want to know if we can all come back again. They loved the big house, tubing, and outdoor adventures.
Strawmanor had the most beautiful view of Canyon Lake from the balcony. It was relaxing and the house was beyond satisfactory. Bernardine was very helpful in setting up our retreat.

Bernardine, Thank you for allowing us to have our wedding ceremony and reception at Strawmanor. The setting was beautiful with natural outdoor surroundings and then walking indoors to the magnificent great room where our reception was held! We received compliments from all of our guests about everything from the outdoor ceremony in the gazebo to the incredible view from the 2nd floor deck. It was an intimate event of 60 family and close friends and having sleeping accomodations for the entire family was a huge plus! It was a perfect day that we will always remember!
