Description of the Dog Island vacation home rental

Come and enjoy our lovely gulf front home on the tranquil white sand beaches of Dog Island.This home was custom built by professionals and is often used as a showcase home for the island. It is positioned so that you can see the sunrise and sunset with out leaving the house.In the summer come and enjoy sea turtles hatching and in the fall witness the magnificant Monarch Butterfly's migration. The night sky is so clear that you will see stars that you had never seen before.

Area Information

Partly sheltering St. George Sound and Apalachicola Bay, Dog Island is the eastern-most part of a chain of barrier islands located off the northern panhandle of Florida.This island is small at 6.8 miles in length, accessible only by boat, ferry or airplane. There is an abundance of marine life and shelling. This island is ideal for getting away from the fast pace of everyday life.

If less than 30 days please bring cash,cashier's check, or money order.
Payment Options: Cashier's Check, Money Order, Personal Check
Other Fees: Charter to and from the Island Approximately $70-75 each way which includes 6 people. Or a ferry on certain days for $15 per person. Free parking at the ferry dock in Carrabelle

Looking to get away from it all? This is it!

Dog Island is a really neat place! The house itself is nice, but the main attraction is the beach that you have almost completely to yourself. We used Dick Vose for transportation from Carabelle to the island, and would recommend him. We do wish the owner had given us more detailed instructions such as: make/model/color of car we were to use, exact directions on how to drive to the house from the dock. Also, make sure to bring drinking water (the water is actually sulfur, with a little water mixed in =) and toilet paper, just in case. The recycling bin and dumpster are on the west side of the dock road, just a couple 100 meters south of the dock. The beach is awesome. We walked down to the west end of the island and saw several huge sting rays in the water and sea turtle tracks and nests. We easily caught enough fish and crabs for a couple meals, and the beachcombing was great. We wished we could have stayed longer, and we definitely plan to return!

An Awesome Experience!

Consider yourself lucky if you get to stay at Dreamweaver. It is a beautiful oceanfront property directly on the beach. The island is pristine and magically beautiful with many species of birds and huge seashells.. The owner Richard was very hospitable as was Vicky Vose who transported us to and from the town dock. The house is without internet and TV reception (like many homes on Dog Island), but there was a VCR with plenty of movies to choose from. The kitchen is large and well equipped and there's a big deck that we enjoyed sitting out on day and night. The shower wasn't as hot as we are used to but that wouldn't stop us from returning to this awesome home. I loved Dreamweaver and I hope to return someday.

The PERFECT place to ESCAPE!!!

We apologize for the delay in review. We were so sad over having to come home that it was actually rather hard to come back to this site. If I could turn back time...I would. Dog Island and the Lees' home are AMAZING! This is definitely one of the most beautiful and accomodating homes on the island. The views from the windows of the home and from the wrap-around deck are phenomenal, and, when they say you are "on the beach," you really are literally "ON THE BEACH!" We had near total privacy for the entire week, as if we owned the house AND the beach. We could feel a sense of love and family in the home which made our stay sheer comfort. The sea life, vegetation, beach, ocean, and birds are beyond description. At night, we even viewed the milky way with our naked eyes so clearly that it seemed we could reach out and touch it! You can watch the sun both set AND rise from the island, and it is very, VERY beautiful. Everything is peaceful, clean, relaxing, and just downright paradise! Thank you for a one-of-a-kind vacation that will never be forgotten. Hopefully we will make it back to the island again soon. We sure do miss it. P.S. Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Vose for their hospitality. If any of you readers get a chance to indulge in a vacation on Dog Island, please give them a call for charter boat service. They're the BEST! :)
