Area Description
Inchicore and Kilmainham are two of Dublin's most historic districts, and feature in many prominent episodes in Irish history.
Inchicore is bounded on its western side by the Grand Canal, an 18th century mode of transport, as well as the Luas, Dublin's 21st century tram system which opened in 2004.Between Inchicore and Phoenix Park is the Irish National War Memorial Gardens, which was built to commemorate those Irish soldiers who died in World War I.Kilmainham Jail was the scene of the execution of many Irish Republican Army leaders captured after the Easter Rising in 1916. Opposite the jail is The Royal Hospital Kilmainham, now home to Irish Museum of Modern Art, built in 1684 as a home for retired soldiers. Based on Les Invalides in Paris, the building consists of four unbroken ranges enclosing a courtyard. Previously the site of a Church in the 7th century. Brian Boru assembled his army at Kilmainham prior to the Battle of Clontarf. VisitDrimnagh Castle, only a 5 minute drive away
Our apartment is situated beside St. Mary's Oblate Church. There is a life size replica of the Grotto at Lourdes to the rear to the church and beautiful grounds which the local people have enjoyed for many years. Just minutes from the Grand Canal, one can take a leisurely stroll and feed the ducks and swans along the way. Memorial Park which commemorates the heros of World War 1 is also a short distance. Inchicore itself is a quiet residential area and while close to the city centre, it provides some solitude from the city centre traffic and hustle and bustle. There are a choice of Restaurants and Pubs in the immediate area, giving you the opportunity to mingle with some true Dublin characters and you will genuinely experience Dublin as it is for the locals.
Just a short walk from Dublin's top tourist attraction, Kilmainham Gaol, scene of the execution of the 1916 revolution leaders and also the Museum of Modern Irish Art. Inchicore is an ideal base to explore Dublin city and surrounding counties. There is plenty to see in Dublin city such as Guinness Brewery where you can sample an authentic pint of Guiness, Jamestown Distillery where the famous Jameson Irish Whiskey is produced, Museum of Natural Irish history in Collins Barracks, National Art Gallery, Christchurch Cathedral, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin Castle, Trinity College and the famous Book of Kells. The lively Temple Bar area with it's cobbled streets is not to be missed. One can take in some retail therapy in Grafton St. or simply relax with a stroll around St. Stephen's Green. We are 10 minutes from the Phoenix Park which is home to Dublin Zoo. Situated on the N7 route to the city centre, we are only 10 minutes from the M50 and N4 providing easy access to the surrounding counties of Wicklow, Kildare and Meath. One can visit Castletown House is Celbridge, one of Irelands largest and earliest Palladian style house. My 2 best friends and myself went to Dublin to celebrate our 50th Birthday's together. Choosing this apartment was a GREAT experience from the first email I sent to enquire about it. Grainne answered all my emails almost as fast as I could write them, and gave us wonderful ideas when planning our trip. She arranged for us to be fetched from the airport when we arrived. We were so taken back when the door was opened, each and every room was so beautifully decorated. We had a bottle of champagne waiting for us along with fresh bread and flowers. On the coffee table was a notebook full of information with everything from transportation(with the bus number), to local pubs. The location was perfect for us. We came and went at all times of day and night and always felt our apartment was secure. The luas (red line tram) was a 5 minute walk, we immediately bought a 7 days pass (was also good for the bus) and road the luas several times a day. That was our favorite way to travel. We had bought a train pass to travel to other areas of Ireland. The luas took us right to the train station. There were sights such as the Kilmainham Gaol that would have been close enough to walk to.
We had a Great Birthday celebration, thanks to Grainne for her details of the apartment, that turned out to be better than what we had even imagined.

Myself and some old university friends were looking for a place to stay for a reunion and sight seeing trip to Dublin. It was very last minute so we were very worried that being summer it would cost a fortune. However this apartment was ideal!
When we arrived from our various corners of the UK we were thrilled to find that Grainne had left us a guide to advise us about all the local transport routes and attractions including customer reviews on the local restaurants. It was really useful during our week.
Also she had considerately stocked the apartment with tea, coffee, milk, bread and butter and also a nice cold bottle of champagne. The apartment really was a home away from home!
Another selling point we found was Leo who lives just behind and is a local taxi driver. The book provided his number and he was kind enough to drive us anywhere, any time as well as providing taxi transfers to the airport (although we used the budget option of the air links).
Our stay could not have been more pleasant, we would certainly recommend the apartment to anyone who is looking for a great place to stay in south west Dublin as it is only 15 minutes by luas to town and there are many attractions within walking distance.
The apartment would suit either those looking for a budget holiday or those looking for a more relaxed holiday but a little distance from the night life in the town centre.

Hi Grainne,
I just wanted to send you a quick note and thank you for helping to make our visit in Ireland wonderful. The apartment was great and we really appreciated the bread and tea on our arrival. We saw a Lot and personally I was very impressed with Ireland’s commitment to energy and resource conservation, as well as apparently how well they have educated their residents with Down Syndrome whom I saw making their way about Dublin independently with the rest of the work force.
The country is beautiful. Thank you again for helping us make our vacation great. We even ordered a Turkey from the butcher down the street and had Thanksgiving!
All the best,
Sue, Jim and family.
Our weekend away was fantastic thank you and the apartment was beautiful. You really have thought of everything which made our stay in your apartment really enjoyable.
Thank you again for a lovely stay
Karly
