Description of the Dog Island vacation home rental

Our property is located right on the beach. Enjoy kayaking, fishing, crabbing, shelling and just plain relaxing on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. After a day on the beach enjoy an outdoor shower while listening to the waves break.

Right outside your front door is some of the best shore casting in the area we regularly catch Redfish and Pompano. Fire up the grill and enjoy a meal outside on the deck as the sun sets.

great vcr dvd collection (but very poor TV reception) stereo,and c.d. player
charcoal grill
hammock
ceiling fans in every room
water chlorination system (ie. clear, drinkable water!)
outdoor hot shower
fully air conditioned and heated
washer/dryer
fully equipped kitchen (microwave, dishwasher, blender, bread machine,toaster oven,coffee bean grinder,coffee pot,electric ice cream maker, etc.)
master bedroom/bath with queen bed
2 Quenn beds, 1 Full a Twin and 1 queen futon
2 kayaks with paddles and life vests,
sandflea rake,
a 4wd Bronco is provided to get to and from the ferry dock

Since no bridge connects Dog Island to Carrabelle, you leave your vehicle in the Dog Island ferry parking lot and charter a boat to and from the island. Our neighbor runs a charter service for about $70 each way for a group of 6 people or less. Upon arrival at the island, our truck is available to you for transportation to the house and back to the dock.

We generally rent the house for one week minimum stays; occasionally we rent for a shorter amount of time. You are expected to clean the house upon leaving or you can arrange for our neighbor to do it for about $85.

Renting is generally discourged on the island so it is extremely important that all guests abide by all island and house rules which include:obeying the 25mph speed limit in our truck and driving only to and from the house, lights-out for turtles May-September,recycle glass and plastic, no fires, no fireworks, no trespassing on Dog Island Yacht Club docks or parking area. Absloutley no pets or smoking at the house.

"One Of A Kind"

The rental house & property were exactly as advertised; comfortable, clean, and well equipped for most household needs. Kitchen even had a couple of small appliances that I was surprised to find--like a waffle iron. The Bronco vehicle drove well; as an added bonus, it even had a cargo rack on the top, so there was extra room for hauling supplies if you needed it (like we did). I thought the owner was really nice. She was easy to contact, always returning calls in a timely manner. Seemed like she went out of her way to help ensure our trip to Dog Island was enjoyable, and I really appreciated the fact that she returned our security deposit so promptly after we returned home. This trip was probably a "One Of A Kind", never to be duplicated again: Wanted to take my 2 nieces (ages 20 & 15) for some "girl-bonding time" before they grow up & get busy with families of their own. Was a bit concerned they might get a little bored (no TV, malls, stores, restaurants or boyfriends available). However, the 3 of us had an absolutely wonderful time!! They loved the house, location, and the fact that we were kind of isolated and more or less had our own private beach (no crowds!). We spent a whole lot of time building and decorating our rather elaborate sandcastle. Also spent MANY hours beachcombing, which is a favorite hobby for all of us; Dog Island is the IDEAL location for this activity!! (I've been to probably 25 or more islands around the world, and I've never seen another beach that can match Dog Island's for quantity and size of seashells.) We also found over 20 'intact' sand dollars. Every beach walk was a "treasure hunt"! Just out of curiosity, we walked the road and took a couple of different paths to explore the island and see where we ended up. Most of all, we just enjoyed spending time together in a beautiful, unique environment. Took a lot of lovely pictures, and made a LOT of wonderful memories.

Paradise on Earth!!!

We stayed in this beautiful house on Dog Island in July 2012. It is a charming home that had everything we needed. The view from the deck is breathtaking. The sand is fine and the water is clean and clear. It was a perfect place to get away from our hectic life and enjoy Paradise on Earth!!! If you want a place that is quiet, peaceful and with noone around this is the place! We will definitely go back there! Thank you for letting us your home!

We scheduled a stay here and Tropical Storm Debby stopped it from happening - but Christian refunded us in full and WE WILL GO IN 2013! Also, he communicated very well and quickly from the moment I inquired all the until the day we were forced to cancel. I don't think many owners would do what he did for us -
