Description of the Cragsmoor vacation home rental

Charming Turn of the Century Dutch Colonial located in the Historic Hamletof Cragsmoor, elevation 2000 feet. Just 1 mile from Sam's Point and Bear Hill Preserves offering over 5000 acres of hiking trails. This famous artist community has activities and events thruout the summer and fall.

This is a family home and is most noted for its quiet country roads and fabulous Sunsets overlooking the Catskill Mountains. Sometimes you may be lucky enough to see a red foz, a soaring eagle or a bear.

Many fine resturants nearby, Shadowland Theater, 20 minutes to Middletown and Metro North, 70 mintues to White Plains and 90 minutes to New York City.

Rates for over 6 people are as follows
$150 per person for stay of 4 days or less

We are dog friendly and charge $50 per dog.

Area Information

This magnificent home is located in the Shawangunk Mountains and is the only community of homes on the mountaintop. It is possible to walk from Sam's Point Preserve to Minnewaska State Park and then onto the Mohonk Preserve.

Cragsmoor is strictly residential located between Pine Bush and Ellenville which offers grocery shopping, restaurants and the Shadowland Theatre in the summer. We ar a 1/2 hour from the Monticello Racetrack, Middletown and New Paltz.

Deposits: 50% of the rental due at reservation time--the remaining 50%due 1 month prior to arrival. In order to arrange a reservation it is necessary to speak with the owners by telephone. Call either Kathleen or Ruth There is no security deposit
Payment Options: Cashier's Check, Money Order, Personal Check
Other Fees: Over 6 people an additional $150 per person, for 4 days or less. We are dog friendly and charge a one time fee of $50 per dog. If not staying a week during Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day,Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years Holidays the nightly charge will be $400 for those nights that do not fall on a Friday or Saturday (those nights are $500 per ndight).

We had a wonderful stay... hiked during the days, lit a roaring fire and cooked meals in this cozy but spacious home. Would definitely stay there again. Lovely hosts... lovely scenery.

The home is beautiful and very spacious. The view was amazing. The location was great - there was a really nice hike at the end of the street, a grocery store 10 minutes away, etc. The owners were local, this seemed to be their primary residence, and were kind enough to stop by on a few occassions to drop off toys for my young daughter to play with while we were there, as well as a raincoat for me to use, as I'd left mine at home. The only drawback was there appeared to be concerns around water useage - we were cautioned not to all shower every day (we were a big group though) for fear of running out of water and to flush only when needed...hopefully this was just a matter of the need for rain this season. Otherwise we really had a great time and loved the house.
