Weekend getaway

First the pictures do not do this cabin justice. It is very well maintained and decorated and furnished nicely. Bea the owner is very nice and helpful. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the peace and quiet. Absolutely would go back and stay again. Also eggs, bagels and cream cheese were provided...This was really nice! :) There is a four seat covered glider out back spent a lot of time sitting outside enjoying the weather. The yard is done up so nice, very inviting. I can't say enough nice things about this property. A must see!! :)

Need to get away weekend

Our weekend at Deer Ridge Cabin was very enjoyable. Bea was a pleasure to deal with and even got the fire started for us prior to our arrival. The cabin was clean and just as it appeared in the pictures and was decorated nicely for Christmas. Very quiet and serene, a nice break from our busy busy work schedules. The craftsmanship of the cabin is over the top, I don't think anyone would be disappointed in their stay there. One disappointment was that there is no cable/satellite, which normally would be no issue but the SEC Championship game was on and we are die hard fans and had to go elsewhere to watch the game elsewhere, would have been great to enjoy fame in front of fireplace.

BEA DZAGAN

Owner's reply:

Thank you Bonnie and Larry for being our guests and for the great review! I am sorry that you had to go elsewhere to watch the game.....our listing does state that there is no cable/satellite in the cabin...only a TV with VCR and a DVD player. Our cabin is definitely an "unplugged from the world getaway". We have asked several of our guests if they wished for the cable/satellite and they have responded with a definite "No". Thus, Deer Ridge Cabin continues to stay "totally unplugged from the world". Again, thanks for being our guests! Bea

Beautiful cabin!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The cabin is clean, beautiful, and well-stocked with everything you'd need. Bea (the owner) is so friendly and accommodating! I'd recommend this cabin to anyone who wants a relaxing weekend away.

Cute and Cozy!

We recently spent a weekend at Deer Ridge ~ the picture only offers a hint of what makes this charming cabin so spectacular! Start with the secluded wooded setting -- far enough away from "civilization" that you begin to relax and unwind the minute you set foot on the property, yet close to all the Charlottesville tourist sites -- we visited Michie Tavern, Monticello, UVA and downtown Charlottesville while we were there. When not on the go we really enjoyed just relaxing in the gazebo with our morning coffee, or reading and soaking up some sun on one of the porches. And the cabin itself couldn't be any nicer -- beautifully built, beautifully decorated, and beautifully maintained it truly took our breath away when we walked through the door. It was well equipped with everything we needed to make our stay an enjoyable one -- and if we had needed anything I have no doubt our charming hosts would have come to the rescue!

Wonderful Experience

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cozy, quaint cabin. The owners have done an outstanding job with the construction and furnishing of this authentic log cabin. It is so peaceful being situated in the woods away from everything. The cabin is well furnished and breakfast foods were provided. We enjoyed having a fire in the rock fireplace. The cabin is conveniently located to Monticello, Jefferson Vineyards, and other attractions. It was much, much nicer staying in this cozy cabin rather than an impersonal hotel in Charlottesville. I highly recommend this rental property!

Quiet Woodsy Cabin

We stayed at this cabin for my husband's birthday. The owner knew about his "big day" and was sweet enough to leave balloon's for him. The cabin is very cozy and private. We didn't take advantage of the wooded area around the place but did venture into Charlottesville which is about 15 minutes away. I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking to decompress for awhile. One note: use your time to catch up on reading, as they don't have cable, etc.

Charming cabin

We spent two nights totally relaxing in this very comfortable cabin. It had everything we needed for a two day getaway and perfectly located to see Monticello, vinyards, antigue shops and great restaurants. Private, well stocked, warm and very well built. Highly recommended and we've stayed in a lot of Virginia cabins. Mike and Susan...

perfect getaway

Our stay at this lovely cabin was perfect. The pictures do not do this beautiful cabin justice. It is literally like being in a model home for Country Living. Tranquility and comfort abound. The decor and the amenities make this oasis perfect. The fireplace is fantastic although the heating system makes the cabin cozy as well. Strong recommendation!

Bea and Rick,
I can't imagine a more perfect place to be at Thanksgiving! Your cabin is beautiful and oh, so cozy! We hung out, watched a movie, played Monoploy, read and read in front of the fireplace. We enjoyed working on crafts of various sorts. Slept like babies in the comfortable beds, cooked, ate, talked and enjoyed every minute. It was the weekend I hoped it would be for my children and me. Many thanks!

Rick and Bea, When we first walked in, we felt sorry---for all the people staying in hotels in Charlottesville. As we leave we feel sad--that we didn't think to arrange a second week. In between, we were all smiles. The kids enjoyed exploring the woods, meeting friendly inch worms and playing on the porch. What a lovely place and so convenient to town and all the points of interest! Hope to return again soon.

Rick and Bea,
We have really enjoyed the log cabin. We appreciate the construction of it and how well it is decorated. My husband always tries to find an unique place and he did a nice job this time! Loved listening to the whipperwills tonight.
Went to the houses of Jefferson, Madison and Monroe. Enjoyed all of them. Drove the Skyline Drive and hiked some on the Applachian Trail that runs along it. I liked it more than the Blue Ridge Parkway. We visited the D-Day Memorial in Bedford and it was absolutely worth the trip.
Thanks,

Dear Rick and Bea,
What a cozy haven you've created with your little cabin in the woods. We enjoyed a beautiful weekend of coffee on the porch, conversation in the chairs by the grill, some hotly contested Yahtzee games and the area's sights of interest.
We're already contemplating our return visit. Thanks so much for your warm hospitality.

Bea and Rick,
What a perfect place!! A log cabin nestled in the hills of Virginia. Restful, Relaxing and Charming in it's Details and Decor. You have created a very, very special place.
Our occassion to visit the area was a tour of the grand homes of our country's founding fathers. Our discovery was that your little cabin will be remebered as fondly as Ashlawn and Monticello and Montpelier.
Many Thanks.

Thank you both, Bea and Rick, for allowing us to share in this beautiful cabin. The care and craftsmanship that went into it's creation is evident everywhere you look. Like many of those whose comments that were left earlier on these pages, the cabin is ever so much more than we were expecting.
The peace and serenity of this setting is a breath of fresh air in our rush-rush world. We will most certainly recommend your cabin and most of all, hope to make a return visit ourselves! We would love to be here when we could have a toasty fire burning in the fireplace!! You have done a fine job of making this a little "home away from home".

Bea and Rick, Thanks for sharing your beautiful cabin with us! We enjoyed our stay imensely. Great location for visiting the sites during the day and returning to relax, unwind and count the fireflies on the porch at night. The kids enjoyed having their own space in the loft and the "big kids" enjoyed the nice comfy bed to sleep in. Dear Bea and Rick, We had a wonderful weekend in your lovely cozy cabin! We kept commenting to each otherwhat a great find this place was and we will be back for another visit. The cabin is beautifully constructed and filled with warm touches in the decor. So comfortable and welcoming! We throughly enjoyed the serene quiet, relaxing on the porches and in the rocking chairs (the glider house) by the grill. And it was very nice to wake up with fresh eggs and coffee each morning, then come home after a full day to make dinner and read/watch movies/play Scrabble/unwind. Thank You for a great time!

Bea and Rick, It took us about 5-no, maybe 2 minutes-to forget about the sounds of the highway and the city when we arrived at your beautiful cabin. What a lovely, idyllic spot you've chosen for your Deer Ridge Cabin. We actually changed our spreak break plans and decided to stay on an extra day, we were having so much fun! How nice for all of us to be "unplugged" from all the distractions of our every day life. In addition to seeing the sights of Monticello, Michie Tavern, UVA and Charlottesville, we enjoyed some quiet time here. Mornings on the porch, playing the guitar, tossing the ball around, reading--all of it made for a great vacation. Plus, your attention to every detail and comfort of home, made us feel like your special guests. Thank you for sharing this place with all of us. It's obvious that everyone who comes here is touched by your hospitality. Thank You!

Thank you Bea & Rich, a perfect delight! A perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the day to day life. A wam and cozy place to relax a few days before Christmas, with the comforts of rustic surrounds and a perfectly placed fireplace with plenty of ready firewood. The antique shops are less than 20 mins away and wee easy to get to and a treat to browse! Found a pocket watch for $10.00 that is perfect! I just got a giggle from the previous page (of our guest book at the cabin) because I set up and worked the "Dave Matthews" show that was his last tour date of run and a packed show because he is cutting a new album and on a break for the next 2 years. John Paul Jones Arena is a wonderful place not far from hear to see good Music, Theater and Sporting events! Thanks for everything! Your hospitality is priceless! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

Dear Bea and Rick, Coming over from Germany for my sister's 10th wedding anniversary, just for the weekend we very much enjoyed staying in your lovely cabin, which was built and decorated with so much love and care. Dear Bea, We loved your gorgeous cabin, especially the Southern Living magazines! We had the best weather to read, take naps and drink tea (plenty of it). So some advice for the Aussie's who are coming soon. You'll need to get a kettle and some simple "black tea". Most Australians like Twinnings and I am traveling with a Twinnings variety box of 20, which has English, irish Breakfast, Lady Grey and Earl Grey...only costs $2.15 from Kroger's! Now to get back to reading another Country Living magazine while my 13 month old naps! Ahh...the serenity!

P.S. Saw my 1st boxed turtle..Very ugly!

Dear Bea and Rick, Billy and I want to say Thank You so much for sharing your wonderful cabin with us. It was a God send for us this weekend by allowing us to stay close to our daughter and new granddaughter at UVA Hospital. One pound, two ounce baby Kinley has a rough road ahead, but through faith and prayer we know she will grow to a great woman someday. All are hoping she wll be home for Christmas. Whenever we can, during our many trips to come, we would love to stay at the cabin.
Thanks very much for the anniversary card and wine. Very thoughtful.
We have a favor to ask. We left the empty wine bottle on the cabinet in the livingroom and started it off with some dimes. We are hoping future guests will read this and continue to fill the bottle. Each time it gets filled, would you please empty the bottle and donate the dimes to the Ronald McDonld House for us? Without them, Kinley would not be able to have her Mom beside her each day. We are hoping that the bottle is filled many times in the years to come. Thanks very much!

The cabin is great! The extras and appliances were like being home. Loved the walk through the woods-woodpeckers everywhere, a few rabbits and just a quick glimpse of the deer. Dear Bea and Rick: We had a wonderful time staying at your quaint little cabin in the woods while visiting our son at UVA. Even though it was much too hot for a fire in the lovely stone fireplace, we found the quilts and other country decor provided a delightfully cozy ambiance. Everything that we needed was provided and we appreciated the "extras" in the fridge and cupboards. So glad we brought along our bikes to enjoy the trails! Our 15 year old daughter enjoyed her time here so much she said "Let's spend very vacation here!" Thanks for the great week!

The grill was handy for our dinners and the kids loved riding their bikes on your logging road. Thank you for helping to make our vacation a memorable one.

We arrived from West Chester, PA to visit UVA once again with our 16 year old son. Your beautiful log cabin made our visit perfect. Your cabin is very comfortable and the craftsmanships is outstanding! The extras were great: coffee, eggs and muffins helped make our mornings on the porch very relaxing. We enjoyed walks throught the wooods. We have stayed in a few log cabins and we will definitely add this one to our list of places to visit again. Thank you for your hospitality an for sharing your cabin with us.
