Description of the Chama vacation home rental

High on a cliff overlooking 1000's of acres of pinon and pine forest and the amethyst Brazos Cliffs, 30 minutes south is where Georgia O'Keeffe lived and painted. There is a wraparound deck to take in the spectacular views. Heron Lake is an oasis for swimming, fishing, and boating;No wake lake so no loud ski boats or jet skis. Perfect for writing, painting,hanging out, cocktails on the deck, swimming or boating in the lake (bring your own boat), or simply sightseeing and hiking in the nearby mountains. It's sunny year-round; not too hot in summer, cool breezes and hummingbirds abound in the evenings. The elevation is 6,700.
There is also a new grocery store in Chama.

Area Description

Located just northwest of Tierra Amarilla and the weaving village of Los Ojos. Many nearby activities including, wildlife and bird watching, mountain biking, running, walking, fishing (Trout and Kokanee Salmon), sailing. Heron is a no wake lake so there are no water skiers or noisy jet skis. Short day trips could be Georgia O'Keefes Abiqui and Ghost Ranch, Echo Natural Amphitheatre, Ojo Caliente Hot Springs, Santa Fe to the South. Taos to the west. Chama is 20 minutes away and is home to the Toltec and Cumbres Scenic Railroad. Get a sense of what travel used to be like. There are also hiking trails over near the dam.

Quiet and Scenic, May 18, 2009

The cabin was beautifully decorated, and had many amenities that were beyond expectation. The kitchen was well equipped, there is a washer and dryer, comfortable bedding, etc. The view was fantastic, and the cabin is on a large piece of land out of sight of any other cabin, giving the feeling of a true getaway. The owner of the property is courteous and helpful as well. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay on vacation!
