Area Information
There is a fun restaurant at the end of Lumberton Avenue (one block) called Tangerine Caribbean Grill good destination for live music and dancing.
On the other side of the marina is another good restaurant called Harbor Master where you can sit outside and enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner or just a cocktail while watching the fishing boats come in and the pelicans diving for thier meals.
There is the beautiful Carolina Beach Lake / Park to jog around or rent a paddle boat. Every Sunday there is a free movie playing at the park and Thursdays the fireworks display on the beach.
Other Area Fun:
N.C. Aquarium, Civil War Fort Fisher, Carolina Beach State Park, Fort Fisher-Southport Ferry, Historic Downtown Wilmington with its River Walk,shopping,and dining,etc. Don't for get the film studio tours - this is where One Tree Hill is filmed and the former home to Dawsons Creek.

So my thoughtful boyfriend decided to surpise me with a weekend get-a-way to Carolina Beach before I am to start my new job this week. Knowing I'm not, nor is he, such a fan of chain hotels, he did some surfing around and found this Magnificent Gem of a cottage. Where do I start? How about with the owner, Diane. She is accommodating, helpful, so nice and cool, and is full of wonderful dining and entertainment suggestions (and accepts pets!) The cottage is exceptionally clean, terrific A/C, beautifully and tastefully updated, sheek, chic, quaint, spacious, stocked, and just overall cozy. Oh, and don't get me started on the bathroom... SO COOL and unique. I have tucked away some ideas for remodel of my own in the future. The property is also beautiful. Additionally, it is only a couple of blocks...ie. 3 minute walk... to the beach, restaurants, everything C. Beach has to offer. Overall, highest stars possible. We will certainly be back and we will be recommending to everyone we know. BTW, did I mention reasonable pricing, too?! :) You will not be disappointed!!!

Unusual, cozy, romantic, clean, close to everything. We mostly come to the hotel.only to sleep, but this lovely place inspired us to.go food shopping, wine.....come back to the.cottage and cook!! Yes.....its so lovely that we enjoyed hunging out indoors as well. The owners really enjoy knowing guests are comfortable and.have.a nice stay. We.felt.the.warmth and this.cottage has been made without missing a detail, yet with lots of love. Most.places its a struggle.to get what you pay for..........in this case we got much more than what we paid for.

I stayed a week with my teenage daughter and her best friend celebrating graduation/birthday. There is plenty to do within walking distance even the Island bakery, where I ordered the celebration cupcakes. We did go to Fort Fisher and the State part which were both a short drive away. I also discovered the man-made lake which is walking distance but I drove so I could take our dog on walks on the walkway around the lake...very relaxing. Thanks Diane for the recommendations... the trip was great!

Great Vacation Cottage

We stayed in this awesome rental with another adult couple and it was perfect! Plenty spacious for us with the queen bed and the pull out couch, especially if you plan on spending most of your time at the beach. Great location--nice quiet side street and walking distance to the beach, even with chairs, umbrellas and toys it was an easy walk. Plus, it was walking distance to several restaurants (great Thai place just down the street) and Britt's Donuts (GO THERE NOW!). We don't have anything negative to say other than the knives in the kitchen weren't too sharp and we wished there were four chairs for the patio table so we could all eat dinner comfortably. The cottage was a wonderful choice for us--Diane was a pleasure and it was a great value for us. We will definitely stay here again if we vacation at Carolina Beach again.

This was a great place to stay! The decor made me feel the beach. All the little neccesities provided made travelling easier. It was an easy walk to the beach, the boardwalk and some great restuarants and bars. The outside sitting area was great for morning coffee and the yard was large enough for my big dog to romp around! I will definately be back!

This was an opportunity for my husband and me to get away on our own...no meetings, no kids, etc. It was a first. Everything was perfect. The Islander was even BETTER than the pictures! My family spent three days and had a total blast. We rented all three of Diane's cottages that are nestled together under some ancient live oak trees. The town was fun, the cottages clean, hip and fantastic, and the beach was within walking distance. Who could ask for more? You should definitely consider this place.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay so very much within these "shabby chic" walls. The unique kitchen area has everything needed for a stay, quaint eating area, like a nook, we felt right at home. Our Sheltie loved the stay as much as we did. The bathroom is so very lovely with its earth tones, tiles, unique sink and shower... The owner has added her special touch to every detail within this cottage. This is our second stay in one of her properties and we will return again to her cottage... I can't wait to return! Not far from the beach are, just far enough to have the quiet and tranquility of a serene neighborhood lined with sidewalks, a church and park nearby... Great fishing and a lovely Beach! Thank you!

My husband and myself just spent three nights in the "Shabby Chic". Diane made us feel so welcome and our aging collie/shepherd and our young pekingese had a fabulous time. It was so clean and crisp and colorful and inviting. We were so close to everything and had a marvelous time. Our daughter, son in law and 11 month old grandson came down for two nights and the first night Diane had nothing available and they stayed in a crusty hotel and paid so much more, the last night they stayed at Diane's home in her apartment basement and had a wonderful time and they swam in her pool, first for the season. We had such a wonderful visit and do plan on coming back again. It was so cool outside under the trees, the house was furnished with anything you could need, besides food!! We had a wonderful time and thank you very much. Maybe next time we will meet Bobby!

My husband, our 3 year old and I, we have no words describe how amazing and magical this house is, the house is beautiful, from the living room to the room, I am in love with the kitchen and the bathroom :). Also the bed is so comfy, I don't really sleep much because I am a military wife and I worry lots. But here we sleep like babies, we feel so save and relax. Also you dont need the car to go anywhere everything is just around the corner . We loved the Islander. We only stayed a few days but it was well worth it to stay at Diane and Bobbie's place. They provided us with great hospitality. The place was clean and in excellent condition. We drove 750 miles or 12 hours to one of the most friendly towns in the U.S. Diane and Bobby were more then helpful and the sweetest people you could rent from. The pictures don't do the place justice. All new appliances with beautiful hardwood floors through out. There are great restaurants very close by that have amazing food. We recommend the harbor masters sushi. You won't be disappointed at this place.

My mother and I had a wonderful stay in this property. Great place, kept in great condition, in a good location and for a great value. Just a short 3-4 blocks from the beach. In a great location, close to many restaurants and shops. If you do bring your dog, you will need to head north of the pier to take your dog to the beach. But there is very convenient parking right at the pier ($1.25/hr or $7.00 for the whole day), so it was perfect. Diane is wonderful and very accommodating for whatever you need. I would definitely recommend this place and hope to visit again.

Aloha was amazing! Everything is brand new in the house and the owner lets you use his fishing poles, chairs, rafts etc. He also writes up everything in an info sheet in case you have any questions. It is in a great location and so close to the beach! We absolutely loved it and would recommend it to anyone!

i stayed in this rental for the week of the 4th of july with my 3 kids,2 pugs and husband. it was a bit small for us-but comfy. it was clean and bright. diane and her husband are warm and welcoming. they have great knowledge of the area. the walk to the beach is a nice quick stroll.we found ourselves there nearly everyday sometimes more then once! evrything is so close by i barely moved my car once we arrived. my entire family enjoyed this spot and we are sure you will to.

We stayed here to celebrate our 36th anniversary because 36 years ago our honeymoon was at Fort Fisher. Of course that house has been torn down and there are lots of changes. Diane and her husband were great hosts. The Islander is beautifully decorated. Bikes were great to ride in the late evenings. The beach was 3 long blocks but good excerise. We enjoyed the Broadwalk and eating at the Harbor Master. Great lunch specials. Hope to go back again and will stay with at one of Diane's places.

My husband and I will never look for another rental property at Carolina Beach as long as this is available! GREAT location-restaurants and boardwalk just a few steps away with a short walk to the beach! Nice neighborhood and I would not be scared to stay by myself here. Bobby and Diane are AWESOME! They go out of their way to make sure you have what you need and they are fun to be around! Our dogs were able to enjoy the trip with us too! We look forward to many return trips!

Cute place that is clean and well maintained. Diane goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and will assist you with any additional needs you might have. The bed and linens were very comfy and the towels were so soft and fluffy I wanted them for my house. The driveway and front of home is nicely shaded providing cool respite from the sun.

This apartment is super cozy and cute! It is in a very convenient location...close to the beach, restaurants and shops, but it also in a quiet neighborhood. The owners of the property, Diane and Bobby, are super nice people and very helpful. This is a very nice place to stay and relax!
