Description of the Carters Lake vacation cottage rental

This is a rustic cabin nestled on a bluff near Carters Lake. The cabin is QUAINT cottage style built with cedar planking. There are two decks for viewing wildlife on the forest bluff. A nearby waterfall and stream can be heard while you watch the sunrise from a private deck. Winter time is a quiet time on the bluff and snuggling in front of the fireplace is a must after hiking the Woodring Branch trails. The kitchen is a galley with a two stool snackbar. The bedroom is cozy with a Northern Nights down comforter (winter).The "honeymoon" bed has an American Indian medicine blessing honoring those who traveled the "Trail of Tears" just minutes away from the cottage. The bathroom has a shower/tub with water massage shower head, small sink and toilet. It is not handicap accessible. Dish satelite TV/DVD player, some games and books are provided for indoor entertainment. Internet is available thru guest's personal data plans only. Relax on the private deck and enjoy the forest wildlife. An outdoor fire pit and charcoal grill is available for guest use, although due to fire insurance regulations, no grills are permitted on the decks.
Spa service is available by a licensed professional by appointment reservation only.

The property has gardens, a picnic area, a dog pen and parking for your boat. The main log house offers a private Guest+Rest, two-room suite for short visits. Laundry service is available for a small fee.

Area Information

The cottage is located in Carters Lake Recreational Area with hiking, biking, hunting and fishing within a short radius. Hunting and stream fishing are just below the property. Boating and picnic areas at the lake are down the road within three miles. Carters Lake has the largest dam east of the Mississippi with an interpretive Center, many trails and wildlife viewing areas. The cottage is centrally located to the Historical Trail of Tears, Chief Vann House, Cohutta Wilderness, antique shops of Ellijay & Blue Ridge, Cohutta Springs Winery, Tour de Georgia (bicycling), Mountain Biking, DirtTrak Races, three golf courses, NB Family Amusement Center (championship miniature golf and indoor batting cages), Deep Southern Championship Wrestling, National Horse Show and Saddle Clubs, Applefest, Marblefest, Bluegrass Festivn als and more. All within close proximity of Atlanta and Chattanooga (1 1/2 hour). The area is wonderful for the sportsman, outdoor enthusiast, Civil War and American Indian history buff, treasure hunters and even "shoppers" with unique boutiques nearby.

The cottage is located on the property of a "Guest-Bed-Rest " for those short escapes to the North Georgia mountains. New Beginnings Family Center (minigolf, indoor batting, gameroom facility) , river rafting are in Ellijay. The cabin is located centrally between Ellijay & Chatsworth, both with various type of resturaunts and chain fast food eateries. The Cohutta Wilderness hiking area, Amicolola Falls State Park and Fort Mountain is 25 miles. The town of Ringold offers Lake Winnie, an amusement park and entertainment faciltiy approximately 45 miles from the cabin.

Peaceful and quiet!

This cabin was perfect for the getaway from it all weekend we wanted. We ate all of our meals on the back deck that faces the forest leading to Carter Lake. Our pet dog Sassafras was welcome and loved the back deck as well. We would definitely go back.

Peaceful Retreat

We had the best time. It was such a serene environment. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city noise, traffic, crowds, pollution and confusion. We relaxed and convened with nature and each other. We got to swim in the lake and the river, something I have not done since I was four. the cottage was so cozy and efficient. It made us stop and and thank God for how lucky we are in America. I thorougly enjoyed the weekend spent there and have already referred 4 people. Looking forward for my next trip up there.
