Description of the Caratunk vacation cabin rental

Remember starry nights and sitting around a campfire toasting hotdogs and marshmallows? This is the perfect spot to enjoy summer in Maine. The comfortable log cabin is nestled among tall pines and birches. The cabin offers nearby access to favorite outdoor activities - boating, swimming, white water rafting, hiking on the Appalachian Trail, fishing,etc. The cabin features a large screened porch to read, sleep, and just plain relax! There are three bedrooms,a bathroom, and a fully equipped kitchen. The foliage is spectacular late September to early October. The road to the cabin is steep, but short. An SUV type vehicle is suggested.

Area Description

Caratunk is a small village,located along the Kennebec River, Wyman Lake, and U.S. 201, approximately 42 miles north of Skowhegan in northern Somerset County. Consisting overwelmingly of rugged forested land, Caratunk's 100 or so residents live in the village (year-round) or at Pleasant Pond(seasonal). Seasonal cottages outnumber year-round residences 2 to 1, and Caratunk has a reputation as a recreational center. The Appalachian Trail crosses the Kennebec and through the northern portion of this 55 square mile town. It is one hour to the Canadian border, and three hours to Quebec City. We are about 3 hours from Portland, Maine and 4.5 hours from Boston.

The cabin is located one hour from the Canadian border at Jackman, Maine. Quebec City is three hours away. The Appalacian Trail crosses in Caratunk. The lake is sparking clean and the fall foliage is magnificant. Nearby Moxie Falls, 90'high,is an easy day hike.

Payment Options: Cashier's Check, Money Order, Personal Check
Check In: 3 p.m.
Check Out: 11 a.m.
Required Stay: week
Lodging Tax: 7%
Deposits: Payment is due at time of booking if less than 60 days before arrival date. Otherwise, 50% of payment is due at time of reservation, and balance due 60 days before arrival date.
Other Fees: Cancellation Policy: If you cancel within 60 days of arrival date, you will forfeit deposit or half of the rental fee.

We recently stayed in this log cabin for four nights. What a beautiful and peaceful place to vacation. The weather was perfect so we didn't spend too much time inside. There was a gorgeous screened in porch that was perfect for family game night. Kids enjoyed jumping off the dock into the lake. We will definitely be back next year. We had the complete joy of staying at the camp in the midst of Maine's spectacular fall colors. It's so peaceful and beautiful it took our breath away. The cabin is cozy, comfortable, and welcoming. We hope to get back some day soon.

I have stayed in this cabin for years and have relished each moment of being there..have been there in all seasons...I LOVE to go down to the river and swim...once we saw an eagle swoop down behind us and caught a fish out of the river, flew away with it in its mouth with river grass hanging off the fish....how exquisite is that..I love the evenings on the screened in porch...the loons serenade beautifully..it feels like stepping back in time going to Caratunk and it gives you permission to truly kick back and replenish your soul..Linda from Farmingdale, Maine

If you are looking for the perfect space to escape to, this is it!! We were able to just stop! The front porch is so relaxing and accommodating. It is a wonderful place to read and listen to the loons near by. Thanks so much for sharing this piece of heaven with us!! We will definitely be back!!!
