A Wonderful Home and Wonderful Vacation

We just returned from this beautiful home. It was a family vacation for my husband and I and our two teen-aged children. The youngest one will be off to college in a few days and we wanted a week together as the 'last family hurrah'. We could not have choosen a better place to stay. The home is modern, beautiful, immaculate and spacious. The owners are absolutely wonderful - extremely easy to work with and extremely accomodating! Our vacation was everything I hoped our family vacation would be. I would HIGHLY recommend this home to any family (or friends) looking for a beautiful home, complete with state of the art audio and visual media, right on the waterfront. I do hope we will be able to return next year! Thank you so much!!!

September in Captains Cove

My Family and I chose to take the entire month and enjoy the peace and incredible weather of the end of the Summer Season. It was a wonderful and memorable time. There was not a single day that we did not have a great time in the Cove. . From watching our nieces and nephews enjoy the crabbing, to the beach and the pool. We all shared fun family times together that you just do not get to do everyday. We also got to watch two incredible NASA launches right from the deck of the house, a truly once in a lifetime experience. . Our family shared gourmet dinners that we were able to cook in the spacious well equipped kitchen and there was plenty of room for all of us to stay comfortably. When we didn't feel like cooking the Marina club was always available for Grown up dinners and family events alike. . But I think for me one of my favorite things was scootering to golf each day at 3pm and cutting 10 strokes off my game on the world class course in the cove. . Thank you so much for sharing your home with us we will be back next year. .

Owner's reply:

Thank you for the kind note. I get a lot of satisfaction seeing family's enjoy my home and how great the cove and the eastern shore is to vacation and relax.
You and your family are welcome back.

Krock Family Vacation

September 18, 2013

We were pleased to be able to rent this lovely home for a week in August. We had severla children with us, ranging in age from 3-16. The house was clean, bright, airy, and very relaxing. The kitchen had plenty of room for cooking for large groups. The entire house was opena nd spacious, which lent itself to the children having a blast! The rooms were well kept and comfortable. There was planty of bathrooms for everyone. The deck overlooking the canal was a favorite place to spend both mornings and evenings, and was the preferred area for breakfast. We could crab, kayak, and even swim right off the dock, which we did nearly everyday. the kids LOVED it. The cove iteself offers many amenities, to which we took full advantage. There are 2 outdoor pools and one indoor pool, a library, a park, and plenty of roads to ride bikes, all with great views. While in the area, we also took advantage of the beach (about 30 mins away), the NASA Wallops Island Visitor Center, the Discovery Center in Pokomoke, the nature/bike trails in Assteague, and a sunset boat cruise (compelte with a school of friendly dolphins, ponies, and a variety of bird species). Our crew is very active, and the location of this home lends itself to a lot of different activities. If you want more action, you can easily go to OC, MD. We like the quiet relaxation of Chincoteague and the surrounding area. The owner was very accomodating and helpful. We only wish we had a nother week to spend! There's so much more to do! We had one of our best vacations ever in this comfortable home in an ideal location. We are considering returning next year, perhaps for longer. We did not want to come home! This area has something for everyone, and this home is ideally situated. My kids are still raving about it!

Owner's reply:

I really appreciate the kind note. Please let me know if you ever want to go back down Im very happy you and your family were able to enjoy our home and Captains Cove.

Whipple Family Vacation

July 28, 2013

This was was the first time we ever vacationed at Captain's Cove. The area was lovely, sunsets were awesome, the house was large enough for our family and full of amenities. Our young grandchildren were thrilled crabbing off the dock actually catching some crabs. We loved the house it was clean, kitchen was well equipped and overall we had a lovely vacation. We hope to return in 2014.

Owner's reply:

Thank you so much for the kind words. You are always welcome at our home. Mr. Whipple was very easy to deal with and made sure his rent was at my home in advance of the due date. Im glad that you had the oppurtunity to find Capatains Cove.
I think its the greatest resort community on the Eastern Shore for a family vacation.
Thats why I have been vacationing there for the past 10 plus years.

Our March pre-season monthly rental

April 7, 2013

This vacation home is a 5 star for location in Captain's Cove with a great view of the water and Chincoteague Bay from many rooms in the home. Bring your bird book to identify the many species of water birds seen from the deck right outside the home. We even saw bald eagles swoop down for fish! The home has a very nice layout with large kitchen and great room area and many basic amenities are included. Because we were the first rental after winterization, there were a few repairs needed which the owner will address for the summer season. The community has many amenities with a modern clubhouse with indoor pool, fitness, internet, meeting rooms, and nice restaurant/bar overlooking the bay. There are two nice outdoor pools and the golf course is well kept and challenging. The marina has a great ramp for launching a boat or jet skis that you bring and weekly/monthly slips are available as well. A perfect spot for a family vacation. The drive to the ocean is approx. 30 minutes and the nature centers/trails in the National Seashore park are worth visiting. The town of Chincoteague offers good restaurants, quaint shops, and local activities, including the famous pony swim and auction. The local area offers rich history and the nearby towns of Snow Hill, Pocomoke, and Berlin are worth visiting. We would recommend this home which is stocked with lots of games for kids, state of the art electronics, and comfortable furnishings. Something to note, since guests bring their own linens, the home has a king bed in the MBR, a queen guest room, a two single bedroom, and a duo bunk room with a double up top and a single on the bottom. We enjoyed our time here visiting family and our new grandson and plan to be back in the future!

Owner's reply:

Thank you for the kind words. Please let me know if you need a place to stay anytime your in the area, you are always welcome if my home is available.

What a lovely home and even lovlier views from the spacious living area. We enjoyed our meals looking out over the water and spent evenings enjoying the sun sets. Fishing was easy as our boat was docked right outside the home.

We had a lovely time at this beautiful house. Great views, AWESOME owner that was incredibly easy to work with, and huge bedrooms. My husband said it was the best house he's ever stayed at in the cove as far as docking the boat, and getting out in the bay, and fishing. Can't wait to go back next year!

House in Greenbackville

August 7, 2011

The house was large, open, spacious and the kitchen well equipped. Six of our group of 21 stayed in the house and hosted the rest of us for two large dinner parties. The deck overlooking the salt flats (and a gorgeous heron) were splendid, the gas grill much used. The trip to and from Chincoteague was longer than we might have liked, but do-able.

It was our first time staying at the house, we have stayed at hotels in Chincoteague several times before and wanted a new twist. We ran into an issue with using the facilities-technology issues- upon our arrival, but it was immediately taken care of. We did have some issues learning how to operate the TV and all the other components that were attached. Once we got the hang of it we were on our way, but had very few channels to watch due to signal issues. Didn't mind it at made more time for family and game time! We weren't going to let that bring us down on our first day of vacation. The atmoshpere of being right on the water was very relaxing for everyone, especially waking up with the sun reflection. Being right on the water allowed us to crab and fish whenever we wanted too. The drive to the beach, even though it was only about 30 minutes; was our only downfall. This was a first time experience for us, we usually are staying in the Outer Banks/Ocean City where it is only a short walk to the beach. However, we did enjoy the ride each day, always something new to look at. We did have a very relaxing weekend just hanging out with family and enjoying the views and each other's company. We would do it all again.

What a joy.

August 19, 2010

My family and I truly enjoyed our time at Captain's Cove. The house we stayed in was well maintained and comfortable. The setting was beautiful. Even in August, the weather was lovely. The Yacht Club staff was helpful and considerate. The outdoor pool and amenities were clean and beautiful. The indoor pool was a good size for swimming, the fitness room had ample equipment, and the Internet room was quite helpful. Locally, we enjoyed a number of fine restaurants, a 2 hour cruise around the islands (accompanied by dolphins), shopping in downtown Chincoteague, the beach at Assateague, mini-golf and much more. It made for a truly memorable vacation.

I can't say enough about this home, the view, the location and most of all the exceptional customer service demonstrated by the home owner. We had a small issue (our fault) with the TV - He drove 4 hours to come and fix it and then proceeded to take my family for a wonderful boat ride. Unbelievable experience. This is our second stay. My husband now desparatly wants to purchase a home just like this one. I would highly recommend the area to everyone!!

Great place to begin exploring Virgina's "outer banks". Chincoteque and Assateque close by for day trips of biking, hiking and beaching. Ocean city also close for boardwalk fun. The house was a great place to stay and relax with fishing, boating and golfing on site.

A Great Place

June 27, 2009

If your looking for a great place to spend time with your family without all the crowds this is what your looking for. It has everything that you will need and the homes layout is perfect for a family get away. If you want a day or night of glitter Ocean City is just a short drive north. The club house and pool are an extra bonus and the food at the club house is worth it too. The owner is a pleasure to deal with. We'll be back!

seclusion and safety

June 17, 2009

After years of Ocean City crowds (even in Ocean Pines) we've discovered that Captain's Cove is the ideal launching point for an Eastern Shore vacay. This place just feels like home, in a real neighborhood, where no matter which way you walk, you hit open water, without the smell of traffic and creosote -- or the sounds of screaming throngs. The Cove is quiet, with gorgeous, private waterfront areas where you'll see only dog-walkers and sailboat-launchers. There are acres of woodlands and countless sunset and sunrise views with zero "cigar" boats or rowdies. This particular house is perfect for families or intimate groups -- sleeps eight -- with a kitchen made for Shore life. (Has mallets, stemware, and eating spaces indoors and out.) There are even crab pots ("traps") that you can tie off and toss into the water for fresh catch at your fingertips. Barely an hour from OC, just a few minutes from Chincoteague, with a dozen more attractions in between, we've found our home away from home.

The Great Escape!

July 8, 2008

My family and I just returned from one of the best family get-aways we've ever had. This house, and Captain's Cove, are the perfect place to escape the hustle of everyday life. Beautiful views, easy access to the bays from the private dock, championship quality golf, and tons of wildlife are ready to take your mind off all things stressfull. And, then there's the house itself: open and clean with a spectacular view over the water, and one of the coolest AV systems we've ever seen! This house is not to be overlooked. We can't wait to get back.
