Description of the Durham vacation home rental

This recently restored Landmark Property merges all the modern conveniences while still retaining it's old world charm. Located on the edge of a very cool little neighborhood Hamlet of Oak Hill, and only 15 minutes to Windham for winter sports. Stainless appliances, granite counter tops, custom hand crafted kitchen cabinets, custom stained glass and original wideboard floors. Come and stay in a truly amazing and unique home. Situated on 4 acres of neighborhood, park-like, wooded and Catskill Creek frontage. Walk to the back of the property for fishing, kayaking, picnicing or for a swim in the swimming hole. Anything that's in the house is yours to use, so please feel free. This is a dog friendly rental, so please ask if anyone in your group has allergies. We do not allow cats, sorry, we are cat lovers too, however there are many people who are severely allergic to them.

Vacation Rental Policies

Payment Options: Money Order, PayPal
Check In: 3 p.m.
Check Out: 11 a.m.
Required Stay: 2 nights (3 on holidays)
Deposits: This is a CASH/MONEY ORDER OR PAYPAL RENTAL. All Paypal rentals incur a 6% fee to cover Paypal's commission fee. 50% of rental fee is due at time of booking. 50% balance and security deposit of $500 due 1 week prior. Property Manager will inspect home upon check out and approve refund of deposit. This is a NO SMOKING property. If you smoke in the house you will forfeit your entire security deposit.
Other Fees: Cancellations have a $50 minimum. If you terminate 15-30 days prior to start of rental, we will keep half your deposit. If you terminate agreement within 15 days of the start of the rental we will keep the entire deposit. If we rebook the house we will refund the deposit less $50 admin fee. There is a $150 cleaning fee for each house that is to be paid in advance with Money Order or Paypal, but you are still expected to leave the house as you found it.

We had a wonderful experience starting with my first contact with the owners Robb & Joanne. They were extremely helpful and their home was magnificent. It has been completely renovated from its early days 1845 I believe. THe work that Robb did on the home was fantastic and made the home very confortable for the 6 of us. The area is quite and charming, and there is a very good restaurant about 1/4 mile away which allows you too walk off the wonderful desserts they serve. We had a great time and the home was just what we were looking for.

We had one of the best vacation weeks we’ve had in years during our recent stay at the Icicle House. The property is awesome: a huge lawn stretches down from the house to the imposing Catskill Creekand and it’s right in the middle of the magnificent scenery and history of the Catskills! If you love unusual and original architecture, you’ll love the house itself. The roof molding is completely unique! The exterior has been completely restored to its mid-19th century appearance. The interior is a very successful integration of original detail with modern conveniences. The kitchen was new and well stocked with dishes, cutlery and pots and pans. Same with linens and towels. I really loved the owners: Robb and Joanne. Totally cool people who were very friendly and accommodating. One of their best tips was a restaurant within walking distance called The Kitchen, I think.
