Beautiful large home is fabulous for corporate retreats, vacationing families, multifamily rental, and wedding parties. The quiet atmosphere makes this an ideal spot for artists, writers, and musicians. Relax and enjoy your stay at the historic Frederick Davis House, with extra options including excellent meals provided by a professional chef. Watch the bald eagles and other wildlife, or take advantage of the abundance of tremendous opportunities for outdoor activities. Professional guides can be arranged in advance of your arrival. Kayaking tours can begin in the backyard.

The Frederick Davis house is a former ship builder's house built circa 1875 with beautiful views from every window. The house boasts 5 large bedrooms, a large fully remodeled eat-in kitchen (seats 10), with granite countertops and beautiful custom built cabinetry, two and a half baths (huge master bath has double large shower and two person whirlpool tub with beautiful river views, two sinks and dressing area).

The property is 4 acres on a peninsula that jets out into the tidal East Machias river. Kayaking from our cove around the bend will lead out into Machias Bay and then into the Gulf of Maine.

Bald eagles on the property, seals in the river, foxes, moose and deer can be seen. Lobstering, fabulous fly fishing and world class small mouth bass fishing, birding (eagles, osprey, puffins, loons, commorants and many others), viewing ancient petroglyphs, whale watching, incredible hiking, star gazing, ice fishing, etc. etc. are all here in a quaint New England village that is off the beaten path.

East Machias is a quaint New England village in an area of Maine that is relatively unpopulated, extremely charming and quiet.

Environmental non-profits such as the Nature Conservancy, Land for Maine Future and the Quoddy Regional Land Trust have developed and maintain excellent trails in the area. Bold coast trails, for example, are a short drive from the house. Nearby are: Beautiful working Cutler and Machiasport harbors, Roque Bluffs State Park with swimming beach, Jaspar Beach, Gardner Lake with excellent swimming area, East and West Quoddy Lighthouses, Cobscook Bay, Moosehorn Refuge, Campobello Island with FDR's summer home and a scenic nine hole golf course. The Summer Keys concert series in nearby Lubec is extraordinary. The Machias summer chamber music series is also excellent. Good restaurants can be found in East Machias, Machias and Lubec. Fresh lobster is easily available. Tide Mill Farm markets organic veggies and meats down the road in Whiting. We will be happy to stock the kitchen with your requested grocery items on the day of your arrival.
