There are dozens of things to do at Casa Loma. You can swim at the five-mile beach below the villa or at one of the many others nearby, visit quaint old towns, markets or shop in modern European department stores. Golfing is nearby and the restaurants are excellent and numerous. The seafood is fresh, the wines superb and the prices reasonable.
The Costa Tropical de Granada (Tropical Coast) is a temperate tropical area with 326 days of sun annually (typically, more than the Costa del Sol). The summers are dry and there is always a breeze at the villa. In the winter, one can spend the morning skiing in the Sierras and come home to sunbathe on the terrace after lunch.

It offers a sea-side resort combined with day trips to exotic and fun-filled locales such as: the Alhambra palace in Granada, the caves in Nerja, the water park in Almunecar and the many mountain villages. The road from Motril to Malaga passes through the former heart of the empire of sugar barons who brought prosperity to Malaga province in the 19th century. Today, the traditional cane fields are giving way to lychees, limes, mangoes, paw-paws and olive groves. Dark green avocado groves line your route on the descent into Almunecar, a fishing village since Phoenician times, 3000 years ago. The Phoenicians called it Sexi; the Moors built a castle here, where the kings of Granada once kept their treasures; and today it's a popular resort.

"Oh, I wish it was this time last week because this is our third visit to Casa Loma and it was like coming home. We will be back next year. We have such happy memories of our time here."

"We booked an apartment elsewhere, but it was too small. We had the opportunity to move here and fell in love with your villa immediately. It is easy to see that this is a home, not just a holiday retreat."

"This is our fifth visit! It really feels like coming home. So many changes, but Casa Loma still stands in splendid isolation. We drove to the lake south west of Granada. A lovely drive and a beautiful spot. Road much better than indicated and an ideal picnic spot. The house is so comfortable. All our needs are cared for. Thanks again."

"We came in January and went skiing one day and sat in the sun on your terrace the same day! How can you bear to leave this place?"

"What a villa! What a view! You weren't kidding when you said it was breathtaking. The food, golf, beaches and sightseeing made for very busy days. It was a treat to come "home" to Casa Loma each day."

"Our trip was everything and more than we had hoped for. In a word it was fabulous. The Villa was perfect - what a beautiful setting. It was a real blessing to be able to get up to that glorious view every morning. Talk about soul restoring! The people were charming and gracious and very patient with our sign language. We spent our whole two weeks laughing (if laughter makes you younger then I should be about five years old by now!)"

"Dear Dr. & Mrs. Towler. As I write this on the final day of our visit, I can say that I have only one regret. We have to leave tomorrow Morning. Casa Loma has been a wonderful place to call home during an incredible vacation. The food and wine has been superb, the scenery breathtaking and the visits to the Alhambra, the cathedrals in Malaga and Granada, the caves at Nerja and of course Salobrena have made this a time I will always remember. If I had to choose just one thing I enjoyed the most, it would definitely be the people of Spain. Warm, friendly and quite forgiving of someone who speaks almost no Spanish. They have truly been a delight. I am able to see why you enjoy this country so much and I am so grateful to both of you for allowing me this opportunity. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and with every fiber of my being. I will definitely return to vacation here again."

"What a wonderful place! Having booked on the interenet, we were slightly nervous about what we would find, but the villa exceeded all our expectations. Fabulous views, beautifully furnished and exceptionally well equipped. We also watched every episode of Fawlty Towers on your CDs. Our favourite restaurant by far was El Penion, the restaurant on the jutting out rock. Wonderful seafood, friendly service and the best views and reasonable prices. The highlight for the children was the water park in Almunecar, for the adults it was probably a drive through the Alpujara. Thank you John & Lorna for the use of your lovely second home. We very much hope to return and would recommend Casa Loma to anybody."
