Description of the Dennis vacation home rental
Our home is located off 6A on the Cape Cod Bay side on a quiet road, with a large shaded backyard. It's a short 5 minute walk to Chapin's Restaurant (great food & sports bar). A longer walk (or short drive) is the picturesque and historic village of Dennis. Many restaurants, shops, live theater, and attractions are only minutes away.
Area Information
Rev. Dennis' saltbox home, the Josiah Dennis Manse, is open to the public with rooms decorated in the style of the minister's day. Further along Route 6A on Scargo Lake is Scargo Hill Tower, built on the highest spot in the area at 160 feet above sea level. From the top of the 38-step tower, you can see from Barnstable Harbor to the west to Provincetown in the east.
Also on Route 6A in Dennis is the Cape Playhouse, the oldest summer playhouse in the country. Converted in 1927 from an 1820 Unitarian Church, Basil Rathbone, Bette Davis, Gregory Peck, and Henry Fonda are among the famous actors who have graced the boards. Also on the grounds the Cape Museum of Fine Arts houses a collection 500 works by Cape-associated artists.
Dennis' hiking trails, all open to the public, include Crowes Pasture off South Street at the end of Quivet Cemetery in East Dennis and the 87 acre Fresh Pond Conservation Area off Route 134.
Other activities in and around Dennis include bike-riding on the old Cape Cod Railway, two outstanding public golf courses, many great restaurants, unique shopping and, of course, beautiful sand dune beaches!

HI Tony, We had a wonderful time at "The Cape House." It was a much needed break from a very busy year. The house was perfect and felt so much a home! The kids, who normally get a little freaked not being in their own home, especially at night, loved it and felt very comfortable. And we loved the short walk to the beach!

We love this beach house! This was our second year renting. The location is perfect!! We walk to the beach and to Chapin's, a local restuarant and bar. This house is exceptionally clean and well maintained. Would definitely recommend this place to spend a great vacation on Cape Cod!!!!

I stayed here July 2006 - GREAT house lots of room and a short walk to the beach - which was good because I had a small guy with us. Plenty of room 3 bedrooms upstairs on the main floor and a room downstairs with two full size beds - where the teenagers stayed they got their privacy and we got quite! Close to lots of good restaurants and the Playhouse. Can't wait to go back!
