Description of the Dunedin vacation condo rental
The Captain's Quarters is a spacious and beautiful, fully equipped waterfront condo. You can easily hop to islands with sandy beaches, shade trees, and water birds. You can also fish in crystal clear grass flats for spotted trout, red fish, snook, and tarpon. Make sure you take the boat to deserted Gulf Beach islands for sea-shelling, and swimming.
A free boat comes with your vacation!! No other vacation rentals in the area offers this amenity!
Boating not your thing? Relax on your private dock for Captain's Quarters guests only. Take a scenic beach bike ride on the Dunedin Causeway or head to Honeymoon Island for nature trails. While you're there you can take the ferry to the #1 rated island -Caladesi Island and grab a bite to eat at their cafe.
Are you into shopping and dining? Downtown Dunedin has a culture that can not be found anywhere else! Enjoy unique shopping experiences and very unique dining. If you enjoy healthy Mexican food..Casa Tina's is our favorite! It's so close you could ride one of the bikes the Captain's Quarters provide! Oh and did I mention we are known for our fresh seafood? And there is PLENTY of it!!
Want to go for a drive? Tampa, FL is only 30 minutes away and you can find anything and everything there. This city is known for its night life, shopping, and restaurants. Head to International Plaza, historic Ybor City, or Hyde Park Village for all three! Guests can also go to Busch Gardens or Adventure Island to experience high velocity roller coasters and water park adventures!
Looking for a little magic? Orlando and Walt Disney World is only about a 2 hour drive. Perfect for day trips! Adults will enjoy the 4 different theme parks just as much as the kids!!

Area Information
Called "Delightfully Different," Dunedin offers visitors a unique experience. Steeped in Scottish heritage, the town of Stirling, located in Scotland, is Dunedin's sister city. The Highland Games and Festival, held every spring, showcases this legacy while bringing an international flavor to the area through the varied cuisine and the competing bands and dancers from around the world.
Visitors to charming downtown Dunedin can stroll brick sidewalks while stopping in fine restaurants, antique stores and art galleries. A portion of the Pinellas Trail, a 47-mile-long linear park, winds right through downtown, offering bikers, walkers and rollerbladers a chance to stretch their legs. The Dunedin Fine Arts Center presents a unique view of Florida's environment, history and people via the "Florida Treasures" Art Mural. This fascinating mural is 85 feet long and is comprised of hand-painted glazed ceramic tiles.
Dunedin's natural escapes include Honeymoon and Caladesi Island State Parks, among the few remaining undeveloped barrier islands on Florida's coast. Caladesi, in fact, is so untouched that it is accessible only via a public ferry or private boat. These unspoiled refuges are ideal locations for family picnics, swimming, boating, fishing and shelling. Or take a guided walk led by a park ranger to learn about the many birds which make the islands their home, including endangered species such as the Great Blue Heron, Wood Storks and Snowy White Egrets. Whatever activities you choose, be prepared for peaceful seclusion and a view of Florida in its pristine state.

Perfect For Us

Everything exceeded our expectations. The accommodations were wonderful and rather upscale, Alex and Janet , the owners, feel like old dear friends. The boats are perfect for fishing and cursing around the sound and there is much to do in the area. The boats are in great condition and very basic . You must be the kind of person who does not mind sitting on a hard seat without a back that ride with a bit of bump in a chop as they are flat bottom, .being very familiar with these types of boats, they were perfect for us! You can fish , motor over to an amazing Island Park, boat to a restaurant on the water and the fishing is great, Alex will show you all of the best spots. We caught diner more than once. But even if your not a boater it is nice to be near the water with all of the wild life around and well appointed decks . All your outdoor needs are taken care of from bikes to fishing rods. We are going to book our next trip right now and plan to return to what feels like a second home on a regular basis.

Well what a beautiful place this is,an absolutely amazing location..the condo itself was like a home from home...just lovely,we loved the beach and nautical theme the condo had too also had absolutely everything in there you need...just bring your clothes!!!...all amenities within walking distance...had so much fun on the boat used it most days,Caladesi,honeymoon and three rooker easily accessible and are the most amazing beaches what I can only describe as paradise...just take your beach chairs,fill up your cool box with your lunch,water and beers and hey presto spend the day relaxing or exploring the stunning islands. Janet and Captain Alex are the loveliest people,very helpful,always near by should you need anything...also recommended us some great places to visit and eateries,they go beyond and more to assist you have a great vacation. Tampa airport is around 40 mins away so not far if you hire a car from airport,fantastic malls if you do hire a car none of them any further than an hours drive away...Bay shore international plaza right next to Tampa AIrport,Westfield shopping mall around 15-20 mins away by car,Ellenton shopping outlet around an 1hour 15minutes drive away,worth a visit great shops. Great wildlife dolphins swimming right up to your decking outside your condo...a family of dolphins came everyday,playing and jumping sometimes 8 feet into the air!....also when we were out on the boat dolphins swimming around us playing next to our boat...a wonderful site! Catching fish constantly just sitting on the dock outside your condo....large white stork would wait outside our patio every morning for us to catch him a fish...then would be back again for his dinner...on the last day she brought her baby with her,as if to say thank you and goodbye. You have to stay here,I've told my partner I'm retiring here!!...the best holiday we have ever had....didn't want to leave,coming back again next year...shame it's so far away for us or we would stay here more often.

You seriously can't beat this place. Such a great time with the boat and all the different beautiful surrounding islands. We live right by the beach but love going to this area that's like old Florida. The owners think of everything from bikes, kayaks, fishing poles,we even enjoyed some Texas hold em they had in the closet. Whether you want to be active or relax its got everything. This was our second time back, but definitely not our last!

The ONLY negative thing I can say is that it only has one bathroom for a two bedroom condo. But the condo is gorgeous, the boat was an added plus and the owners were very helpful.

This was a great Place and enjoyed every Minute!!!The Condo had so much to Offer.We had every thing you needed ,we had Lunch every day on the deck and took in the View! The Boat was so much Fun, got to see the small islands, the Dolphins and other Fish. Alex and Janet were the best. always there to answer any questions. Looking forward to seeing you again.We ate close by at some Good restaurant:s and Used the Barbecue and sat out in the evening on the deck. Thanks for a great Vacation!!!

Fantastic Fishing Holiday

The condo was perfect, it was quiet, comfortable and very well equipped. The views from the living area and bedroom were fantastic. The new dock was a lovely place to spend relaxing, fishing and taking photographs of the beautiful Florida sunsets. Alex and Janet are lovely people and are always there to help with any questions you may have. The boat was a great fun, we enjoyed visiting the islands that could only be accessed by boat and had some great days fishing. Alex provided us with excellent fishing rods and gear all you need for fishing. We also enjoyed using the BBQ and eating our meal overlooking the water. The condo is in an excellent area, so easy to get around and we took advantage of the bicycles, some great cycle paths just a bit hot and humid in July. Overall an excellent holiday with no complaints.

Traveled from Seattle to get a sun break and it ended up being colder there than home!...Had a great time ..stayed in the Gulf View condo Alex and Janet are great people ..we are trying to get back there this year and hope we get some sun on our next trip You simply can not go wrong with the accommodations or the people there We have told our friends about this place and we would recommend it to anyone who enjoys privacy and a very comfortable,clean,friendly atmosphere...sorry we did not know about this place years ago!!

Captains Quarters... again!

My son and I have been going to the Captains Quarters for a couple of years now and are heading back again at the end of August 2010. Firstly your hosts, Janet and Alex, are very friendly and accomodating but never intrusive. The apartments are verey comfortable, stylishly furnished and have all mod cons. You have your own boat, one for each apt, and Alex is on hand for any nervous first timers. The surrounding scenery and the freedom the boat affords you is outstanding and worth every penny. Dunedin is quiet and quaint but within easy reach of Clearwater or Tampa for anyone wanting some louder nightlife. Nightlife at the captains quarters is centered around the dock, with its underwater fishing light, the large grill on the porch of every unit and meeting new people for a laugh and a beer. There are bicycles, fishing poles and kayaks available to use for everyone and the world is literally your oyster from the captains quarters!

Hi all Just returned home from wonderful holiday at the Captains Quarters. Alex and Janet were really nice and made you feel very relaxed with everything. Using the boat was great fun, even if at times you had to risk your neck and go with tommy who was staying next door -- Only joking buddy!. We stayed at this lovely condo and had a wonderful week. The use of the boat was great for exploring the nearby islands that are near the condo. The owners were so friendly and made you feel welcome. My husband loves to fish and he was able to take the boat out every morning and fish. He also went on a Charter Trip with captain Alex. The condo was decorated very nicely and everything was very clean. We hope to go back there again soon!
