East Hampton Travel Tips

If you’re interested in taking advantage of East Hampton summer rentals, there is no end to the things you can do and enjoy during your visit. There are many attractions and events for you and your family to take in. Within easy reach of East Hampton, NY, rentals are many exciting, inspiring, and educational activities for all ages. East Hampton has beautiful public parks, fascinating museums, fun shopping, and first-rate dining. One of the best things about East Hampton vacation rentals is that they are situated near so many relaxing natural settings. East Hampton rentals also give access to the excellent beaches in the area, which are among the great natural attractions of the area.
Things to Do and See
Montauk is located at the very end of the highway and easily reached from most East Hampton rentals. You can go no further than Montauk without reaching the ocean. When you turn left at the town itself, you will get to the quaint, but still active, fishing harbor. Visitors can shop at various tackle and bait shops for the gear they need and charter boats for a day of fishing out on the water. There are also (no surprise) plenty of excellent seafood restaurants in the area.
If you go straight instead, you’ll encounter the majestic Montauk Lighthouse, which is picturesque and educational at the same time. It even has an attached museum for visitors. Keep in mind that parking on the street is prohibited, so you will have to use the parking lot. After climbing to the top of the lighthouse and looking out across the ocean, you might want to take a walk along the beach and watch the fishermen wading into the surf.
Other Outdoor Activities
A smart way to enjoy the community of East Hampton is to become a part of it by taking advantage of East Hampton house rentals by owner that you can find online. When visitors rent a home in the area, it can save time and effort by providing a home base from which to launch their explorations of the many outdoor activities available in East Hampton. For instance, check out Two Mile Hollow Beach, which is one of the few places where you can swim in the area that actually has a full-time lifeguard. It also has open sandy areas for the children to enjoy and plenty of clean, warm water.
East Hampton house rentals also give you access to sporting activities like golf. The East Hampton Golf Club is one of the most popular golf courses in the region. If you’re not interested in a full 18 holes of golf, you can make use of the practice range. Even for non-golfers, the scenery is stunning. A vacation rental provides easy access to many other sports as well.
Culture and Museums
Another enjoyable attraction in East Hampton is the Longhouse Reserve. This is a well-known East Hampton museum that features unique exhibits and a beautiful and relaxing waterway just outside. In this splendid addition to your itinerary, you can find beautiful stoneware, old African ceramics, and a variety of artwork from around the world.
The Sweet Home Museum is a beautifully preserved and untouched early 18th century home. This is an opportunity for you and your family to learn about the past. This house is essentially the same as it was when it was built by the early English settlers. Both the house and its contents provide you with a glimpse into the life and times of the early colonial period in East Hampton.
There are plenty of indoor activities to enjoy in East Hampton as well. At the guild hall of the Playwrights’ Theatre of East Hampton, you and your family can enjoy the latest plays. You might even get the chance to talk to the writer and producer and some of the cast. You will also be able to interact with locals in the audience and become part of the community.
Events
If you’re looking for something special to do, there’s no shortage of area events, especially in the warmer months. For instance, in June, take a trip down to Southampton for the Southampton Rose Society’s annual Rose Show and Competition. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful roses and the arrangement contest. And in August, check out the annual East Hampton Sand Castle Contest, featuring competition in five categories on the Atlantic Avenue Beach in neighboring Amagansett. The contest raises money for charitable causes.
