Description of the Edinburgh vacation home rental
Ideal central location steeped in local history, within easy reach of Edinburgh, Glasgow, St Andrews, Loch Lomond and other areas of interest. See the owners link below for larger photos of this lovely rental accommodation.
A beautifully furnished exclusive home, traditionally styled with large bay windows and spacious living accommodation ( 2,000 sq ft ). Attracts natural light from all sides, raised aspect offering views across lush green parklands to a stunning range of hills.
Sits proudly in this enviable spot, on the edge of a small clutch of individually designed houses. Ample groundspace of 10,000 sq ft enables sloped landscaped gardens at the front, side and rear; a wide driveway with double garage; and railed walling / privacy fencing round the grounds perimeter.
The home is all on one level, giving easy access throughout and a layout which flows freely from room to room. Main entrance double doors lead into a welcoming vestibule, then to a wide T-shaped hallway which is the centrepiece of the home with all rooms running off it. This has several glass panelled doors to maximise natural light; and picture lighting over paintings by Vettriano, the most famous of modern Scottish artists.
The two bay-windowed front rooms comprise a spacious lounge with 2 sofas, riser/recliner chair, classic style stone fireplace, and widescreeen TV/DVD. And a master bedroom with ensuite and walk-in shower, built-in wardrobes, matching bedroom furniture with mirrored dresser, trouser press, and wall-mounted widescreen TV.
The hallway also leads to a double bedroom with built-in wardrobes and TV/DVD; a guest bathroom with full facilities and shower; and a smartly designed office suite, with internet workstation, mahogany closet, and leather sofa that converts to a bed.
The top of the hallway takes you to the rear of the house and into a good-sized wide-windowed kitchen, with dining area and utility room; also to a separate dining room with French doors and porthole window.
These rear doors open into a bright spacious conservatory / sun room, which in turn leads outside onto decking with seats, a ramped walkway down to the large patio, and landscaped garden displays of heathers, connifers, evergreens and flowering shrubs.
This is high quality accommodation that wont disappoint, and a great base for your holiday vacation. Truly a home you can enjoy and make your own during your stay in Bonnie Scotland.
The home is ideally located on the outskirts of the small town of Falkirk, which lies mid-way between Edinburgh and Glasgow and a 30 minute drive to each.
A train station within a few minutes walk connects to the centre of both Scotland's major cities. Between them they boast fine dining and high class shopping, daily and nightly entertainment, art galleries and museums, performing arts and music festivals, Scotland's national football and rugby stadiums, its Parliament Building, Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace - the Royal Family's official Scottish residence.
The Falkirk area, together with the nearby small towns of Stirling and Linlithgow, is steeped in history going back hundreds of years. Parts of the original Roman Wall can be seen around the area, and you can take tours of famous historical landmarks in Braveheart Country, such as the monuments to Sir William Wallace and Robert The Bruce, Bannockburn Battlefield, Stirling Castle and Stirling Bridge.
A short drive to Linlithgow Palace offers guided tours of what was the favourite residence of the Stuart Kings and the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. Within Falkirk, two major tourist attractions provide a sharp contrast between the old and the new - Calendar House preserves the wealthy mansion lifestyle of previous centuries, and the Falkirk Wheel is a marvelous feat of modern engineering which connects the two ancient canals running across Scotland.
Both Falkirk and Stirling are bustling communities with well-designed town centres, which successfully combine historical roots and architecture with the need for modern shopping and entertainment. The home's location provides easy access to each town centre, and is within a short walking distance of local shops, pubs and dining; parks and childrens' play areas; and a sports complex with swimming pool, conditioning gym, sauna, childrens' soft play room, and 10 pin bowling.
Right next to the home (just a short chipshot away) is Falkirk golf course, with recently refurbished clubhouse and restaurant. This is a well-established club, with a varied and typically Scottish 18 hole course - a mix of wide and narrow fairways, flat and hilly approaches, elevated tees across water hazards and woodlands, and some great views of the local area. Free rounds of golf can be arranged with the rental, along with use of the clubhouse for drinks and dining. There's lots of other golf courses to try in the local area, and in an hour you can reach the world famous St Andrews Old Course (where the rules of the game were created) and Musselburgh Links (the oldest course in the world).

Wonderful Stay, September 13, 2009 Oct, 09 "Our stay in Scotland has been all the more enjoyable because of John's lovely vacation home. We consider ourselves very fortunate indeed to have been able to return to these beautiful lodgings after our daily jaunts. We will not readily forget Falkirk and the house there which afforded us such pleasure." ( GS, Alabama )
