Area Information

Surrounded by restaurants, shops, Lake, boardwalk, and the ocean is steps away.Carolina Beach lies at the northern end Pleasure Island and offers the vacationing family or couples just the right mix of activity and quiet. There's plenty to do with boat rentals and charters, nearby golf, concerts and the annual Festival of Lights with fireworks, a parade, flotilla and home tours. Starting in 2010 there is a weekly farmers/artist market on Saturday's at the lake. There are plenty of unique shops to keep a dedicated shopper smiling. Live Bands , FREE on the boardwalk every week.Make plans to dance off the famous Britt's donuts you eat !! Take a family party cruise nightly from the canal!
Area: For those of you who want to explore the area, we are 5 minutes from the recently remodeled NC Aquarium, Fort Fisher Museum and Civil War site, or you can take the ferry to South port for a day trip to Myrtle Beach, or, for a full day of antiques and ice creams. Also visit the "CHRISTMAS HOUSE" while at South port. You just have to eat at "THE PROVISION COMPANY"---right on the water in South port. Historic Wilmington is within a 15 minute drive and boasts many attractions such as horse-drawn carriage tours, fine dining, golfing, shopping, historic home tours, and the USS North Carolina Battleship.Also enjoy its River Walk,shopping,and dining,etc. Some other attractions include the Children Museum, Cape Fear Museum, The Bellamy Mansion and tours of the Screen Gems Movie Studios (where Matlock, Dawson's Creek and numerous movies have been filmed)restaurants range from pizza to oysters and burgers to the freshest seafood offered in a casual dining atmosphere.
Water sporting activities abound here. Bike, kayak,and paddle boat rentals are available.Go to the PLEASURE ISLANDNC site for events and attractions thru the year.
Don't forget to make time for the Carolina Beach State Park. So much to chose from ! Every Sunday evening there is a free family movie at the Lake across from the ocean. Roomy, comfortable and convenient to beach

We enjoyed our 3 night stay in Carolina Beach, although we wish we'd found the source of the air freshener smell earlier; I'm not a fan of strong vanilla odor. The location was perfect: 2 minutes' walk to a gorgeous beach, 5 - 10 minutes to recreation and restaurants. A great place for a relaxing beach getaway!

Carolina Beach Trip

My family and I usually take a weekly vacation each year, this year we chose week outing to the beach, we wanted a quiet and serene atmoshpere and couldn't have asked for a better setting than what we got. We rented an ocean front condo and the view and setting were oustanding. The condo is located within walking distance of a park, restaurants and the Carolina Beach boardwalk. The Condo was kept up very nice and clean and was overall impressed with the accomadations, overall cudos to the owners and the vacation home rental agency, I will definetly look at staying here again.

This review is not ours. It was mistakenly placed on our rental unit. Our unit sits across the street from the ocean . Our unit is less than two minutes to the beach !! We are within walking distance to the lake and all restaurants. You can watch the fireworks on the beach at the boardwalk from our front porch !!! You can also walk to the lake to watch a free movie every Sunday evening at dusk !!
