Description of the Cayo vacation cottage rental
This is a long term rental. 6 months and more preferred.

Immerse yourself in the real Belize. Live where Belizean live.

This almost new hardwood house is 360 square feet with a 100 square foot porch all under one roof. It has one bedroom and a combined living room and kitchen area. The house is placed on the property to maximize the breeze. Large ceiling fans and lots of windows keep the air moving.

You will find a the kitchen equipped with a range, full size fridge, pots and pans, dishes, flatware, casserole pans, even kitchen towels.

The living room has a couch and an oversized chair plus a book shelf. Between the living room area and the kitchen is a hardwood dining table with four chairs.

The bedroom has a queen size bed with a comfy mattress, pillows, blankets, and again a ceiling fan to move the air between the two windows in the room. There is a wardrobe to hang and store your belongings.

The bathroom has a shower stall and of course the whole house has hot water. Should the water pressure be low, and it happens on top of a hill, you have a back-up water tank and a pump to supply you until the pressure returns. Early mornings the pressure is very good, it recedes when people get ready for work and school and returns mid-morning. Your back-up tank it big enough to see you through several days of no water at all, a situation that has never happened

Outside the backdoor is a laundry area with an US style washer. The dryer is solar. In other words – you hang the wash on a line.

What you will NOT have is TV, unless you purchase your own satellite dish and service.

We have EXCELLENT internet reception with a SMART Dongle or MiFi.
Area Information
The house is located on a dirt road only a few blocks from the paved main road. Like most Belizean roads it could do with more maintenance. But it is passable in all weather.

Santa Elena is in the Cayo district. It is the twin city of San Ignacio, Belize’s second biggest city. Cayo has attracted many Expats because of its beauty and climate: Tropical, yet with cool nights, breezes, fewer insect due to the elevation and out of the coastal hurricane zone.

More about the owner
  • About:

    I am your neighbor.
I am not prone to loud music or late nights but the dogs and I get up with the chickens. Overall I would rate us as pretty quiet neighbors without obnoxious habits.
The same can be said about all the other neighbors in “close” proximity....
