Discover the charm of this 19th Century German Victorian villa. The oldest on Elkhart Lake, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this lodge has been restored to its original beauty and is available for rental.

Area Information

Elkhart Lake is one of the most beautiful in WI yet only an hour from Milwaukee and 2.5 hours from Chicago. The lake is spring fed, deep and clean. In summer, all water sports are allowed though Sundays are blessedly quiet with no motor boats allowed. (One can actually swim from one end of the lake to the other.) In winter, cross country skiing or skating on the lake is a great pastime.

The Village of Elkhart Lake boasts a number of fine eateries. Kohler, Wisconsin is a 15 minute drive and is home to some of the most important golf venues in the country. The Kettle Moraine runs right through the area for wonderful hiking and more cross country skiing. The Sheboygan Marsh is a treasure of bird life.

Great Vacation House on the Lake

Perfect location on Elkhart Lake with wonderful decks overlooking the water. The house is wonderfully restored and easily sleeps 12. My family friends and I just had a spectacular time there while participating in a race weekend at Road America. It was everything we hoped for. We will certainly be back.

A step back in time

This home has much charm and provided our family with a most restful, restorative, and memorable vacation. We spent relaxing hours on the wrap around porch reading or conversing with friends and family. The dock provided fun for the water lovers with rides in the kayak and hanging out by the water. The rooms were lovely with furniture and decorations that took you back to an earlier time in the early 20th century. We truly felt time slow down and we relaxed, truly relaxed. The short walk into town was also scenic and gave us a nice stretch of the legs to justify that extra scoop of ice cream at Gesserts or Siebkins. We walked around the lake, biked the area, golfed, swam, canoed, kayaked, played tennis, roller bladed and all in all found many ways to fill the hours without television or cell phones. Thanks again for this amazing get-away. We can't wait for our return visit.

Major changes at the Overflow this year!

July 27, 2011

This year a whole new floor and air conditioning! We needed it having spent the hottest week in the year at the house....in total comfort. The owner put in geo-thermal heating and airconditioning and lifted up the house to put in a new basement which has a new washer drier, another shower and bath and a lot of recreational space. Other changes, a king size bed in the master bedroom and a double in the second bedroom on the first floor. All is as beautifully kept and there is new landscaping outside. We have been coming for about 15 years or more and have seen a lot of changes and the occasional appearance of Clara (or so the children say). Thank you Deirdre. Four generations of Posners have all loved the lake house--with and without air....

storybook perfect

What a great surprise; things never seem as promised on the internet, but in the case of Villa Von Baumbach, it was far better than expected. What a great and pleasant surprise. The owners have lavished much TLC on this antique cottage. Our stay was like a step back in time, with the only regrets being that we had not enough time to enjoy it and the lake even more. The porch is amazing, and the frozen mugs in the freezer were a nice surprise. The house lacked for nothing, with a well stocked kitchen, brand new Weber grill, Kayak and row boat. Thanks, Deirdre for making our trip to Elkhart a memorable one.

Perfect family Gathering

September 3, 2008

The house was wonderful! The lake was beautiful! Great for swimming and boating. Our family of 12 adults and 2 babies were accomodated very well. We even had 2 people sleep in the boathouse! Location was perfect for a wedding reception we attended in Elkhart Lake. We could have used more towels, and only having 1 bathroom with a shower was a little difficult, but we made it work.(1 bath has only a small tub) There actually were only 9 twin beds and we were counting on 10. The house was very clean and well maintained. The owner was very helpful and available for any thing we needed. Would love to come again sometime! I recommend adding a second fridge and a microwave.

Lovely Lake Victorian

This gracious home had all we needed for a long family weekend. The furniture is all vintage and gorgeous. Be prepared to be cozy if you are sharing a double bed! The only newer things are appliances and we found everything most adaquate for our cooking events - it was like turning back the clock! The gazebo/boat house was delightful for lunch and lounging.
