Description of the Durango vacation condo rental

If you are used to Vail Luxury, our lovingly upgraded Durango Mountain Condo might not qualify, Ha Ha. However, if you enjoy travertine walled bathrooms with beautiful fixtures, attractive furnishings, rugs and bedding, hardwood flooring, and a nicely improved kitchen; we may have just the spot for you! Wait, did I mention that there are two levels of views, a balcony as well as a patio, and an oversize jacuzzi tub?

Vail and Telluride are beautiful, we can't deny. However, we chose Durango Mountain Resort and Purgatory for our future retirement home for special reasons: 1. Durango is laid back, it was once voted a "worst dressed" community, along with being voted one of the BEST outdoor activity communities in the USA year after year. No need to worry about special apres ski wear, come as you are! 2. The mountain feels rural, things are accessible yet a little spread out; so you still feel close to nature and not trapped in a metropolis. 3. Durango down-town is an easy drive from the Purgatory ski resort; and offers arts, festivals, the Durango-Silverton train, a 4 year college, very high per capita restaurant options, and lots of historic cowboy charm.

Our condo is a 3-4 minute walk to the 6 pack lift. Just head up to the street level, hang a left and you'll quickly arrive at snow near the ski tunnel. Pop skis on here and scoot down the tunnel to the bunny slopes, straight ahead to the 6 pack lift, or right towards ski beach & Purgies Bar & Restaurant, the ski school meeting area, day care, and gear shops.

From our permitted parking spot in front of our East Rim building, head right one minute and up the steps to the plaza. The plaza offers a Deli with Starbucks, Italian eatery, ladies cute clothing boutique, 4 outdoor and ski gear shops, and an activity center to book sled rides, snow mobile tours, ice climbing adventures, ski bike lessons and more.

We love skiing all day mountain, and often eating dinner out as well. Purgies mixed green salad with Alaskan salmon filet, peppercorn steak, local meat burgers and the sweet potato criss cut fries were favorites this year. We also love to take the easy 30 minute drive to down-town, preferably before sunset to see the amazing views; eat at one of many favorites: Chimayo, Ken and Sue's, Linda's Local Foods Cafe, Nino's or Steamworks Brewery to name a few. There are options for every budget and taste bud.

For evenings in, our condo has everything you need to prepare and serve a beautiful meal. In the kitchen we have baking pans, mixing bowls, plentiful gadgets, a chopping block knife set, crock pot waffle maker, turkey roasting pan, multiple cutting boards and more. For dinners in; enjoy the ambiance of a counter height dining set, unique Italian glassware, hand forged Gourmet Settings Flatware, stoneware serving bowls, cloth napkins, even chargers to fancy up the stoneware plates.

The 8 seater dining tabel has plenty of room for playing games after dinner, or head over to the 42" flat screen to watch the game, or snuggle on beautifully colored rugs in front of the fireplace with cocoa. The fireplace is wood burning, with wood included in rates! Whether the little ones are getting nighttime grumpy, or the muscles ache from skiing a soothing bath in the oversize jacuzzi tub, surrounded with beautiful sand colored travertine and copper glass accents; will soothe things out. Our home has 2 bath tubs, a great feature for kids and moms that prefer a bath.

Deposits: Dear Guest, Once we place a guest's vacation dates on the calendar, we do turn all other inquiries away. For that reason our polices are: 50% of stay balance to reserve dates 50% of stay balance due 30 days prior to arrival non -holiday, 60 holiday. If you foresee a cancellation emergency, best to purchase a reasonable cancellation protection through insuremytrip . We will try to re-rent guest dates in event of emergency, but only issue refunds if we can re-rent minus $20 night re-booking fee.

Other Fees: Departure cleaning $149. Total amount goes to cleaners; think of it as saving a full day of vacation time to have fun!. DMMA Guest use 8% of rental rate. This is optional to use the pool, hot tub and fitness center but must be decided before booking. Sorry we can not add or remove DMMA access after the reservation is made, as we need to register each using guest with DMMA. Pets: up to 2 dogs with prior acceptance of pet Welcome Policies and mandatory upkeep fee.

Other Vacation Rental Amenities

Our DMMA Membership allows guests to pay an 8% Guest use fee to have daily access to the heated outdoor pool with waterfall and stunning mountain and slope views, the cascading hot tub, and the fitness center. There is also access to optional paid spa services area and ski valet. These member amenities are all located in the Purgatory lodge, whose entrance is 1 minute walk from our door. In summer the guest amenities also include tennis courts just across the highway.
