Description of the Corolla vacation home rental
One mile north of Corolla, on North Carolina's famed Outer Banks, having hugged the Atlantic Ocean from all the way below Hatteras sixty miles to the south, the paved road abruptly ends. So begins one of the best kept secrets on America's east coast; for the Outer Banks are not done yet. Another eleven miles of wild and beautiful coast stretches up to Virginia's southernmost shore. Known locally as the '4-wheel drive area' for the SUV's typically needed to access its treasures, this very northern section of the Outer Banks is still sparsely inhabited. Drive north roughly three miles up the beach (4WD required) to the area known as Swan Beach, look 500 feet off to your left, and there, nestled back behind the twenty foot beach dune, you'll find a yellow beach house named Tranquility. Tranquility was built in 1997 - it's clean and modern. The house has got a lot to offer, but all else just pales in comparison to the main thing: where it is.

Area Info
Tranquility is located about 4 miles beyond the end of the 'hard road' in the area known as Swan Beach. It is fairly well centered within the 'wild and wonderful' 4WD area yet not really very far from all the amenities and fun that the Outer Banks has to offer: From the shopping and dining in Duck and Corolla, to exploring the Currituck Lighthouse or the virgin natural shores of False Cape State Park just north beyond the Virginia state line, to day trips south to Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands.

Vacation Wonderland

September 27, 2011

We had an amazing time at this property, it was our family's first vacation and have already planned that this area of the outer banks is going to be a yearly tradition. This home has amazing views, amenities beyond what was needed, wild mustangs freely roaming around the house night and day, ocean a short two minute walk, overall we had an amazing time just wish it could have been 2 weeks instead of just one.

Okay place, okay value

October 4, 2010

Ok place, but online pictures of home were much nicer than in person. Place was a little more “used” than anticipated, but was by no means trashed. Nice place to stay for middle class people on a budget (like us). Only faults were a few nasty looking cracks in the ceilings, few scrapes on the walls, dishware was little rusty, no bed sheets were included (this was not noted on the description) windows wouldn’t stay open and some fell in, no batteries in the remote controls and the smoke alarm batteries went dead (loud), and there were these odd little bugs everywhere on the outside (but there was all over the place down here in OBX in general). Views were great and got to see wild mustangs just about every morning. Neighbors were a little close, but not too close, and they were all behaved. Overall though a positive experience.

SB03 review

August 11, 2009

We were very happy with Karichele Realty that answered every phone call/question. However we were not so pleased with the property. The web site stated queen beds however they are full or doubles, the hot tub was dirty and in need of some work, most of the windows have broken locks, the dishes were dirty, the water was very very black and I have a well at home also so I know a good water system will take care of this, the carpets were just full of dog pee they desperatly need a cleaning, the picture on the web site is old because now several house have been built "on top of you", and I realize there's nothing you can do about the neighbors however they were very obnoxious not something you would expect when you have a house full of adults. We own a business and we went there to relax and get away from the "hustle and bustle" of work and we had to leave the property especially at night to get away from the screaming and music. We also enjoy to drink however we control it. /Thank you

Great Place to Be No Where!!!

June 1, 2009

First vacation in a long time. Great house and awesome location. We had wild ponys each day just outside the house. The ocean was so close and we even seen dolphins one morning. Hot tub needs a little attention, but the home was very clean and easy to get too..But don't be fooled you will need a good 4x4 and good tires.. Thanks Again.Looking forward to another get away soon..
