Lovely views!
November 6, 2012
We were in Charlottesville for a wedding. Instead of staying in a hotel we rented this cottage that allowed us to bring our dogs. It was absolutely lovely! Only thing people need to know is the cottage is physically attached to a retreat center so if there is an event going on during your stay you will hear people coming and going. I wouldn't let that stop you from staying. In the summer there is a pool to enjoy and there is also an outdoor firepit. The views are amazing.

Wonderful Place
March 6, 2012
We couldn't have been happier with the cottage. It is comfortable and spacious on the inside, but the real appeal is the scenery outside. It is located on acres of beautiful land, and we enjoyed going on long walks with our dog. And it's just an easy 20-minute drive from Charlottesville.

A perfect getaway!
November 8, 2011
We had wonderful stay at this property, It is ideally located and nicely done; The surroundings are scenic, and there is a nice trail around the lake which pleasantly surprised us! On the downside, the couch was somewhat uncomfortable and the TV hardly offered anything worth watching. I would give it a 8/10 and will be more than happy to return.

Wonderful escape!
September 20, 2011
My husband and I, along with our energetic labrador, enjoyed a 2 night stay at the cottage and absolutely loved it. The scenery is spectacular and the endless field and pond were peaceful and just what the Dr. ordered. As expected, we didn't spend much time at the cottage, and found the accomodations to be exactly as described. Yes, the decor is out-dated, so if you are planning to stay in the rooms most of the time during your visit..look someplace else. Otherwise, the cottage is a gem and we will return! PS: Our dog Tripp is begging to return. I'm positive it's a close second to doggy heaven :)

peaceful and relaxing
September 13, 2011
My husband and I were looking for a cabin in the mountains for our 10 yr anniversity. This cabin was great. Everything was a little outdated, but for the price it was well worth it. Cabin sits on 80 acres, and is pet friendly, my dogs loved it, and so did we . I would recommend this quiet getaway for a couple or a family.

Great cottage and location!
September 7, 2011
We enjoyed our stay and hope to return in the spring/summer. The cottage was clean and has everything you need. The couch should be replaced, as it is falling apart and very uncomfortable. The views and property are beautiful. We enjoyed the private pool and hiking trails.

Most Excellent!
September 1, 2011
Beautiful and tranquil setting...pets welcome, too! We'll be back as often as schedule permits. Far enough to be secluded yet close enough to conveniences...the perfect get-away spot! On a scale of 1 - 10, a 12!

great second stay
April 21, 2011
We stayed at the cottage for the second time and loved it as much as the first visit. The scenery is beautiful and the cottage is lovely. The owners have thought of all of the extras to include, linens, kitchen accessories, etc. Very clean and well maintained. We look forward to another stay in the future.

Nice cottage set in a peaceful location. Panoramic view of the Blue Ridge with an easy drive into Charlottesville. Plenty of privacy without being too remote.

Fantastic!
March 20, 2011
We rented the cottage for a girls' weekend -- just needed to get away from it all. The cottage is delightful and the view is just fantastic. It was so peaceful we didn't want to leave! Can't wait to go back again!

Great experience - serene property
March 16, 2011
We visited for a four-day weekend and brought our dog along. He was in heaven, getting to run around the property and swim in the pond. The grounds were sprawling, and we felt like we had a pretty good amount of privacy. The space itself was very clean, the TV worked, the kitchen was fully stocked with silverware/plates/glasses/cookware, and the bed was comfortable. It wasn't glamorous (and the couch was pretty uncomfortable), but it suited our needs perfectly. We drove to Charlottesville each day for dinner or other activities. Truthfully, if spending time in Charlottesville (e.g., UVA campus) is the main intention of your visit, you might consider staying somewhere closer. It was about a 30-minute drive from the cottage to the heart of Charlottesville. That said, we enjoyed having all the space for our dog to run around and not worry about him. It was worth the hour-long round trip to/from C'Ville each night for dinner. It's pretty close to wineries and a neat park with short/easy hiking trails and an amazing dog park. We'd recommend this cottage, especially if you're a dog owner.

We loved the cottage. Everything we needed was there, except a toaster. We enjoyed our few days there very much. The scenery was beautiful. Peaceful and relaxing.

The cabin was in a beautiful location-- close to C'ville, but it felt isolated. It was a great stay, and the cabin was perfect for our needs except in one respect. The cabin advertises Sattelite TV, which it does have. In effect, however, you only get basic cable since the sattelite is not authorized for any extra channels. It was only an issue for us because we wanted to watch a particular college football game, but that was our only disappointment. In general, I completely recommend.

I can not tell anyone how beautiful and peaceful it was there. Our puppies enjoyed the freedom. Everything was perfect. Returning next year.

Great Place!
September 12, 2010
This is a very nice cottage on a beautiful property and we enjoyed our stay very much. Everything was stellar, except the checkout. Folks rushed us out in order to clean, well before the agreed upon check-out time because someone else had booked the cottage right after us. A phone call would have been nice instead of a few people just showing up at the door and rushing us out. Other than that, it was clean, lovely and loads of fun - we will definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to others.

Private and Peaceful
August 18, 2010
Five of us stayed here for a long weekend and hosted a family reunion for 25 people. The place far exceeded our expectations. The property is so beautiful, quiet, and private. The children loved the outdoor space to run and play, we all enjoyed the pool and the fellows fished in the pond. We sat on the deck and watched the beauty of the mountains while chatting after a wonderful meal in the multipurpose room at the retreat. A perfect weekend. We will definitely come again. What a wonderful place to de-stress!! Thank you for sharing your treasure with us.

serenity
August 8, 2010
This little place has a lot to offer. If you are looking for a quaint cottage with easy access to everything look no further. The privacy of the pool was wonderful for my girls the fishing at the pond was great and the relaxing evenings watching the sunset and fixing smores at the fire pit was true serenity. Thanks for a great getaway look forward to future visits.

The view out the window was beautiful with the lake and trees turning colors. The fields and hiking trails were great for our golden retriever to run and he was in doggie heaven. The cottage was clean and enjoyable. The overall experience was very pleaseant and we have already recommended it to others.

Don't overlook this little gem
August 5, 2009
We stayed at this cottage for 8 nights this summer. We chose it because it was centrally located close to Shenandoah National Park and Charlottesville. We only looked at cottages that allowed pets as we have an older dog on arthritis meds and she can't stay at a concrete floored kennel. The house is nice. There is a huge kitchen, good sized living room area, three small bedrooms, full bath with laundry. The view from the living room looks over the large pond and into the mountain ranges. The property is absolutely beautiful. The cottage is connected by a large entry-way to a two story retreat. Even when there are people at the retreat, it is totally quiet in the cottage. This is not the Hilton, it is furnished with older furniture and linoleum floors in the main areas. However, it is very clean, comfortable, spacious, quiet, and the property is beautiful. We also had use of the good sized swimming pool. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.
