Fun for Adults to Behave Like a Couple of Kids

My husband and I needed to get away from our noisy, busy lives. The loft is set up for larger families with kids, but we had a blast in the rec room/basement playing darts and air hockey late into the evenings with the windows open. We'd wind down by sitting on the deck, which has an impressive view of stars twinkling over Shadow Lake, listening to the loon call. Fishing on the lake from the canoe was also exciting as we kept catching perch (not quite big enough to keep, but catch and release worthwhile). The owners were more than accommodating when we had a friend visit for a few nights. She too was caught up in the magic of s'mores over the fire pit and kayak races. The area is great for running and cycling. Concord and neighboring towns are unforgettable in their hospitality and charm. We enjoyed all they had to offer from bingo nights to pet parades and farmer's markets to maple tastings.

Great family getaway

My family of 5 plus a dog enjoyed our stay. The downstairs game room / bedroom was a real plus. Dartboard, air hockey and plenty of things to entertain a mixed age group of kids. Calm location, usually quiet, but not far from road; we heard occasional traffic and road construction during the day -- not a problem. Way quieter than the city we live in! Nearby convenience store (with ice cream stand), gas, etc. was helpful. We enjoyed kayaking and swimming in the small lake. While power boats are allowed, we only had a couple of hours when other renters rode around. I suspect they get bored with the small size of the lake. I sure didn't. My daughter and I kayaked to the other end of the lake one dusk and saw water lilies in bloom, and then paddled back in the sunset. The nearby horse riding farm is highly recommended.

Weekend in Vermont

What a great time we had. It was towards the end of the foliage season but still very beautiful. This rental is off the beat path and a perfect way to relax. The owners are close by but you never know they are there. Great views of the lake, we had a chance to take the kayaks out on a foggy morning the returned when it lifted. We highly recommend staying her if you have a chance and just want to keep a low key vacation.
