Description of the Chimney Rock vacation cottage rental
Leave the stress, sounds, and smells of the city life behind. Come visit our quaint cottage and just feel the tension melting away... Enjoy a soak in the hot tub; this will certainly be an introduction into "kick back" mountain living. Chimney Rock is a friendly, welcoming community offering sensory experiences and memories to our tourists. Hear the tranquil sounds of the stream from our cottage across the road.

Shops and Chimney Rock Park are within walking distance. You can view the " Chimney Rock" which is lighted at night from our deck. Enjoy the fresh clean mountain air, but please bring a jacket for those cool mountain evenings. Homemade goods and foods are abundant all around, as well as yard sales, thrift shops. There are excellent restaurants all around the cottage site.

See where "Dirty Dancing" and "Last of the Mohicans" were filmed. Dogwood trees and other flowering shrubs are beautiful and fragrant in the springtime. Lake Lure (1 Mile away )offers all the water sports and rentals; golfing is also nearby. Put your fishing line in, baited with 1 piece of corn and see what happens! Right down the hill from the cottage, is a picnic area right on the river.

Dine at the Esmeralda Inn where Clark Gable and Carol Lombarde hung out between movie shoots. Ben Hur was also written in the Esmerala Inn. Enjoy a luxurious day at the Lake Lure Inn SPA (1 mile away ). Wineries in the area, one off of Hwy74 and Hwy 9, other at the Biltmore Estates, are only 20-30 minutes from the cottage.
Area Information
There is a local rock climbing wall which is man-made nearby in the area inside Chimney Rock Park. Tennis courts and basketball courts are down the street at the City area office grounds and picnic area. Narrated Boat Tours of Beautiful Lake Lure leave from this area. Lake Lure also has a BEACH / Water Park with tube slide and Lifeguards. Just a few other attractions like Gem Mining, FISHING are right across the main street .The Broad River is stocked with three types of trout and locals use whole kernel corn to catch them ( brown, brook & rainbow). Located next to the Basketball Court is the local Playground. Miniature Golf is less than 1/4 mile away and a winery is only 25 minutes away. Less than one mile from cottage is water skiing, lake lure beach, kayaking, live entertainment, and a full service SPA. Located within Chimney Rock Park is a professional rock climbing wall with safety equipment (mandatory).
Remember to watch out for the deer. Almost all visitors to our cottage tell us or leave a note in our journal that they most enjoyed watching the deer outside from either our deck or master bedroom.

Perfect Getaway

My boyfriend and I went up to Kyle of Loch Lure this past weekend. It was such a perfect place to relax and get away from it all. We only stayed two nights but I wish we could've stayed longer! Chimney Rock is a great little town just down the road, and the view from the top of Chimney Rock State Park is amazing (and exhausting!), especially with the leaves beginning to change. We used the charcoal grill and hot tub both nights, which was so lovely. It is also a good location to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Asheville, we drove a bit of it and ate lunch in downtown one day. Would absolutely recommend staying here if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing weekend with plenty of options in the area. Thanks Ann, hope to be back some day!

Cozy/Romantic Getaway

This was more like a small home then a cottage. Great location tucked away off the street. The hot tub was perfect for after a long day of riding. Our hostess was very accommodating. Lake Lure is a pretty cool little town nestled in the mountains of No.Carolina. We are looking forward to next years vacation in the area.

Owner's reply:

What a lovely couple. So easy to work with and did not hesitate to ask questions or receive recommendations on attractions/things to do. Extremely honest. A glass was broken and she told me about it. Will look forward to having them next year.

Cabin Anniversary

The photos do not do this cabin justice and the owner was more hospitable than any I have ever had the pleasure to work with, We enjoied the short time we had there for our anniversary and plan to go again and again. The place was quiet and so felt relaxed we never left the cabin the entire time we had there.

H. Brodski reported back to me that he and his small family really enjoyed staying at Kyle of Loch Lure. They loved the Hot Tub at night after hiking. They were a very lovely family and so easy to work with and very active. He wrote me a long email and addressed, bike riding on the mountain trails, climbing Chimney Rock, visiting the Biltmore Mansion in Asheville, NC, going to the C. Sandburg home in Hendersonville and white water rafting. Also they went zip lining, which is a new outdoor activity built this year on a farm within a mile of my cottage, maybe a mile and one-half.

N. Beaudry and husband stayed at our cottage for a few days over the Labor Day weekend as a Special Retreat for just them prior to the birth of their first grandchild. Had a great time she told me. Also gave me a tip that it was time to replace the outdoor grill and when I went up a few days after she left, I certainly agreed with her and there is a new one on the side deck. Thank you for your comments and heads up.

My mother and I stayed at the Kyle of Loch Lure in Oct 2011 for her Birthday this year and we really enjoyed staying there. The cottage is quaint, yet modern enough to have all conveniences. The views from this cottage are exceptional. In addition to viewing Chimney Rock from the deck you can see the Broad River across the street and actually hear the water noises. Recommend this cottage highly.

My fiance and I booked this cottage in September and came from Texas. Friends joined us there and we had a wonderful stay in the cottage. The kitchen had everything we needed as we prepared most of our meals; grilled out on deck most nights. Owners kept an extra LP tank for us and sure glad they thought of that. The central air worked great. We noticed that because the last place we rented, the unit just barely put out. Views are lovely and beds are very comfortable. Wild life come in yard especially if you get up early. Recommend highly.

My boyfriend and I rented this cottage early in September 2011 and really had a nice time. We are from Raleigh, NC and just wanted to "get a way". Restaurants were great in the area. Went swimming in Lake Lure which was really clean and took a ride on the sightseeing tour boat. We highly recommend the cottage. Owners are very nice and left us a gift inside!

My husband and I saw this cottage on web and it jumped out at us. We had been talking about getting away somewhere different and we chose this one. Very peaceful and we even had a deer almost come on the deck one early morning. We enjoyed watching the animal, so pretty. Views are great and good accommodations. Recommend.

My husband and I came from the Bahamas where we live for a rest and just to come to the NC Mountains. We climbed Chimney Rock and had a ball. The cottage was lovely. It was nice having 2 full bathrooms, bed were comfy. We will be back.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What make my vacation rental special?
A: The cottage is quaint, vintage mountain cottage with conveniences like new dishwasher, surface Jenn-Air range and wall oven and broiler, butcher block counter tops, original windows, original (1940's ) sink in Master Bath and a vintage, "larger than normal soaker tub" in the master bath. Window is a vintage slide to slide handmade window as they used to make years ago. The newer addition in 1997 still has the vintage charm of old "Heart of Pine" hardwood floors, which match the rest of the home. They are beautiful. Home has a galley kitchen, two bedrooms and two fulls baths. The rear, or older part of the cottage is the second bath which has been updated with a corner glass shower and new lavatory with cabinet below. Original window in that rear bath still remains, with plenty of storage/shelves behind the bathroom door. Windows have been replaced in rear bedroom and are vertical slide. All windows have country drapes. The LOCATION is just great. Up are up in the woods, have some neighbors, but are high enough to see and hear the Broad River across the street. When the leaves are falling and off, Chimney Rock is right there off the deck to view. Bald Mountain is to the rear in the winter. Everyone enjoys the Hot Tub which is computerized and just a few steps out the side door to get in. There is a two sided privacy wall for the Hot Tub at night. You can walk to town if you like. When our niece was 4-8 year of age, we used to walk her to town the back way through the mountain road for an ice cream and then walk back on the main drag, to go back to the cottage. Put on your hiking shoes as roads are not flat. Right down the main road , either left or right, are shops, restaurants and all kinds of things to do. Go GEM MINING, or get a massage, or climb Chimney Rock, or ride the elevator to the top, shop til you drop or whatever you desire. Just doing nothing is wonderful! Take a narrated tour of Lake Lure Homes on the Tour Boat. Sooooooo much fun.
Q: What is the coolest nearby NEW activity?
A: Well, the new ZIP LINES of course. They are suited for all ages, different types for different ages. Located on a Farm very near Lake Lure, and right down the street, around the Lake from the Cottage. Check it out.
Q: What are the most fun things to do at our cottage?
A: Well it depends on your likes, but for us it is: Zip Lining, Boat Tours, renting a canoe or paddle boat, enjoying the Beach at Lake Lure with the Water Park. Having beach chairs with umbrellas at the cottage for others to use is appreciated by all. We like to fish in the Broad River and catch trout, clean, cook and eat them! Gem Mining is another one of our favorite activities. I have found a BIG Gems which I had made in to a 10 K pendant and earrings to match. Horseback riding is nearby and Chimney Rock Park has a climbing wall with safety ropes.
Q: What are the most common comments you receive from guests?
A: Thanks for offering such a place, that is quaint, modestly priced, and a symbol of mountain life other than a log home. Comments often include cleanliness, great watching the deer and the location was fantastic. The hot tub gets great reviews from being a new model and clean. Views they say are spectacular, especially in the fall, winter and spring when you can stand on deck and Chimney Rock is right there! Also we get comments on so many things to do for all ages.
Q: So many places we have stayed at do not have any parking or the parking was in a dangerous curve; what is your parking situation?
A: We carved out a two car parking area in the front yard, had a rock and block wall built and filled in with gravel. It is so nice to have parking areas. They are rare in the mountains.
