Description of the Central City vacation cottage rental

VICTORIAN RETREAT (30 min from Denver downtown) is perfect place to vacation in Colorado or for two-three days get-away. It is located in the heart of local attractions. There are small mountain towns around rich in mining and railroad history with antique shops, historic sites, museums, beautiful trails, scenic drives... Gamble and dine in over 30 casinos in Blackhawk and Central City. Visit the historic Central City Opera House, Hidee Old Mine and the Teller House in Central City. Historic Idaho Springs with its famous hot mineral springs pool and geothermal baths in only 8 miles away. Enjoy white water rafting on Clear Creek.

The cottage has two private bedrooms, a dining room, living room and a kitchen. Old wood burning stove, antique furniture and decor will take you back to the beginning of last century. The cottage (it was built in or before 1864) is a historic property. You can find old photos dated 1864 in Denver Public Library where our house is depicted. The cottage offers a great mountain/hill view and a great location. Enjoy crisp mountain air, beautiful views or a glass of wine on the patio and numerous local attractions.

The rate is $155/nt + $75 cleaning fee for one couple, $165/nt +$100 for two couples/4 guests. There is $250 fully refundable security/reservation deposit required to reserve the property.

Area Information

Plenty SEE and DO in CENTRAL CITY and surrounding area. Visitors can experience a true taste of Colorado and the Rocky Mountains, while soaking up the rich history of these historic mining districts.

ELDORA MOUNTAIN RESORT SKI AREA Perfect for downhill and cross-country skiers, snowboarders and snowshoers.

EXPLODING MINE SHAFT Harvey's Casino on Gregory Street in Central City has a special attraction, along with their great entertainment and sports viewing, an exploding mine shaft by the downstairs bar. Sit and sip a drink and don't be startled when the mine shaft explodes just feet away from your bar stool.

Georgetown Loop NARROW GAUGE RAILROAD West of Idaho Springs on I-70, you'll find historic Georgetown (close to Loveland Ski Area). Restoration in this old town has been successful from gaming funds from Black Hawk and Central City, an originally-planned rail destination. Today's steam-powered narrow gauge train traverses its way over the restored Devil's Gate High Bridge, looming 95 feet above Clear Creek. There's shopping and dining in Georgetown, Idaho Springs, Silver Plume - wonderful historic towns.

Take "OH, MY GOD!" road (Virginia Canyon Road) from Central City down to historic Idaho Springs - the most scenic drive of the area. You may enjoy hot mineral springs pool and geothermal mineral baths at Indian Springs Pool in Idaho Springs.

Central City are located in the Rocky Mountains, about 35 miles west of Denver at an elevation of approximately 8500 feet.

There are many summer and winter sport and outdoor activities to be enjoyed in and around. These include: cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snow-shoeing, sledding, fishing, kayaking, hunting, camping, backpacking, four-wheeling, photography and, of course, gold panning. Numerous wildlife abounds throughout the area.
Central City, "THE RICHEST SQUARE MILE ON EARTH", have endured many boom and bust periods, including the current phase of limited stakes gaming begun in 1991. Come and enjoy their current boom!!!

I can't rave enough about the helpfulness of the manager, Julia. She is friendly, professional and very accommodating. The cottage is high on a hill overlooking the historic Central City and it brings you back in time to when things were so much simpler. The cottage is immaculate and well equipped. The beds were very comfortable and the living area much nicer than any hotel around. I wish we could have stayed longer. The photos were accurate and the cottage was very inviting and well maintained. I would recommend this for one or two couples.

Recommended for:Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Julia, we loved your 2 places, one so different from the other and both a home away from home. Wonderful time. Thanks again for allowing us to stay. The Central City home was very special and I would travel across the country again just to use that bathtub. We had a good time, and thank your husband for the travel advice. We enjoyed the Opera House in Central City - full of history!

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage so much! What a sweet, cozy, well appointed little place. The kitchen had anything we could possibly need in the way of small appliances, which was fun. The view from the porch was lovely. We enjoyed breakfast on the pretty patio set in the morning and in the evening it was neat to watch the thunderstorms out over the mountains. Everything looked new and clean. All your little gift baskets and breakfast foods were very much appreciated by us all. If we come out again, we will hope the place is available.
