Description of the Dorrington vacation cabin rental
Rent this secluded cabin nestled under towering cedar and fir trees. Up in the Sierra at over 5,000 feet, you'll be only minutes from rivers, lakes, skiing, canoeing, golfing or just plain relaxing out on the deck. This 2-bedroom + loft, 2-bath cabin with its large sleeping loft can comfortably accommodate up to ten people. Enjoy the towering A-frame pine ceiling while sitting by the fire or go out for long walks in the nearby woods. It's only about 3 hours from the Bay Area with easy access from Highway 4.
With a weekday rental fee of only $120 per night and $140 for weekend nights (slightly higher for holidays and during the ski season; see the Availability page), it's a very affordable way to enjoy all of what California's spectacular Sierra has to offer.
The Stanislaus National Forest in the Sierras surrounds this area with tall cedar and fir trees covering the landscape. The small town hamlet of Dorrington and the well known Camp Connell Country Store are the few near by places off State Highway 4 which connects this area to the San Joaquin Valley and the Bay Area below. A 20 minute drive from our cabin is the well known ski area of Bear Valley with has lifts operating from Thanksgiving through Memorial Day. We are also near snow parks for other wintertime recreation such as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
Only minutes down the road from our cabin is the North Fork of the Stanislaus River which winds majestically through the deep canyon providing excellent trout fishing in the Spring and Fall. There are also several excellent hiking mountain bike trails throughout this area.
It's a wonderful place to go year round with snow usually down to the 5,000 ft level from November through May and wonderfully warm summers in the mid-80's from June through September. And there are numerous lakes to swim in to cool off including Lake Alpine just up the Hwy 4 past Bear Valley, Uttica and Union Reservoirs which are upcountry in a beautiful granite basins formed in the last ice age.
And for an easy place for kids to swim there's always White Pines lake with it 's sandy beach near the town of Arnold about 6 miles down the road from our cabin.
Whatever you choose to do it's a great sierra retreat area year round for fun or relaxation.
