Cayo or San Ignacio is 70 miles west of Belize City. It consists of high hills and lush country vistas. San Ignacio like the rest of the country is a mixture of different cultures, languages, traditions, and life-styles . All of which are fascinating and interesting. It is a small town and sometimes a little sleepy especially on Wednesday, but come Saturday, the town is alive with farmers who bring their fresh produce to the market. The market is a social event in this small town. Families walk around choosing the best vegetables or fruits at the best price, while others would sit at a food-stall and have breakfast of salbutes, pupusa, tamales, or tacos. Friends are met that haven’t been seen all week, so you’ll hear the loud chatter and laughter of a friendly people.

Cayo is also home to several Mayan Sites (Caracol being the most famous), ATM cave, Rio Frio Cave, Rio On Pools, Big Rock Falls and so much more. There are natural attractions as well as man-made. Both of which will take your breath away. There are some tours that can be combined while others have to be done on their own due to traveling time, and length of the park itself. There are tours for the laid-back traveler and there are those for the more rugged and anyone else in between.
