The cottage I stay in was very cozy & cute. As for the town itself there wasn't much to do. There was one shop in town the resturants & bars closed very early. The beach water was nice & warm however when you got out of the water you were covered in a brown sludge. Also the resturants were expensive and not very good food at all. I was looking for something a little bit more exciting. It sounded like it was like Fredricksburg, VA but it was nothing at all like that. The weather was beautiful but I would not stay in this place again.

I was quite disappointed with our stay. The cottage itself was very well maintained and comfortable. Although the list of amenities was incomplete or should I say in need of updating. There is no "sofa-bed or high speed internet." The beaches are within 1 mile yes, if you in fact enjoy swimming in water that covers your body in brown sludge. A local bartender said "you shouldn't swim in that water." Oh and watch out for the jelly fish! We never saw any pool either and the locals never heard of them. Every restaurant in town closes by 9pm on weekdays and 10pm on the weekends and the locals tell you to go to Fredericksberg if you are looking for something to do. The canoeing and kayaking was closed when we went-on a Tuesday afternoon. It seems as if Colonial Beach was or could be a beautiful place to visit, but has lost it's self. There is no shopping or activities. It's mostly a run down place with homes all up for sale. I felt bad for Colonial Beach. I know we won't be back.

Quiet street with a great view. Warm Potomac beaches and great fishing from the docks and piers. Local pan fish called "spot" were a perch- like good eating. Crab and clams fresh from the rivah. Birding all around.
