Cathance Lake, is spring fed, and considered one of the cleanest and finest deepwater lakes in Maine, relatively undisturbed, and known for its substantial populations of loons and salmon. The lake is located approximately 100 miles east of Bangor, Maine, and about 25 miles west of the Maine/New Brunswick border - in the heart of the unspoiled Downeast Maine interior.

Quiet and secluded, with an unrestricted view of the lake, this historic Maine outfitting camp has now reverted to a private compound. There are no other rental units on the property. The property is over 4 acres, with docks, wooded trails, a small camping area, garden, and several outdoor fireplaces.   Buildings and artifacts dating back to the early 1930's, the entire property has an ambiance and atmosphere that has attracted visitors to return for decades.

The cottage is located directly on the shore of the lake - the distance from the deck to the water is about 4';  There is a 40' floating dock in front of the cottage, with a platform and Adirondack bench. There is also a small protected shallow entry in front of the camp; swimming is superb.  The bottom is rocky, though relatively level directly in front of the camp.  Spring fed, Cathance Lake is exceptionally clean.

The Managers Cottage has three bedrooms, it is ideal for one or two couples or a small family.  The cottage has all the modern facilities, is totally equipped for cooking - and was totally renovated several years ago. Canoes are included with the rental.  

Picturesque and rustic in appearance, the premises have actually been used several times over the years as a shooting location for film and advertising.   This rental offers a  large private property - with plenty of room, and privacy, to relax and enjoy one of the finest settings in eastern Maine.

With over 4 acres of land, a rustic setting complete with wooded trails, docks, a small camping area, garden, several outdoor fireplaces, excellent fishing and canoes available this unique property is in the interior of one of Maine's most unspoiled and less touristed regions.

The downeast Maine coast is about 20 miles away; and the easternmost point in the U.S. (Eastport-Lubec area) us less than an hour's drive.
The Canadian border, with access to the Maritime Provinces, is about 25 miles away; and Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park is less than 2 hours drive.
