Description of the Doty vacation cottage rental

This charming one bedroom cottage overlooks Elk Creek just outside the small rural town of Doty in SW Washington's "Volcano County." The upper Chehalis River valley offers striking views of Mt. Rainier and the surrounding Willapa Hills which are densely forested and home to a wide variety of birds and wildlife. We accept credit cards or personal checks.

Antiques and a small woodstove supply the interior of the cottage with a sense of warmth and country comfort. The cottage has a bedroom w/queen bed, bath w/shower, fully equipped kitchen, dining and living room w/full size sleeper sofa.

The Cottage sits right on Elk Creek. You can enjoy views of the creek and surrounding woodlands while relaxing on the deck or from most every room in the cottage. The cottage accommodates four people comfortably. It is hard to imagine a more inviting way to be soothed to sleep then by the rhytm of the creek with its rapids above the cottage and waterfall below.

The Cottage is located 18 miles west of Chehalis, WA near Rainbow Falls State Park on Scenic Byway #6. The Park has trails through old growth forest, great swimming hoes, picnic shelters, baseball diamonds and swings for the \"kid in you.\" Also along Byway #6 you can visit the Chehalis-Centralia Railraod\'s Steam Train for a nostalgic ride along the Chehalis River.

The rolling hills and valleys in the west to mountainious regions in the east \"Volcano Country\" suggests a feeling of time pasat. Lewis County, name after the explorer Meriweather Lewis is the largest and oldest country in the state. The area suggests a feeling of times past with the historic cities of Centralia and Chehalis and other towns that evoke that \"small town charm.\" The cottage is located in the southwest corner of Lewis County in the Willipa Hills which are part of the Pacific coastal range.

You can take a easy day trip and visit Mt. St. Helens or Rainier National Park or the Pacific Ocean beaches or just picnic in the yard at the cottage.

Visit the charming downtown\'s of the Twin Cities (Chehalis-Centralia) and browse the abundant antique malls in Centralia. Drive the Old Hwy 99 (now Jackson Hwy) and dine at Mary McCrank\'s landmark dinner house for real home cooking family style. Spend a lively afternoon or evening at McMenamins Olympia Club in Centralia enjoying live entertainment, great food and some of Washington\'s best micro-brewery beers.

Take a lesiurely bike ride along mmiles of country roads and visit the neighboring town of Dryad the site of an 1890's ghost town just a half mile from the Cottage. Fish for Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout from the deck of the cottage or visit the fish ladder at the falls just a few steps away to observe salmon as they migrate upstream in the spring and fall to spawn. Native birds, deer andother wildlife abound.

The cottage is only 2 miles aways from Rainbow Falls State Park on Scenic Byway #6. The Park has trails through old growth forest, great swimming holes, picnic shelters, baseball diamonds and swings for the "kid in you."

• Other Fees: Linens are provided at no extra charge. Bath towels are not provided but can be with a one time $20 cleaning charge for bath towels if requested. We offer B&B and "special occasion" packages at an additional charge. Please inquire.
