Description of the Cardona vacation villa rental

The country house La Torre Blanca is located in Cardona, in the region of Bages in the centre of Catalonia and 1 hour drive from Barcelona. It is located 1,5 km from the town centre. It is well located and at the same time very quiet and with splendid views of the Pyrenees.

With the aim of restoring, but not reforming, we have taken care of all the details to offer the customer authentic rustic charm, and create a unique quiet and homey atmosphere to enjoy the house to the full.

We offer the capability to accommodate up to 14 people. The immaculately kept, private gardens, include a large heated & covered swimming pool. The interior of this traditional farmhouse has been recently renovated and tastefully decorated to an extremely high standard. There is a huge dining room with a 5m long table - which is perfect for join all the people of the party on the meal time! The kitchen is fully equipped including two dishwasher, a microwave, a coffee machine, a kettle, a toaster and a washing machine. On the first floor there is a beautiful living room which has lovely views, an open fire-place, a sat-TV, a DVD player and a HiFi. There is even a computer with high-speed Internet-connection and a play corner for children which has a PS2. There are 6 bedrooms (2 doubles, 2 twins and 2 triples). Each bedroom has its own TV and a luxury, hydromassage bathroom en suite (all bathrooms have hairdryers, 4 have baths and 2 have showers).

The swimming pool is 10 x 5 m and has a child-proof fence. It is heated and in winter can be covered too. There is a hot tub in the swimming pool area. The lovely gardens have wonderful views across the surrounding countryside and the foothills of the Pyrenees. There is a porch: a large covered area outside with a Table, & Bar B Q for enjoying meals outside.

The farmhouse is about 1,5 km from Cardona which is famous for its castle on the top of the hill and its salt mines. In Cardona there are all the useful amenities like supermarkets, shops and restaurants, banks, and a local hostipal too. However, this property is outside of the village, and surrounded by stunning countryside. In the surrounding area there are many interesting things to see and do: for example a visit to a winery to know wine from Pla de Bages or to the Castelltallat Star observatory to know more about stars. The Sanctuary and the Romanesque churches and Castles of Bages. The local countryside also provides a wealth of options for walkers, cyclists, fishermen and even mushroom pickers in autumn. There are also local sites & schools for paragliding and rafting for the more daring holidaymakers, golf courses and horse riding. A trip to Barcelona, is just a 1 hours drive away (90km).

We stayed at La Torre Blanca for 3 weeks, from June 21 - July 31, 2007. We were looking for a big enough place to have lots of friends come and join us. We were, of course, apprehensive about having so many people in one place but it ended up being the most fantastic holiday we could have imagined. The photos on the website look too good to be true, but i have to say they hardly do the place justice. The house is big and beautiful, modern and immaculte. The owners take great care and pride in the place. Each bedroom has its own en suite bathroom, the views are glorious and the real treat is being in a quiet secluded area but 15 minute walking distance from the centre of Cardona. Cardona is dripping in charm, with small shops, bakerys, butchers, cafes, and bars. The local produce, the vegetables and fruits are absolutely divine. The house is FULLY equiped, we only needed to bring ourselves... the cleaning service was brilliant, and our every request was met and exceeded. Highly recomended as a fantastic relaxing holiday and overall cultural experience!

Dear Pilar ,this is just a quick line to say thank you very much - we all enjoyed our stay in your beautiful villa last week and didnÂ´t want to leave. Now we are both back in the USA with lots of work to do. Our garden is a jungle after two and a half weeks of being away - so I will be very busy trying to make it look pretty again. Starting next week we have lots of family visitors coming from the UK.
