Description of the Dahab vacation b&b rental

The hotel is located in the heart of Dahab bay, directly overlooking the sea and is designed in a beautiful traditional Arabic style of arabesque (hand made woodcraft) throughout. All rooms and suites have a sea view balcony, a private toilet, air conditioning, a fridge and a satellite TV. Both Alibaba Beach Restaurant and The Russian Roof Restaurant, have very attractive menus.

Area Description

Dahab. This pearl of Aqaba gulf actually consists of two areas, the Bedouin village of Assalah, 2.5 miles to the south, with the business and administrative center of Dahab to the north. It is a sprawling conglomeration of palm trees, shops, campgrounds, hotels and restaurants that lie along the promenade of the Bay.



Dahab means 'gold' in Arabic. In Sinai it means golden sands, turquoise sea and off-beat cafe life. It is a focus of tourism development, with swaying palms, fine sand and wonderful snorkeling opportunities. About 5 miles from town is the famous Blue Hole, for diving. Towards the Israeli border is the Island of Coral, where the Crusaders built a fort. The remains can still be seen.

Dahab

was originally a Bedouin fishing village that today is world-renowned for its windsurfing, because of the reliable winds that provide outstanding flat water conditions. However, there are many reefs immediately adjacent to the waterfront hotels, so scuba diving and snorkeling are also very popular sports.

One of the main attractions of Dahab is the sea-front restaurants which are directly overlooking the sea. Most of these restaurants have fresh fish stalls, where you can pick your own choice of fish and also how you want it cooked. The menus are delicious and quite affordable.

We would recommend the Ali Baba Hotel to anyone planning a stay in Dahab. As others on this guestbook have noted, our room was clean & comfortable, the adjoining Ali Baba restaurant offered very good food at reasonable prices, and the hotel is located centrally along the waterfront--within an easy walk of great snorkeling. But even more than all that the best aspect of our stay was the hotel manager Mohamed, who was extremely helpful in planning our trips from Dahab to Mt. Sinai and the like. He was one of the most friendly people we met in all of our time in Egypt and he helped make our time in Dahab relaxed and free of stress.
