Peaceful, secluded, total relaxation

We enjoyed the cabin and all it's beauty. The views were amazing. Wish we could have enjoyed the outdoors more, but due to several wasps and yellow jackets nest surrounding the cabin we could not spend to much time outside. Also one child was stung five times in one incident. The yellow jackets found their way into a crease in the kitchen window and into the cabin, where we then had to try to kill them. Also the cleanliness of the cabin could use some improvement. The carpets and floors needed to be cleaned. The sheets and covers had dog hair and needed to be cleaned prior to use. And last but not least, when we were leaving most of our guest complained of very itchy welts on their bodies. Which lead us believe that the cabin may have a bed bug infestation.

My family and I went to Bear Lodge this year for our family vacation. I wanted my children to experience life away from the city. I must say we got what we bargain for. After the initial shock wore off we did have a fantastic time. Originally, we thought we would never go outside because of the wild life we might encounter, but we did. Also, we visited several theme parks, malls and movie theaters. We wish we could have stayed longer. We are making plans for next year to extend our vacation from seven days to 10-14 days. We felt we didn't have enough time to see and experience everything. The only thing we would tell the owner to do is to let vacationers know about the rugged terrain. The road is Terrible. They need to know so that they can rent the right vehicle to go up there. My sister's car took a beating and on our last day her car broke down. We had to get it towed out. She ended up leaving her car behind and we had to double up with our other two vehicles and drive back to Florida. Now she have to pay for her car to get fixed and see how she is going to get it back down here to Florida. I feel bad for my sister. We were not fully prepared. We wish we could redo this trip again!

My two girlfriends and I and all 6 of our kids went to Bear Lodge for 6 days over the Christmas Holiday. We were amazed at the size and beauty of the place as soon as we arrived. The couple who let us in could not have been sweeter. They put up Christmas decorations for us, tree and all. There was so much to do there, all of us stayed busy doing the things we love. It was plenty big enough for the 9 of us. The only thing we kept saying is that the pictures on the web site did not do it justice! It is more beautiful, bigger, brighter, and even more breathtaking in person. We enjoyed every moment and the people who rented it to us, spent time answering our questions and making us feel comfortable, she said it was going to be a great trip...and it was!

We spent Labor Day weekend as a family retreat at Bear Lodge Falls. It is beautiful! The house is very nice and has everything you could possibly need. The property manager (Phillip, Sherry and Danielle) were great! They met us there and showed us everything and explained how everything worked. We had a great time and the family loved it. I loved having NO cell phone service. This gave us a weekend away from all the technology we are so accustomed to. The house was very clean and we found most everything to our liking. The only complaints that I have are there was no popcorn for the machine, the tv downstairs did not work, the internet did not work, and the phone only made local calls, not long distance that we were told. None of those things mattered to me as I wanted to get away from it, but some family there wanted to use the internet and tv. They are also very pet friendly, and our dogs loved it there! Overall, I give the house a 10, but the amenities should be removed from description if they do not work. Thanks Renae, Sherry, Phillip and Danielle for a great weekend!!!

This house is advertised as 6 bedrooms...think again! 1 bedroom on main floor,2 on upper floor, and down stairs there is the open room with TV, couch, futon, and bunk beds...this is not in my view a bedroom. The 5/6 bedroom is one big room with two beds and a dividing door. There are not separate entrances, so I believe it is pushing it to say 6 bedrooms. The BEDS!! They need to be REPLACED! The only two comfortable beds where the master and the 6th (part of 5th) so-called bedroom. I personally have a bad back and I was in extreme pain every day, having to take muscle relaxers. The entire house complained of their back from the beds, with the exception of the two mentioned. The A/C... needs recharged or replaced. The house stayed hot, especially up stairs. To be so hot you hardly can keep a sheet on you is unacceptable. The kitchen is listed as GOURMET... but not stocked well for cooking or cleaned well at all! The only gourmet about the kitchen is the stove.. clean it and replace filters.. it dripped grease! Last but not least... the road... be clear..this is a mountain road! It DOES take 20 minutes to travel and you can plan for 1 1/2 hr to get to anything fun for the kids. This is a gravel winding, up and down road. The home is beautiful and the creek is neat...but very disappointed in the comfort and cleanliness of the home. It could have been so much better if only the above things were corrected/fixed. Hot Tub was great and the family played lots of pool!

We stayed at this property last weekend and upon arrival were informed of a problem with the water main. Things happen, so we weren't upset that there was an issue, just that it was not brought to our attention BEFORE we arrived. So, we went an entire 24 hours without water. It was freezing outside, we couldn't cook or shower and we were in a house with 3 babies and 4 adults. Every phone call on Friday was just another push back in the time of repair. First, was 2pm, then 4pm, then someone had to pick up their child, then another delay for a "trip to the parts store", then 15 minutes away and FINALLY a guy shows up. Upon review of our contract, we noticed a clause about NO REFUNDS for repairs, but what about PRE-EXISTING conditions??? We were only offered the following resolutions. 1. Check out late - No benefit to us. 2. Stay another day - We are all professonals and had work on Monday. 3. 15% off the NEXT visit, nice, but we don't want to stay there again, especially considering that these resolutions didn't benefit us at all. So, we didn't get any refund, had a day of no use in the house, were not warned of a known issue prior to arrival, so we could reschedule, and it ruined our weekend. The stars at night are pretty though.

Our group of girls stayed for a long weekend and it was perfect. The kitchen is so well equipped and the rental manager gave us a detailed tour of the home upon arrival. We were given maps for hiking along the creek and directions for local activities to partake in. I loved the 2.5 mile hike to Fort Mountain State Park right from the home. Every morning we walked the trails along the waterfalls and sat on deck with coffee enjoying the views. At night we grilled out and used the outdoor heater provided or had gatherings in the fire pit by the waterfalls. Great hot tub and Billards Room! Road to home was a breeze.

Beautiful place with enough space that you are not on top of one another. Staff person on sight was a genuine delight. Only negative that I would say is that the county or owners need to have the road into the cabins paved. It had rained the day before and the road was being graded. It took me four tries to get to the top of a small hill, slung mud for a mile. Excepting above; great place and reasonably priced. Intending to stay there again if Renae will give me "frequent flier discount." Family loved the place!!!!!!

We just got back from Bear Lodge Falls...Awesome! We had so much fun and so relaxing! The hikes through the woods...the beautiful waterfalls were great fun to play in and soothing to listen to.The recreation room was fun too!We definitely look forward to going back to Bear Lodge Falls. The 3.1 mile ride to the cabin on the gravel road took us about 27 minutes each time (in our large van) but was exciting for the kids and very beautiful. We did not see any bears but we did see a tree where a bear had just been and had ripped off the bark from scratching.Lots of cool hiking trails from easy to rugged. The cabin is beautiful.Mornings were great drinking coffee deck looking out at the beautiful woods and waterfalls. Can't wait to go back!!!!
