Better than home...

1st day - I was afraid to touch anything because everything was decorated so perfectly and was so clean. 2nd day - we were talking about how easy it would be to permanently live in this cottage. Rooms are much larger than you'd expect. Owners provided everything you'd need, including a washer/dryer. This was our 1st VRBO and Derek made it easy by clearly explaining the process and being readily available by phone or email. The location was close to Clearwater beach, St. Pete's, Tampa, and Tarpon Springs. We enjoyed being in a real neighborhood, walking the historic areas, being able to walk downtown and to the dock overlooking the bay. A grocery store was 1 block away and we walk there every day for a newspaper. The only negative that I have is that the purple cottage has set a pretty high standard for renting a place in the future.

What a treat to leave the snow and ice of Missouri behind for a weekend away in this adorable cottage! From the charming decor to the beautiful trees shading the yard, this place is just what we needed to relax and unwind during the busy holiday season. We spend one afternoon across the bridge in Clearwater, lounging on the beach, walking Pier 60 and shopping. We also made a trip to Raymond James Stadium to watch the Buccaneers take on our San Francisco 49ers. It was such an easy drive and our team won! We did some shopping at the Bay Street mall afterward --- great stores and a cute outdoor area with lots of good restaurants. We had breakfast at Wildflower Cafe ---Twice! We might have gotten out and done more had the beds at the cottage not been so comfy and inviting. We fell in love with the town and the sweet purple house and can’t wait to return. We so appreciate the Patterson’s friendship, generosity and hospitality. Ryan, Hayley and Macauley Fraser

My husband and his siblings stayed here in for a long weekend and were very happy with our experience. The cottage is charming and roomy! It provides all the amenities and comforts of home. We loved the outdoor space and décor. The kitchen is fully functional and easy to navigate and the Jack and Jill bath is VERY convenient for a multi-guest stay. On my evening run I was truly astounded at the beautiful surrounding neighborhood. There is also a stunning park with a pier just a short walk from the cottage that provides an unobstructed view of the sunset. Simply beautiful. We had an excellent time. Thanks for making all of these efforts for your guests to feel comfortable and relaxed!

The neighbors met us before we had gone inside. They were so friendly telling us history of the spanish mossed two hundred plus year old trees. As we entered the house I was excited to see a truly not a detail missed of this home. The beds were so comfortable that neither of us wanted to get out of bed. We walked all over amazed by the historic trees and quietness of the area. The beach was wonderful. We had thought it was too cool but after renting an umbrella to block the breeze the sun put us both to sleep. Not one rude person on the whole visit. Home shopping outlet was great, the city market for produce, a quaint breakfast, bike rentals, the beach, beautiful weather, the list was endless how pleased we were. We will definitely rent this place again NEXT time for as long as we can!!! Thank you for sharing your little piece of paradise!!! Ps. Whoever decorated with all the details get a A++ in comfort!!

The Purple Cottage in Paradise
July 28, 2013
The purple cottage was like no other place we have ever vacationed. It's unique, cozy and relaxing. The master bedroom was like sleeping "on a cloud". There is a second bedroom across the hall with a flat screen TV. There were 2 bathrooms (so we did not have to share). We woke some mornings and drank fresh brewed coffee from the kitchen in the lanai filled with colorful and comfortable outdoor furniture. A cool breeze overhead from the ceiling fan was the finishing touch. Other mornings, we drove 4 blocks to Starbucks and enjoyed coffee at the Pier. We were able to make a great breakfast every morning because the kitchen has every accessories you need, all you need is the food to prepare. Then off to the beach, only 3 minutes away where we found 3 fantastic, fun places to hangout. The first was Shephards Beach. We enjoyed listening to a great band, eating fantastic food and drinking tropical drinks. The best part was that we were only steps away from the beach. The second place we enjoyed was Palm Pavilion Inn. They had phenomenal service, the best “fish tacos” we’ve ever had, great tropical drinks, live music and a great view of the entire beach. Our third place we spent time was at Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill. This unique beach bar had the hottest and most unusual Jalapeño poppers (you have to try them). This was our favorite place for Pina Coladas. The Palm Pavilion and Frenchy’s are within 100yards of each other and share a long, white sandy beach. After a fun day at the beach or enjoying one of our favorite hangouts, we loved coming back to the purple cottage, relaxing on the couch and watching cable TV including Netflix. Wireless internet was a nice touch. On days when we didn’t eat dinner out, we grilled in the fenced in backyard. It was wonderful! There were chairs, a patio table and a big umbrella. It was the best Florida vacation we have ever taken. When we come back again, the only place we would ever consider staying is at the purple cottage.

What a great time! The Cottage is close to the Long Center Pool (which we came to for our swim meet) as well as the beach. We immediately felt "at home" in the Cottage and loved being able to rest and eat here rather than always going out. We did enjoy Cristinos our first night in town - yummy! The pizza was fabulous! We also enjoyed Frenchys on Clearwater Beach - fun atmosphere for the whole family with wonderful live entertainment (Reggae the night we were there)! It was great having a fully functional kitchen with all the supplies (especially the blender- we made lots of smoothies). Overall, the Cottage was absolutely wonderful and exceeded all we were expecting. Each day we took time to enjoy the screened porch as well as the back patio and found the area to be so serene and peaceful, we will definitely be back!
What a great place to spend time with family! Thanks you so much for allowing us to stay at your home and help us build lasting memories with our kids. We spent most of our time at the beach. We drove to Tradewinds in St.Pete Beach so the kids could play on the water slide in the ocean and on land. Little pricey, but the kids had fun. We will be back!
What a great week! We loved the Cottage. Now that we've figured everything out and where the good beaches are, we wish we had another week. This was the first time we've traveled and not stayed in a resort. We definitely preferred staying at the Cottage; it felt like home. We had pizza twice at Cristinos and would recommend it to future renters. I enjoyed getting up early in the morning and having coffee on the porch and watching the lizards! Your Cottage is charming and very comfortable. Thanks for the great vacation!
This little lavender cottage home was one of the best choices we've made in a long time. Every detail has been addressed. The bed was like "the cloud" available at upscale hotels. We were tired every night from the days fun so getting into such a comfy bed was sooo great. We rented bikes by the beach and road thru the historic neighborhoods. The market is set up on central street on Wednesdays from 10-2. We ate breakfast at a local diner. People were friendly The screened porch was so relaxing in the morning and evening. Thank you for sharing your home!!!
Unbelievable experience - first time to this part of Florida, didn't know where to stay, and gave this cottage a try. Everything thing we had hoped for, and more - very clean, quiet neighborhood, Bed was soooooo comfortable that we didn't want to get out! Kitchen equipped with everything you need. Walked to the beach every morning, found a nice little breakfast place couple blocks away, as well as nice places for lunch/dinner within walking distance. Although there was no real reason to leave in our car because everything was there, we drove to clearwater beach and watched the sun set (about 10 minutes away). So very impressed with this place - thank you very much for the great hospitality. We WILL be back - already planning May or June get away. Thank you very much!
I recently spent the week at the cottage and was very impressed. The house is wonderfully decorated with all of the creature comforts of home. The beds were very comfortable which provided me with some of the best sleep I have had in months. Details such as soft bath towels and sheets made my stay all the more enjoyable. The area is quiet and beautiful with many places to see and eat with a walking distance. Just a few minutes away from Clearwater beach, made it very nice to go from a long day at the beach right to the cottage in no time. I found the owners Jennifer and Derek to be very easy to work with during the booking process as well as through out the stay when I had questions. I have recommended this cottage to many of my friends and have already made plans for another visit in May.
We stayed in early March 2013 and the cottage was immaculately cared for ... hard to believe it's 100 years old! Lots of history in this harbor view neighborhood just steps from downtown Clearwater / Cleveland Street. We just loved walking one block to the beautifully maintained and clean pier right on the ICW/ Clearwater Bay overlooking SandKey Bridge and the Gulf of Mexico. Great spot to bring the provided beach chairs and sit and drink coffee and read the paper every morning and evening. We also especially liked the locality to access Clearwater Beach in literally 5 minutes. Just down Oak Ave and take a left and your across the causeway bridge on the beach in minutes! We just love the location and all it's fine amenities... the beds and linens are so comfy! You guys thought of every little detail. We are coming back this Summer ! Thanks again for sharing your home. Robert Robles, "Cold" Michigan
The Cottage at Clearwater was the perfect get-a-way for our family. Weather was perfect, people were perfect and the "little purple house" was perfect! Couldn't have dreamed of a better place to stay and feel right at home. A few places we liked include: Clearwater Beach, John's Pass, Crabby Bills, The Clearwater Marine Aquarium etc.... I could go on for days! Whoever is next will definitely enjoy their stay! Relax and kick back because this is the perfect spot to do it. The neighborhood makes for great walks, looks and experiences! Thanks to Jennifer and Derek for the wonderful home. We will be back! --Gault Family
