Area Description

Ticadel is located on El Camino Viejo, a historic Spanish Colonial road, on the side of a mountain. The property overlooks the entire Central San Jose Valley. The vista includes rain forest, the city lights of San Jose as well as volcanoes on the horizon.

The town is lovely and quiet...very tropical, with incredible Sunday farmers market &...but has all the urban amenities one might need. In addition to fine dining in the immediate area, Ciudad Colon is also home to the United Nations University for Peace, which adds to this community an international flavor...It's an incredible mix of culture.

Fifteen minutes from Ciudad Colon, is Escazu, very upscale westernized urban area. Fifteen additional minutes more(in the same direction), brings you into the City of San Jose (Proper), which is essentially the NYC of Central America (large metropolitan city... great restaurants, nightlife & national theater). Buses (running hourly)& Taxis from the front gate at the Ticadel suites are very convenient & the drive on the mountainside (valley views) is incredible.

(I know this all sounds like marketer b.s...but honestly it's not... In fact I'm not even an owner or manager at Ticadel...I'm a former tenant (a U.Peace Student)...that lived at the suites for a year... I have no self interest in this promotion...It was simply an incredible place to live... I'd love to share the secret of this spot. Please check out the site I've posted. Relocation & travel is never easy...Hopefully I can reciprocate a bit of the kindness I've found from others in my travels so far...)

My husband I were looking for a Costa Rican getaway but didn't want to do the super-touristy thing that some of our friends had done. We were looking for the "real" Tico experience, but also also wanted some of the comfort of a tropical vacation. We found out about this place from a former guest (& friend)...It was perfect !!! The town wasn't touristy...quaint, tropical & charming... & San Jose was 20-something minutes away...Our suite was a tropical canopy-level paradise...the views - spectacular. The manager even set us up with everything we needed to feel a part of the town AND get experience day trips to rain forest waterfalls & the beach (with a personal driver)!!! Two-thumbs up... we'd recommend it to our friends as well.

This is a new posting so, not sure who would know to sign yet...But I think as previously mentioned. I'm a former guest (not management). I was a U.Peace Student & had such an amazing experience at this property that I wanted to place this advertisement in addition to the online site I've posted.
